Is there a chart or does someone have standard numbers they use to measure out a belt to get the correct measurement without having to measure an individual

Looks like the edges are skived, folded back, and stitched
-
can you cement the front layer to the metal then glue the second piece that is over sized and trim excess when all dried, then add holes and stitch? Maybe sand the edges even so you don't ruin the oval shape by burnishing. Sorry if this is not help, not familiar with buckles just looking at it from a process stand point

do the zipper like you would for a roper wallet, cut a piece the size you need and then cut out section just for the zipper area. From what I have seen measure the length for the zipper, at each end punch a maybe 1/2", 1" hole and cut a line from both sides of each circle then sew in the zipper in that opening, then you should have enough material to stitch

Creating Croc And Alligator Texture On Veg Tan
DS STRAPS replied to landm42006's topic in How Do I Do That?
I would say either buy the alligator printed veg tan leather http://www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/9151-11.aspx or print out what ever image you like of alligator scales and get to transferring it to leather http://previews.123rf.com/images/charnsitr/charnsitr1207/charnsitr120700014/14379481-dark-green-crocodile-skin-texture-as-a-wallpaper-Stock-Photo-texture.jpg -
Substitute For Small Blade Swivel Knife?
DS STRAPS replied to DS STRAPS's topic in How Do I Do That?
Very nice! I just happen to have a couple of those laying around thanks for the tip! -
Add me to the list for an order of pricking irons

I did notice it does look like crap if you attempt to burnish without trimming/beveling the edges. The curved surface of the beveled on flat edge seemed to push leather to form how ever your burnisher is moved

Planning a tooling project that has some small detail lines and wondering if there is anything I can use to cut the lines other than a small swivel knife?

I just spent a night struggling burnishing a clutch made of goat skin and 2oz leather with a wood burnisher. after several attempts of wetting and rubbing just couldn't do it, the leather kept bending so I was getting uneven pressure....if any at that! Finally after about giving up I put some beeswax on the edges and laid it flat on the table, held it down, and just rubbed each side, enough to build up some heat, with a t-shirt rag that was on my bench top and to my amazement I finally got a burnish that would be up to par with the Pro's...MPO

I saw Tandy is now in Europe, Tandy eco flow contact adhesive works really well for water base
-
I usually use Barge contact cement, heard DAP Weldwood is pretty good, maybe Gorilla glue. Even was thinking a 3M double sided adhesive tape, you can get some really thin stuff with great adhesion, here at work the machinist use it to hold down Delran parts that can't be clamp down.

Sounds like you dress shoe lasts. I will look at my book marks and see if I still have the link for a last company I found

3rd clutch made using black goat skin and snake skin keeper. Thanks for looking!

I would use some type of adhesive rather than attempting to sew around a TV...unless you were making some type of fitted cover that would be sewn before placed on TV, or make some type of face plate that can be added to the TV and removable if needed

Denim will work fine, just glue to leather.
