  1. These are lovely! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Breathing is good. lol This is the press I have. https://www.osbornel...gory.php?cid=40 Similar in function to the one you ordered, with a different handle configuration. The one thing I do everytime though, is make sure the cap and socket section I intend on using snaps together before I try and set it. Some of them can be off and I figure checking that before I set the snap saves a ton of aggravation.
  3. . I don't have that particular press, I have the Osborne one. I know of others who have the Tandy press for grommets and they like it. I just got the dies to do line 20 and 24 snaps with the Osborne press. I am not having a problem with the Tandy snaps with this setup. I had a lot of trouble with them with the hand held setters, they seem to work fine in the press. So I would imagine that you will see a great improvement with your new tool.Let us know how you make out.
  4. very nice and I really like your work in progress shots. It's great to see how your projects develop.
  5. My dh gets a little hyper about it too. LOL I think the kiln bothers him less than when I was torch firing . Unfortunately I am not doing much with it now that the price of silver has gone sky high. I may have to finally bite the bullet and learn to work with the base metal clays. Their firings are more finicky though so I have been dragging my feet .The bronze would probably make great accents for leather though. Hmmmmm.......
  6. Actually, that has not been my experience but I tend to use Art Clay Silver. I think it is a little brighter in colour. Both are rated at .999 FS when fired, so there can't be too much of anything left after firing. It does take some work for a mirror finish but I have seen some fabulous pieces done with that finish. Personally, I like a more organic look so haven't done much of that type of work. But the ability to mold and sculpt gives it a lot of design possibilities.
  7. Very, very nice and I can't imagine the time it took to get that applique just right. Did you use PMC for the snaps? And I am going to be really bold and ask if there is a chance you could add the zipper pocket in the inards to your tutorial:begging: Rosemary
  8. Which version of the mop n glow product are you using? There seem to be a couple. Has anyone tried future floor finish and how has that worked? (Sorry dfd, I didn't mean to highjack your thread.) Rosemary
  9. http://www.ofrei.com/page281.html Hopefully the link works. :-)
  10. Am I missing something? The clasps seem to run$4-10 when I checked the link.
  11. Really nice! Can I ask how deep it is, it's kinda hard to tell.
  12. Ya, I hear you. I first damaged it about 15 years ago , it eventually got better but it started acting up again in the last year and a half . I do end up resting the elbow on the table a lot, that`s why I wondered if the angle of the tapered maul would be better.
  13. Thanks Bruce. Makes sense that the heavier the maul, the bigger the effect. And your reminder about correct height is a good one. It makes a big difference for the other craft things I do and since I am new to this, I hadn`t given that aspect enough thought.
  14. Very nice, both of them. Rosemary
  15. I have read with interest the topics about mauls, wieghts etc. I have a specific question about tapered vs round... I have tennis elbow in my right arm which causes some discomfort. Since I have no intention of giving up everything I like to do ( A really stupid suggestion from a specialist ), I was wondering if a tapered maul would be easier to use and cause less strain . Rosemary
  16. Clark, Sorry I was so late replying to this. We have been away. Thanks so much, this seems to be more of the type of finish I was looking for. I'm not really fussy on the glossy look, it looks too plasticy for me. Now to practice more so I can try this finish out. I haven't achieved anything yet that I feel needs preserving for posterity. Thanks again. Rosemary
  17. I am very new to all of this and I am getting so confused with how one is to finish your work. Particularly if I don't want a glossy look. I am going to try and post a pic,,( it's very rough , I know but I thought it would be easier for someone to answer if they saw what I am trying to do). I am practicing on scrap to learn. I have coloured with Eco-flo Hi lites and need to know where to go from there. I am hoping for a more natural look, rather than shiny. oil, neatsfoot, other finish....I am getting lost in the options. Thanks and I hope my pic works. Rosemary
  18. Too funny!! I thought they came that way and couldn't figure out how they would be used as a hardware tool.( Smacking forehead)
  19. Do you happen to know what they call these at the hardware store?
