Any thing I don't have to pay retail for, 10 to 12 sides would be common. I make items for bikers, archers, special orders, and the like.

Get ahold of Wickett & Craig and talk to a person about what they can offer you. Or, if you like Hermann Oak, see what they'll do for you at Springfield. Springfield's list price with their wholesale membership is about $7.59 p/f, but that may be negotiable for 10 - 12 sides at a time. Never hurts to ask.

At 10 sides, you can buy direct from HO.

  2. I have purchased from Zach Whites' Leather and Tandy, for the last few months Tandy has become really bad here in Charlotte, NC. Skitring is substandard and a lot of hides seem to be less than what is listed (8/9) is about the same as a (5/6). I had to get hold of their middle management to get word that their leather is substandard, he helped but not sure that the store will house better stock in the future! Zach had a good hide but it was pricey but loads better than Tandy. I am afraid to order leather items I can't see for fear of getting the stores refuse. I have talked to WC but not ordered yet, SL is now on my list to contact!
  3. I use powder free latex gloves, doesn't stop the dye from reaching my fingers though! Get a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store!
  4. Workin leather, bags, knife and dagger sheaths, belts, braclets, leather-necks, tail covers, hair bows, tail holders, but no zippers!

  5. looking for tooling sides that wont hurt the wallet! Tandy is not an option!

  6. I have picked up some bottles of Eco-Flo ALL-IN-ONE and I was wondering if it can be thinned? I know it has a sealer already in it and it is like a gel but I want to get it to a thinner consistancy. Any input welcome, I have never used this product before and paid $5 per quart. So if it sucks I wont loose too much!
  7. I guess a shoe polish applicator would work just as well when applying edge dye?
  8. I am guessing that you want the high portions dark and the low portions light? Use a firm make-up sponge (not soaking) to dab on the high parts. Remove excess with a clean dry paper towel.
  9. I have no idea what to charge for a dog harness. I make belts that are made to order and I have found that you will have customers that want quality, while others will say that they can get it cheaper at Wally World. Most folks understand the saying "you get what you pay for!", the others that buy nylon would probably purchase weaved grass cuttings if it lasted for a day! Good advice here on material charges and hourly fees. I am sure that you will do fine once you get established. First and formost - do business the way I do! The old fashioned way! ; )
  10. I am in need of rebel flag leather stamps and I keep hitting dead ends. Can anyone help? It needs to be 1 inch high x 1.5 inches long. I will even take on info on how to make my own. Thanks all!
