  1. Art , I think your comparison might be even closer if it were Clutch= manual transmission and Servo = hydrostatic transmission. I wrote this before I read all 5 pages but still think some might understand what I mean.
  2. Am I the only one who wonders where Bruce gets shipment after shipment of these (good ) old tools and nobody else can ever find any?
  3. I am in Sask. I actually do not have them home yet I hope to get them here next week. Once I have them I will have to see what they are. And decide which if any I want to sell or trade.
  4. I am not real sure what all they will be. I have not got them here yet. It looks like most likely chap decorative overlays and other as yet not identified. I would list more once I get them. I don't think there are holster dies since there are not many holster makers in Canada. I was more ( testing the water ) as to how the chances might be of selling or trading some for ones I could use.
  5. Does any one know if there is a chance that used clicker dies would be saleable. I may be getting some included in a deal that I am likely not to have a use for.
  6. The problem is that the person I am buying from never used it, knows nothing about it. She bought out a shop and it was part of the deal but she never used it. So I am mostly on my own. It will not be the first time I Stuck my neck out so to speak!!!!!
  7. Tanks for all your responses. It looks like the deal is going to go ahead. I will just have to wait and see when I get it home. what it will take to get it going.
  8. The one I got has the lever and it does a good job on long tapers. It was sold on there 2 day special here the end of November. It was sold under a different product number then the regular one with the lever. Mine was SHARP right out of the box. Maybe they made a special buy on them since the were limited to 12 per store and mine came sharp. I know what the sent thickness ones are like I have 4 of them in different makes and they work good for long same thickness splits.
  9. Yes !!! Some of us just have not quite reached that level of sharp yet. I was lucky mine came out of the box sharp enough to cut for me.
  10. Axeman Yes you are right. I looked on the plate on the outside of the body it reads as posted in my first post here. That makes me believe it is wired for 220v 1 phase. Is there such a thing as 220v 3 phase?
  11. I was browsing the internet looking for other in formation yesterday and came across the cowboy 800 splitter and it looks exactly like the Tandy I can't help believing they come out of the same factory.
  12. Thank you I will try phoning. I have found a VERY small amount of info on this machine. It seems to be a rare somewhat specialized machine.
  13. I have a couple of pictures but not being very good with computers Have not been able to get them posted yet.
  14. I have been to that site but nothing seems to work. Catalog comes up can't be found. Contact gets no response. Just wondered if they sold after Rea died?
  15. If this is still available do you have a picture.
  16. You are right about parts availability!!! Unless it is hydraulic parts I think I might be able to adapt parts. I've been fixing things some said couldn't be done off and on for 50 years.
  17. Maybe when I get it completely uncovered I will find a name on it and that could help. It might also share the same brand of electric and hydraulic parts with other brands. I am hoping I can get it for a price that reflects the fact that it is not a common brand. Hard to run back and forth to check things since it is 140 miles away.
  18. N star, Thanks for your reply, No it has the table wider from front to back then from side to side. And the head is just a few (about 2 inch's ) smaller then the table. And the body ( lower frame ) is the same width as the table. It has 2 red buttons on the head that I think activate it. The head is the same color as the body. If I end up buying it I might find a name on it some place. I really did not have much time to look it over good. At the time I was not real interested in buying it was more interested in trying to help the lady get it usable for herself. but now she thinks she wants to sell it. Does anyone know if Bogle- Greenwell is still in business/ I read that Rea passed away and that his widow offered the business for sale. I went to the website and sent a message but got no reply and all the links to parts and catalog show a message can't be found.
  19. Thank you Trox, When I actually got to see this press I found out the owner was told wrong it is in fact 3 wire 220 volt ( like a electric stove or dryer ) So changing it would not be needed after all IF I buy it.
  20. I bought one and it is SHARP right out of the box. I use it to taper strap ends and works good. Maybe they send better ones to Canada. How long it will stay sharp remains to be seen. If you had checked the number is different then the regular deluxe splitter.
  21. Thank you I will check with them. I am considering buying this clicker and was wondering if anybody knew anything about it. Am I right thinking an older machine made in Italy might be better made then some of the older Chinese stuff/
  22. I think if you read more carefully you would see that what was meant was they USED better steel back then. MEANING that the ones making the tools ( knives etc. ) now are not as careful about choosing and treating the steel as they were back then. Because of the small market now compared to when harness etc. was a big industry.
  23. From the lack of replies I tend to assume these clickers are either very rare or were no good and so now are obsolete. There might be or have been a name on then that I missed seeing but if somebody had or has one they likely would have noticed the MADE in ITALY on it.
  24. I am putting this here since it seems people rarely look at the machinery forum. I posted there several days ago and my post is still at the top. SO here is my question. Does anyone out there have or know anything about a clicker that was sold by Bogle-Greenwell in Texas years ago the tag says made in Italy. It is grey and about 26 inches wide and 52inches long and the whole machine is the same width as the table not like the ones I have been seeing pictures of where the cutting surface is wider than the base. All I have been able to find out with internet searches is that Rea Bogle died and that the business was offered for sale. The web site is still up but the links come up as can't be found. So I am guessing they are no longer in business.
  25. Arron Martin harness in Ontario.
