  1. Check to see what is checked on the left side at the bottom and make sure it doesn't say only the posts I have participated in. Mine for some reason had that checked when it wasn't before. I must have computer gremlins because I know I didn't change it.
  2. I took it off his old wallet that my parents had given him 20 some odd years ago. He wanted it almost the same so that's what I did. If I was doing it again, I would eliminate some of the card slots. Since I did them leather and not fabric with leather trim, it gets a little bulky when loaded.
  3. I am away from home and using the iPad, so I don't quite know why this is happening. I'll check when I get back on my home computer to see if it is only a mobile problem.
  4. I can't get the new content to show either. I could up until very recently. Any clues?
  5. Tom, I am in the GTA so I think I could ask that. My sister in law thinks so anyways. It's just a matter of whether I have enough of the leather left to do so and deciding if I really want to try and replicate it. Sometimes when your hobby becomes a job, you lose your hobby.
  6. Thanks for the kind comment Bob. It's probably the thing I am most pleased with so far in my leather working stuff. Not totally happy of course-there are always things I could have done better and from what I read, I think most of us are like that.
  7. The hardware was a buckle from a belt I purchased at the Salvation Army thrift store. It had the weight I was looking for and looked really nice so I just removed the tongue to use it. The buckles came from a purse I got on sale at value village. Recycling means I can get some unique things :-) I sewed this on my vintage singer 153w100. The double lines on the flap were stitched separately. I got some topstitch feet to keep the stitching lines even. My blog address is at the end of my posts. :-) Thanks, G2
  8. Thanks for the kind words Tom ,5spice, Monica and Miss Denise. Monica, the leather is not gray but a kind of dusty aqua. Hard to describe but really pretty in person and very spring like. Guess the picture reads differently on your computer. I am in a bit of a quandary though, as someone is asking me to make her one. I'm not sure I have enough leather left since I want to try and make matching sandals and the hardware was one of a kind. I wouldn't even begin to know what I should charge for something like this. Any idea?
  9. Thanks, Aaron. I really like the colour of that leather and figured it would make a good purse for the spring ( if it ever arrives :-))
  10. Lovely work, Bob. I have that seashell tool , now I know I should have purchased the filler tool as well. :-)
  11. Although I can see the need for improvement in my stitching, I am really happy with this. I used the Arthur Porter you tube videos as my starting point. I have had the leather for more than a year, waiting for this project I think. There are a few more pics on my blog. Thanks for looking.
  12. Thanks for this list. I'm also in the GTA .The only one I have been to is Perfect Leather, the rest are all new to me. However, I think my wallet will be sorry
  13. This is the item I think. I believe he may be doing a new tut to go with the pattern or at least that's the impression I got from his you tube update today.
  14. A while back I had posted a triangular coin purse that I had done, using the Ian Atkinson tutorial on you tube. I got a lot of questions about the pattern so thought this might be of interest. Ian has just posted that he will be revisiting the coin purse on his channel and will be making a pattern available for purchase through his etsy store so that people can use it to make along with his video. ( No connection to Ian, other than a you tube subscriber) Hope this is helpful. Sorry I don't seem to be able to include an outside link, but just look for him on you tube.
  15. Thanks WScott. I would say DH =dear husband, but I'm sure he will prefer your version.
  16. My dh's wallet was falling apart so I decided to try and make a new one. After the discussion about the RFID in cards, I lined the back of the card sections with aluminum tape, then covered with fabric. I really didn't like the way it changed the texture of the leather but hopefully it will work. It only is really noticeable above the ID section. I need to work on the trimming of the binding. I found it really difficult as the goat is pretty stretchy. It also made skiving impossible, at least for me, so the card section is thicker than I would like. I could have used fabric with a leather strip on top for the card slots but wanted to keep the fabric component to a minumum.
  17. Truly, I am not sure. The goatskins were seconds and I just picked up some to experiment. I don't have a gauge so any guess on my part would be just that - a guess. Less than 2 oz would be my guess ( .8 mm). It is pretty thin though, but strong. I stitched this by machine using bonded 69 thread.
  18. Already done in the previous posts and pcox has helped me solve this problem
  19. Mine doesn't have this configuration at all. I think that is the case here.
  20. I also think there can be great confusion in the fact that many of these old machines were probably made for years and went through a few incarnations. For example, the small hole pcox referred to does not exist on my machine. The bolt/screw does but there is no place for an adjustment except on the bolt itself.
  21. Thanks, that is the one I downloaded but it is impossible to see where C is on it. Fortunately pcox has posted a pic and a post for me that clarified where I need to do the adjustment. At some point, someone has repainted this machine and I was really afraid that the adjustment point had been painted over.
