  1. George, your stuff always looks so clean...Very nice!..great pattern and execution..
  2. Very Nice, i think the color is spot on, picks up the color from the grips really well...great job!
  3. i bet that horsehide was a bear to tool...i took one look at particles' tooling and knew i could never come close, so now my tools are distractions for my uber creative daughter...one day im gonna hire her to tool anything i need...is this your first horsehide?...i usually use it like you did, as reinforcement pieces, but the other day i did a full panel on the back and dyed it and was amazed at how it took the dye...sort of mottled effect...i think it would look great on your holster...stitch lines look good, but after seeing shooter mcgavins double stitch lines, I really think its the way to go...it adds a whole new depth to the look...now, for the serious part...what on earth are you using for a backdrop?...is that pink denim?...lol...
  4. colors look great, and i love exotics...elephant especially, even though its a little difficult to cut and edge....the wings, or the spacing between the stitch line and the belt slot look a little long to me, but thats just my humble opinion, all that matters is how it rides...i keep mine pretty short to suck it up nice and tight....where did you score the elephant?..
  5. what kind of leather are you using?...the retention strap on the first one looks like its cracking a little...the design is really good, the stitch line placement is excellent in my opinion...revolvers are a bit more difficult than auto's in my opinion, and you did good...the only thing i dont get is the reinforcement piece on the second one...its looks a little puny..usually i stop the reinforcement piece just after the cylinder, any particular reason you extended it?..do you have a wire or metal band hidden in there?...
  6. You got to love that...excellent work as always Dan. Ive got a pile of snake that im not ready to play with yet. Ive got a ring lizard crust that is waiting on dye though..full panel for a 1911 SOB for a buddy of mine at the local gun shop...if i can nail the od green dye, it should look killer with the sig scorpion...did you have to dye the snake to get it just right?..im really digging those double stitch lines...
  7. Nice Lobo...just hope your dog doesnt get ahold of your belt...or if he does, time to make some chaps...
  8. old bandsaw blades...lol...seriously though, i have thought alot on doing this...grind the teeth off and sew it up...
  9. nah, plenty of leather in the trigger guard to stop it from comming out, i bet you can even hear it click in when he seats it...
  10. Big O, you hit it...thats what i had to do...once i figured it out, it made sense, dealing with x and y axis and a bunch of other random trigonometry just made my head hurt..lol.. TO, feel free to steal it...just dont let the significant other hear you say it, or you will have to explain how you know so much about washed out strippers like i did..lol
  11. You know, a glock is kinda like a washed up stripper...not real easy on the eyes, but they sure do know how to work it..lol..
  12. I think it looks fine Jake, and while i dont disdain closed toe holsters, because in reality, the customer gets what he or she wants, i dont really understand the concept them. I am also having a hard time with the snap on holsters...i just cant wrap my mind around the purpose of a snap on OWB....but then again, im getting to that point in life where i can claim that im too old to change my ways...not quite grumpy yet, but leaning that way...the consruction of the holster is great though, and i think the boning is fine...very subtle and not overdone..
  13. Ive carried a sig on duty now for the last 12 years, and they are wonderful guns, but id rather carry my glock off duty, if for no other reason than its sits differently and rubs in different places, relieving the hot spots caused by the sig...in reality, both of the guns i wear the most are too big for concealed carry of any sort, but my choice in the matter is limited by policy..so i make the best out of what i have to work with i couldnt get another stitch line in there spaced consistantly due to the steep angle of the pistol and the rail section, i was debating putting one on the outside of the current one
  14. i dont know about the leather, but i would discolor my pants when it went off for sure
  15. they got the right idea, but the need to cover the entire grip with it instead of trying to make it look all artst fartsy...gun designers need to stop watching martha stewart and pop in a few old john wayne classics...
  16. i used kydex the last time i made one...060 i believe...i didnt heat it, just sewed it in between, bent it, and used a few extra clips when i folded and glued it up...it worked great, the tension kept the mouth always pulling open...
  17. This is something i have thought of as well...cant figure out a way around just checking the bobbin every now and then
  18. Hey all, i just got a stiff lizard crust in for a holster overlay...is there anything special i need to do with it...i dont plan on dying it...do i need to do anything to soften it up before i glue, sew and finish it?
  19. Thanks Shooter...i saw it on your overkill holster and thought, that looks cool, im gonna have to start incorporating that...i probably should have done the trigger guard area the same way, but t be honest, when i sewed it up, i didnt know how well the placement was going to be and didnt want to have to cut 2 stichlines...i may add it in here in a few days, but im already behind again and i still havent got to do any reloading yet...to few hours in a day...
  20. dont be a hater..lol...they go bang each time i pull the trigger, eat anything i put into it, dont comp;lain when i forget to clean it, it never rusts, and holds 14 rounds of 357 sig wholesomeness...what is not to like?
  21. Yeah, i love the glock's, all except the grip area...the finger grooves had to go and the grip isnt aggressive enough, so a few hours with a bent soldering iron to reshape and stipple it..one of my hobbies, or it was when i had play money, is gunsmithing...i still build the occasional ar or 1911, but the days of sinking 2500 into a rifle build are sadly over, so now i just try to improve upon what i have in the most cost effective manner possible... Thanks Jake...
  22. Hey all, I finally found time to work on something for me..we all know the cobblers kids go barefoot, but mine are finally clad...ive been hating on my glock alot here lately, it seems that every design ive seen was just ugly...then i saw Shooter Mcgavins glock overkill holster and learned that you can make a good looking glock rig...so i set about collecting my thoughts and looking at different leathers and colors...i finally came up with this, and after a long battle with math, geometry, and other math that i still dont fully understand, i finally got the stitchline right...the dark panel is shark, the light panel is elephant, i lined it with cow and the outer back panel is horse...i like it...i finished it with a coat of angelus 600 ....the only thing im not 100% on at this time is the single stitch line at the trigger guard...not sure if i want to leave it that way or add another line..
  23. sorry for the pun, but the cs osbourse just isnt cutting it anymore..its great for long straight cuts, but i make holsters and those types of cuts are as rare as seal hides....so im thinking leather wrangler, but im balking at the hefty price tag..i really like the pattern of it though, it seems it would handle tight bends and curves well....are there any other knives out there similar to these without having to pawn one of my dear children to buy one?
