  1. Don't forget Mick Taylor.
  2. I scored the Snowproof from Springfield Leather. That's the reason I don't use Neatsfoot, it isn't made for crankcases. Oh by the way, Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
  3. Dave, have you tried the Snowproof? I think it repels water better than the Aussie conditioner. I may be wr..wro...wron..uh mistaken but doesn't neatsfoot oil have some animal fat/ byproducts in it? As far as motor oil goes, I'm just a petroleum kind of guy. I've used motor oil on stuff and it's holding up really well. At any rate, you say tomato and I say tomahto.
  4. Haha ha! Where's Keith?
  5. Thanks,I like more lighthearted work although a lot of bikers want something evil or wicked. Whatever,I'm not into evil or wicked myself. I'll try to post more stuff as soon as I can find the charger for the camera. Thanks Troy! Does it look like I'm trying to get the post count up on this thread?
  6. Fiebings Snow Proof. Sometimes I use 20w-50 or 60w Valvoline or Harley oil, depends what I have laying around, before dyeing.
  7. Thanks! Actually,I'm waiting for nice riding weather to come back so it gets broke in. I'm really looking forward to see what it looks like with some of the color faded. Definitely get into that supply drawer.
  8. Thanks and yes. Thanks, I like your handle.
  9. Thanks! Gus is the name of my son. My name is Steve.I might not have conveyed that very well.
  10. Three weeks ago the wife and I were blessed with an addition to our family, a little baby girl! Lily Rea was born on 19 November 2009. We've been trying to get that day and night thing to coincide with her perception of night and day. The boy is her big brother, Gus.
  11. How's your project coming along? Did you get the measurements to figure out how to mount it?
  12. A while back I made a dash panel and I liked the way it looked being mostly black. So I decided to recover my seat with mostly black. The colors on the Atomic Fink are BIC fine line permanent markers. My bike is mostly black so I think it matches it better than the natural leather I was running. I think I'll keep it,for now.
  13. Last of the slab side motors, cool! I measured the wife's wide glide and the outside to outside distance is 11 5/8". The inside is 8 3/8". Hope this helps you out. See if you can find an IPB ( Illustrated Parts Breakdown) of a Wide Glide front end, too. There are pics in manuals or parts books. These might give you an idea on how you can mount it.
  14. Looks great, Dave! I like the way you used the background just in the middle to bring out the detail. I started trying it in select places instead of around the whole carving. Aussie conditioner is made by Fiebing's. I love their products, too, especially their oil dye. Have you tried their "Snow Proof" conditioner? I've been using it lately and it seems to work really well. It also adds some highlight to the tooling. One more thing; what's the deal with the wood tooling board? Once again, great work and thanks for posting your technique!
  15. Saw it on the JJ art show today,Cool!
  16. I can't comment on the $60.00 sides , that sounds reeaallyy cheap, however I can tell you if you get some HO sides from Springfield Leather @ $4.79 sq. ft. you won't be disappointed.
  17. I made a dash panel for a buddy of mine's Shovel Pan.Next up is a tool bag and hopefully a seat. He rode my bike and loved the sprung seat as opposed to his which sits on his rigid frame. I still have to make the hold down strap at the bottom. OOps, did it twice.
  18. Did he get a 3 piece patch off ebay to go with it?
  19. Thanks! After I tool the design, I use a modeling tool to take the edge off.
