  1. Not sure how much this relates to a leatherworking issue, but, I spent 35 years hand crafting fine furniture, cabinetry and accessories. I always signed my work in a discreet location. As proud as I am of what I created, my work spoke for itself. but then again, it was not for sale on Ebay. Put it on the back in really big letters (be proud,it's fine work) and word of mouth will bring you business. Edit: for all you saddle makers. You guys are at the level we all (well at least me) wish we could achieve, but... how many people would turn a saddle over looking for a makers mark? Beans and Oranges.
  2. This is what i have for the holster I'm about to start(my second one). Hope it works out as well.
  3. BINGO! What a great idea. useful and a hook that will get your holsters noticed.
  4. Bob, Your work is unbelievable! Every time I see a new piece by you, It amazes me. As a newbie to leather working i can only say, I wish I would have discovered this craft earlier. There's so much to learn, and I'm having a blast!
  5. Absolutely beautiful. Did you create the pattern for the tooling? Fantastic craftsmanship.
  6. Thanks Shooter and a big THANKS to Waterhouse Leather. I know where my next order will be placed.
  7. I ran across this while looking for some supplies. I know the OP is almost two years old,but Is this still in effect?
  8. Congratulations! With how fast they grow up these days you only have a short time to perfect that "Crazy Daddy" stare. Beautiful little girl!
  9. Yeah, that sharkskin is real nice! The edges are beautiful. Good job on both
  10. Sorry to hear about your wife's job, but best of luck to you Ed, no matter where you go. Your woodworking and toolmaking skills are incomparable. I hope someday to have one of you or your son's mauls (when my skills merit such fine tools). As a fellow CP sufferer, I wish you the best. Good luck on your move!
  11. Outstanding! The carved liner really sets this one off. I'm goin' shopping for another single action now!
  12. Great detail on the cowgirl one! They're all well done, I just like that one the best .
  13. Found this old thread while digging around, looking for ideas for a clock face.I thought I recognized it because the finished photos of this piece were the very first saved in my leatherworking folder. These were my inspiration for starting in this fascinating craft. Absolutely stunning work! A heartfelt thank you , Crystal. It's been a while since I've enjoyed anything as much as this.
  14. Absolutely beautiful. I'm with Phatdaddy here, this is the best yet!
  15. In the short time since I decided to take up leather working and found this site, the knowledgeable, generous, and helpful members here have saved me hours of frustration plus many dollars in material. Add me to the list of thankful newbies.

Thank you both! I truly had NO idea on how to use this tool. I don't have one yet but, now that I understand it's function, I can see some places it could be a valuable asset. I've spent the greater part of my life carving wood and pounding metal. This is an exciting and fun new craft for me. Wish I'd found it earlier.
  17. Beautiful! I also think your carving flows very nicely and the choice of colors is excellent. I just finished carving, or tooling ( I'm not sure yet what it should be called) my first checkbook cover. It'll be a while before I will be posting pictures.

Second part of the question...How do you use it?
  19. Very impressive! I'm new to leatherworking, but I can recognize the skill it took for this piece. Looks like I need a whole lot practice time. Thanks for posting this beautiful work of art.
  20. Fantastic work. Can I ask how long this took?
  21. Excellent idea! I'm gonna have to try that. I can call mine a Judicial decision.
  22. Beautiful carving work and colors. Your friend should be very happy ( I know I would be). People like you are an inspiration to a beginning leather worker, like myself. Thanks for sharing.
  23. Beautiful Holster Luke. Is that a 2 1/2" cylinder Judge? Looking for ideas on a 3" x 3" Judge myself. I've been using an Uncle Mike's #2 for mine and , although it works well enough, I would prefer to personalize it more by making one of my own. Hope mine comes out as nice as yours.
  24. Nice rig! Man, that's a whole lot of basket weave. Hope I have the patience for it when I , finally, feel skilled enough to tackle something like this for my 1851 Navy.
