  1. I second this. Any paper crafter will tell you that the ones with the plastic rail move and you end up with a straight cut that is off a little from one end to the other, even with card stock. I don't think they would be good for anything heavier. The more expensive metal ones might work but most of them are set up for paper or photo cutting so might need some tweaking for heavier materials.
  2. I am always happy to see you post. There is just such an attention to detail in your work that makes it really special. If my tooling ever gets that good, I will be ecstatic. Thanks for including the older pic, it's always an inspiration to see how much people's skill grows with time , practice and experience.
  3. That is what I was afraid of.. I am new to all this and don't know what happened with Hidecrafters, other than a big dustup but it seems that a couple of the pattern books went into some kind of neverland, including this one and the Cross one.
  4. Would anyone happen to know where I could order the Chan Geer center patterns book from? http://proleathercarvers.com/sheridan-style-new-center-designs.html I wrote this company and they are not expecting to get them anymore. Thanks
  5. That is a kind of unusual combination but I love your artwork. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Johanna Could you please turn off the time online feature? I can't find anywhere to edit it so I think it must be a moderator item. Thanks Rosemary
  7. Mark, I did some looking at the ones for sale and this is my version. I deliberately made mine with a front and back side but did see some where both sides are exactly the same so I think it would be your preference. I kind of rushed through this so there are tooling mistakes etc but it still turned out ok I think. Hope this helps. Rosemary

Thanks so much for sharing this! Rosemary
  9. I don't know if this would work for leather but quilters use their own saliva to get blood out of their quilts. Something about your own saliva works best for your own blood. They wad up a bunch of thread with their spit on it and work at the blood stain. I have had to resort to this when handsewing the binding on a white corset, so I know it works for fabric, haven't tried it on leather.
  10. Actually I did a double take when I saw this stuff on the Tandy site last week. My first thought was how juvenile the finished products looked, but then thought maybe I was being unkind.
  11. There is a special heat resistant fabric that is used for this. I can't recall the name at the moment. People use it when making potholders and items like that. It has a silver side and a quilted side to absorb heat. I have seen it on cases that sometimes come with some of the straighteners. I don't know how well it would work with leather, perhaps someone else does.
  12. It looks great. I'll bet the new owner is really pleased. I especially like how you did the tooling on the belt end.
  13. Another option is the Tandy Leathercraft Library. You can purchase them online as an ebook.
  14. Very, very nice. Thanks so much for sharing.
  15. Very nice indeed. I really like the depth in your tooling. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I just received mine today. I really am in shock that I got it that fast. Normally stuff from the west side on the US takes forever to get to me so I am feeling particularly blessed today. lol . So far with my little bit of playing, I am really impressed. I do small stuff and was having a really hard time with tight curves , circles and wavy lines and this is much easier. I do need to practice more to get better control but that is the same with every new tool. Rosemary
  17. THANK YOU!!!! I really appreciate your taking the time to do this. Rosemary
