  1. I found the easiest way to get a 5/1 speed reducer is from a dead electric lawn mower. My price was $0.00
  2. I have found that screws on Singer 29K and 31K15 machines match metric sizes exactly. I used a METRIC thread gauge and then measured the size with a micrometer. When possible took I the part to try the screw into. Or a nut that matches a screw that size. I haven't found a machine yet that doesn't have 2 screws the same size so I could take one to the automotive or bolt supplier to match. I was set a link by a guy that told me he didn't believe when I said that. BUT the link to the Singer site said MOST Singer screws match other systems SOME do not. So If I were you I would try a good fastener / bolt supplier.
  3. Your pile of "STUFF: isn't big enough.
  4. I am in Saskatchewan. I think it is time to sell my machines and tools, age and health are helping in making this decision. I am wondering where would be a good place to advertise so the RIGHT people will see the ad. I realize nobody from a 2000 plus Kms. is likely to come for these things. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Mods. If this violates rules delete this post.
  5. Not sure why you choose to waste so much good original leather. I have fixed lots of those exact problems. Just oil the original fenders to restore them like they should have been taken care of. Then glue and sew with thin thread a thin patch on the outside and sew a piece of seatbelt from a car on the inside. NO stitching across, only along the direction of pull. Seatbelt is so thin you never notice it and can only be seen when looking on the inside. Patch on outside is barely noticeable.
  6. I am only telling you my experiance. I used a metric thread gauge and it matched exactly. Then I took one screw that there were 2 alike and tried a metric nut on and it fit just as good as on the metric screw. SO, if that worked here it might work for some others on at least some screws. These were from machines that had never been touched. Some were from a machine my mother bought NEW almost a 100 years ago. If you look at and read the link you sent me you will see that what I said is true. it SAYS MANY of the singer screws match other systems. SOME do not.
  7. Private message sent.
  8. I realize this post started a long time ago. BUT, I have worked on 29k and 31k15 machines and much to my surprise, haven't found a screw yet that doesn't match a metric size. Both thickness and thread pitch. Get a metric thread gauge and see if the ones you need match.
  9. Thank you for your replies. It gives me some assurance that they should be good.
  10. Have any of you bought sewing machine parts from Amazon? If so were you satisfied. I am looking to buy some bobbins and feet.
  11. When my Singer 29k patchers made a mess like that it was shuttle timing. Not going far enough for the thread to slip around. I had to set the timing so the hook went a bit farther. Haven't had any trouble since.
  12. One more detail to add to that picture and description. I put a 1 1/2 inch pulley on the motor.
  13. Thank you for posting it. Hope it helps somebody.
  14. I have tried many times to contact Collage sewing and always get a message invalid phone number. what can I be doing wrong? I searched google on how to enter a phone number to another country and doing that did not work either.
  15. Thank you. Please tell me if you have anything.
  16. I posted a picture some time ago and since I didn't know how to resize them it took up all my allowance and can't post anymore. BUT if someone would message me I would text them to them and they could post them for me. I am NOT very digital so have trouble posting some things.
  17. It looks to me like those parts are likely the same as on an Adler 20-2. I have a 20-2 and have extras of some of the parts you need.
  18. I am in need of a gear for my 29k machine. It is the one that goes inside to drive it with the wheel on the front. The hub is there. but a previous owner took out the shaft and gear. Has anyone found a gear that size on Amazon or anywhere else? Or made a gear. The singer number is 81869. I can make the shaft and adapt the gear if needed it just needs to be right tooth number and diameter.
  19. If I could post pictures I would show you how to bring a 31k15 or 78-3 down to a nice speed for leather. I have done both. I used a flywheel / pulley from a junked small air compressor. Stuck them in the lathe and made the center hole fit over the hub on the hand wheel. and took enough off the fan type spokes to go over the pulley groove on the hand wheel belt grooves line up so no need to reposition the motor. No extra shafts or pulleys. just a longer belt. Loosen one set screw and pull off the big pulley and put on the original belt and you are back at full speed. All this with the original clutch motor.
  20. Yes, I had my location added after my first post. Hoping it might get replies from closer.
  21. It's been a while since I was here. I have gotten a 29k58 machine. For some unknown reason a previous owner took out the front shaft that allows for the balance wheel to be mounted on the front. The hub is still there. The part numbers are 82008 for the shaft and 81869 for the gear. From the research I have done so far it seems that those parts are the same on most if not all Singer patchers. Can anyone tell me if they know if those parts are still available, even used. And if the parts from an Adler or some clone would fit.
  22. Thank you for the info. I have an very old Singer regular machine I will find and see if it has a screw that will work.
  23. The reason I asked, is in another thread someone asked about screws for a Singer 20 U machine and was told they are not the singer thread. I think singer machines with a U in the model are made in Japan.
  24. Does the 29U 172A ( Patcher )use a regular screw or a Singer screw to hold the needle in?
  25. I realize this is a different machine. But does the Singer 29U172A use standard or Singer screw to hold the needle in? I think both were made in Japan.
