  1. Sorry to hijack ur thread but I read a few post and a few other threads and was wondering, are you suppose to go all the way through with any style stitching chisel/pricking iron or are they just for starting the holes?
  2. Very nice! I am a big fan of ostrich leg, just a crazy look
  3. Awesome work! Love the look of you color scheme
  4. Any certain brand and style preference you recommend?
  5. Thanks that helps a lot!
  6. After looking at a few more pics you are correct. Are the edges thinned down before wrapping and what tool might be used to thin it down, is there something other than a skiver?
  7. Here is another pic http://stonecreekstraps.com/data/storage/attachments/3a82df762aa61c5ee69cef306520148b.jpg
  8. Looking at some watch straps and wondering how to roll leather edges and how to achieve this look
  9. That is just freakin sick! love it
  10. Any interest in selling a lacing kit, with hooks and cords?
  11. Thanks! It is both, this is my first bag so not an expert at bag design or assembly. I am not sure how well it handles wear n tear since this seems to be an untreated cork, except reading that cork is really durable.
  12. Yes, typically anything thin like lizard I lay on top of 4-5 oz. leather. A lot easier if you just fold over the thin material, no skiving required, rather than folding both materials.
  13. Well the whole front side of this strap was cork, was using the pic to display how I fold over the material. If you were using a thicker material you could cut a piece 70mm in length and glue a top/front piece, 130-140mm, skive the ends down thin then fold over. with the spring bar allowance comes to about 74-75mm in length
  14. Here is a pic of folded over back, using thin cork so laid over 4 oz leather. If I can get larger pieces I just folder over where possible
  15. I usually make the fold approx. 30mm and use a cut down wire hanger to give me the through holes for the spring bars, if you are using Chicago screws then you may need a lil more material. You could use a thin piece of soft material as backing to conceal the fold and screw backs, for comfort and design.
  16. Thank you I will have to check it out! As for the strap 1" buckle is 26mm according to watches. I typically make a common size of 75mm/130mm, the 130mm just gets smaller or larger depending on customer. the back depends on the material I am using, if I have a solid piece I will just fold it over and cut down to length, if it is a thin piece I will add a second piece as backing then skive down the tips of the front piece, fold over, glue, then stitch. I can get pics of it later today for you.
  17. Anyone who makes watch straps or uses a filler/padding in ther leather projects happen to know what material to use as a filler, or I should say padding?
  18. Got it, thanks
  19. Not sure, I have a few nice patterns of cork to play with just have to think of a new design
  20. I picked up the cork on etsy. https://www.etsy.com/shop/agulhanaopica
  21. Thank you both! Yes it is cork from a cork tree and no I do not have a wooden presentation box for everything...lol...I just thought it would be cool/clever to present the cork clutch in a wine case with burgundy filler.
  22. Nice!! looks awesome. Is there any instructions anywhere to explain how to baseball stitch?
  23. Just wanted to share one of the projects I have been working on and finally completed. Handmade womens clutch made of Portuguese cork w/ suede lining in a hand stained wine crate. Pretty stoked about how this project came out, from bag to packaging , hope you like and thanks for looking. __________________
