Belt Liner
seabee replied to seabee's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Good day all, A little update, I did glue a liner on after sanding on a belt sander and this morning I trim the liner by under cutting it to round over the edge a little. I than lightly sanded, burnished, and dyed the edge. I going to hand stitch the belt tomorrow. Thanks you all for helping on this Seabee P. S. Dwight, Your S&W Shield pattern worked great. I used the holster least week to renew my permit. Thank you for sharing Seabee -
Belt Liner
seabee replied to seabee's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Bigfoote, Thanks for responding. I plan on trying to a add the liner just to see what happens and to gain some knowledge. Its a regular 8/9 oz. belt I made it for a friend. If I knew he was going hang a full size size 1911 on it, I would have made him a gun belt. Ether way he'll have a good gun belt Thanks Again, Seabee -
Good day, Can a liner be added to a finished belt? I think I would have to remove the finish glue and stitching on the liner.

Arbor Press modifications for snaps/stamps
seabee replied to Firewalker's topic in Leather Machinery
Hey all, I use Barry King hand snap setter, and Tandy rivet setter. I can't justify buying a press. I use a book press (from a yard sale for $5) for letter stamps. Seabee- 11 replies

I could not find double shoulder on their website. Do they only sale sides and bends? I should just call them in the morning. Thanks Howard

Morning, I clamp a 5' 1x4, face down to my bench. That makes a fence for the belt to rest against so it doesn't move around. And, I go slow when cutting the border. Hope this helps, Seabee

Thank you all for responding, I bought a cutting board from Amazon, HDPE 1/4 x 24 x 48 for $40 free shipping. My cutting table is 28" x 8'. This will give me a cutting area, and work area. I have a different bench for sewing and tooling. Thank you again Seabee

Good Morning All, Has anyone used the large Sullivan cutting mat from Joann Fabric? I an wondering if sharp leather knifes cut thru the mat. Should I think about covering it with HDPE. Thanks, Seabee

Hi, Dwight, Sorry I didn't answer sooner, Wife said she wanted fresh trout for sunday dinner. We drove up to are property at Bishop. We like fishing the Owen River, it about 3 miles down the road. I would like to make your looped holster in the first picture, if its OK with you. I really like that design. i've never molded front only with a flat back before, Looks like a fun project. Seabee, Have a great day

Dwight, My Wife carries a Sig P238 HD. I don't like clip holsters. They are easy to put on and off, but they just don't feel right. I going to make a loop IWB for the Shield. Your looped holster is very nice. Do you notice any problems with the loops being close together? I would like to try to make a case/pouch holster with a belt loop, just don't know how to start. Seabee Have a great day

I went to deliver a holster for a 1911 today. When Bob was writing the check, I noticed he was left handed. Started another holster today. I told him to keep the holster for his son. He's right handed. He wanted to pay for both but, I don't work that way. Now, I've known Bob for 40 years, and also served together in the Navy. We've been known to tip a few cold one together. His wife couldn't stop laughing about the holsters. So, we had a few cold ones. Seabee

Hi all, I have a question about belt lining and double layer belts? I bought some belt lining straps from Springfield Leather last year. The leather is great. My problem is that its wider than the belt blank. I tried using a strap cutter, but it hard to get an even straight cut. Would you glue the two straps together and than trim the sides with a knife? Thanks for listening, Seabee

Mattsbagger, Thank for the heads up. I'll order it in the morning. Thank you, Seabee

Good evening all, A great 77 degrees today. I been trying to find information for making a case holster pattern. There's a lot of info on forming the case, but how do you start making the pattern? What to take into consideration when laying out pattern? I want to make sure that there's enough leather when doing the forming. Thanks, Seabee
