Eyeglass Case
bustedlifter replied to Storm's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I use sharpies, too. The only problem is trying to get into really tight spots. -
A friend of mine welded up the chain and I did the leather for this wall hanging. It's going to be part of an auction for Wishes on Wheels this Saturday. They have a poker run with an auction at the last stop and all the profits go to a sick child to help fulfill a wish. The flash makes it hard to see, need a better camera.

First I cut out the shape then I run the leather under the faucet in my kitchen sink usually top side first until it's wet. Then I turn it over and run it under until it is good and wet on the back side. Then usually one more time on the top side for good measure. While it's still really wet I transfer the pattern to it and start carving soon after that.

MMmmm, chocolate covered bacon sounds yummy! I grew up in Milwaukee and have an aunt and uncle that live a few blocks from the fairgrounds. Lots o' cool stuff there. -
I've ordered from Siegel's also and they were just fine but Springfield is a lot closer to me so I get it much sooner.

Seat for the Rockerbox 2009

How was the party? I saw the thread on the JJ. Are you going to the WI. State Fair? Oh yeah, nice work! -
I'm against stealing other people's property no matter what it is. And I think animals should be put down humanely, i.e. in the quickest most efficient way possible. However, this reminds me of a story I read about a young boy who goes up to an old cowboy and asks what the name of his horse is. The old cowboy says he doesn't have a name. The young boy looks puzzled and says ; He doesn't have a name? The cowboy says; No , he doesn't. You don't want to give a name to something you might have to eat!

So far I bought two hides from Kevin and have been very pleased with both. The price is great and the customer service is second to none!

I made a seat for this dude 4 years ago which was mostly black. I made a tool bag for him with only a black border and some black lettering on the ends. Well he liked that so much he wanted a seat to match. I'll post some finished pics soon. I'll have to get some pics of his tool bag ,too.
-
Finished the seat today, and a bottom view with our 3 year old son lending a hand. Wish the flash wasn't so flashy.
-
Looks good! How about some pics with them installed?
-
Thanks! I'll post more as i finish it.I "discovered " Snow Proof works pretty well for waterproofing AND highlighting the carving, imagine that. I'm also working on another seat and a wall hanging type thingie for "Wishes on Wheels" which is a biker event where the proceeds go to a sick child.

I really dig the lacing! -
I've posted something I didn't think I'd remember how to do it. A seat cover in progress.

I just got another HO hide from Springfield Leather and I'm just blown away! It's hard to believe they're selling that quality for that price, not too mention the excellent service I get from Kevin and the staff there.
-
I will also say I'm happy with Springfield Leather !

I hear ya Dave but FTW could also stand for Forsake the World, like it says in the Bible. I have a customer I made a seat ,a tool bag and in the process of making another seat for, who wants a fender bib that reads 'Suffer Bitch'. I'm trying to steer him in a different direction on that one. The wife and I have to get another camera, our 3 yr.old son did our old one in a while back, as I have made quite a few things and have No pics of them.

I'm looking for a place to get bag closures. I looked at Tandy but nothing catches my eye there. Any info would be appreciated.

That's some fine looking work there. Great job! I really like the patterns between the beadwork.
