The way Dwight explained it is exactly how I did mine. The armor on my husband is thicker though. His is about 8-9oz. The leather set on my daughter is about 5oz.

My First Project
ReneeCanady replied to Nomadiccorpse's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Well I think you did really well especially for your first time ever! If you stay with the art (and you should) you will slowly find out how to do other things like finishing edges. You will find yourself buying a few tools for each project you want to do and then before you know it you have more leather tools in your house than Tandy carries lol. -

Ghillies for my Wife...

http://www.yourfantasycostume.com/tutorials-and-patterns/tutorial-making-iron-age-viking-irish-ghillies-leather-shoes Here is a link to a tutorial I used a while back. It would have been great if I used the correct leather. I think mine was a tad thick, but they fit perfectly. They just didn't feel so good LOL -
That's what I get for just skim reading lol sorry. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome! I checked out your shop I see that you have mastered the double loop lace

I like most things that are out of the norm. I think they are neat. You will get much better by the time you make that many lol. I too just made my first quiver the other day for my husband. Mine is more for a costume, but I used a cardboard poster tube inside to keep it round.

Went to Tandy today and noticed they raised the prices of the propeller gear conchos by a dollar! I am sad.
-
Great advice from you both! Sylvia, I have to check them out again. Last time I looked they didn't carry that concho, but they may have it now. Thanks!

OMG! That is the cutest thing! I say you turn it into a cup and start drinking mead while your friends are playing.

If you want to go that route Mojo, A.C. Moore and Joann Fabrics both sell stuff called plaster of paris and that works pretty well for casting. They even sell it in strips that you just cut, and dunk in water. I have never tried either of them on the face, but I have used them both to make a complete mold of my husbands torso to wet mold a leather armor suit to. It was heavy doing an entire chest/torso area lol.

You are very welcome

I found some at a place called Sally's Beauty Supply or something like that. Anywhere they would sell things for beauty supplies for hair stylists, barbers etc.. They had some that were really life like and also had some made from styrofoam. The styrofoam ones were even nice and solid.

I can't help but to smile when I see this! I too am/was a huge RPG geek. I started playing D&D when I was a teenager which then led me to playing Everquest. I guess I will go on to admit that I not play World of Warcraft LOL. Awesome idea and well done. Next is the D20?

I can see it. Pretty neat!

Yep, veg tanned leather. You can make it whatever color you wish.

I agree. Try using acrylic paints on them.

I love these! It's amazing now how many people you see on the forum and on FB. I never would have put both names together. I think everyone needs a pair of those stools!
