  1. Been thinking about making one since the last 2 were destroyed after vacationing. I may have to go custom cause the wife and I end up caring 2 bags, thinking of making one larger bag.
  2. Recommend buying bag stiffener which I believe you can get from either Tandy or Springfield, or use a leather liner that will add some stiffness
  3. Great Work and thank you for all the patterns you put out!

  5. I use a divider to trace out the desired distance from the edge and then use a chisel to punch holes, you could also use a stitching wheel along line to get hole spacing
  6. Looks awesome, thank you
  7. Anyone know of any vendors selling goat skin in a lot of different colors? I have seen Alran s.a.s France but not sure my work is up to that standard yet.
  8. I used the Elmer's spray adhesive and Kevinp is correct about one chance of getting it right for the alignment
  9. Search EBay, I bought 2 used pair for about $25 each w/free shipping http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=women+wooden+last&_from=R40%7CR40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC2.A0.H0.X+wooden+last.TRS0&_nkw=+wooden+last&_sacat=0

  11. Just wanted to see if any of the veterans have any solutions to glue storage/usage....referring to what type of container do you transfer your adhesive to too be ready to use when needed.....glass...plastic...ceramic? I bought 2 of the plastic containers sold on Tandy, 1 the brush attached the lid rusted away and the second one, the glue hardened up with the brush in the glue.
  12. Thanks for explaining that! I have used them since I have gotten into leather work and have to agree with you that they offer the best service, product, and prices for exotics that I have found
  13. LMAO...thanks! I have been afraid of patterns for the fact of perfection but I guess that's one demon that will be cured...lol
  14. I have seen either folded in towards the interior or folded to size. I've tried folded to size and gets a little hairy for me trying to align the pieces once the glue was sprayed.
  15. So when cutting leather by hand using a pattern that has been traced out, is it expected for the cut out not to completely match the pattern? I am currently working on the my first project using a pattern I made and notice that the cut out did not come out exactly as the pattern, slightly larger and a little out of position after cutting. Is there an exact science when cutting out a pattern or is all the precision done at the end with sanding and burnishing?
  16. Not sure if anyone is using this hide or has seen it but Roje leather is selling Giraffe hide http://www.allexoticleather.com/category-s/78.htm

  19. Is there a easy way to harden without having a fire pit?
  20. Thanks Gary, I saw TLF had a pattern pack but the images of pattern did not loos super appealing
  21. Anyone happen to have a pattern for making a leather vest?
  22. So I thought I would attempt to make a skiver/paring knife since I was board at work on a Sunday. It is 1/16" thick stainless, I think it may be a little to thick and may have to be machined down thinner. The shape was taken from a couple Japanese utility knives I have seen online. Thoughts, suggestions?
  23. Watches and hobbies
  24. I have been wondering about this lately as I have been attempting to get into using patterns for wallets and bags. I have been looking at all these designs with curves in them and wondering how I would glue 3 layers, with each piece having a different curve cut, because even though you use the same pattern I can't imagine the pieces will be exactly the same. Unless everyone is just that good at cutting out pieces
