  1. Great job. A very nice mix between the wolf, basket weave, and moon in the background. The design feels balanced.
  2. Nice overall design for a one day project.

  5. I enjoyed seeing the process. Thanks for posting.
  6. I just finished this for my brother. It's the first piece I completed worth sharing. It's made from 5/6 oz. veg tan and dyed with Fiebing's USMC Black. I used mink oil and Resolene to finish. The gussets and straps were saddle stitched. I intentionally left the edges unfinished. That stark raw edge and black had a certain appeal to me on this bag. I owe a lot of you regulars here a big thank you for all the tips on hand-stitching and dyeing. I'm constantly reading and trying new techniques. Here are pics, feel free to add comments on construction, finish, etc.
  7. That is one stylish practical drill holster! Very creative design.
  8. Just bumping an old thread. I'm making a tool bag for my brother's bike. He wanted a black finish so I did a good bit of reading about black dye and tried the method described by ChaChi below. My results have been very satisfactory. After finishing the piece, there is no black rubbing off and the color/finish is a very dark impressive black color. There is more than one way to skin a cat and this one worked for me. Thanks ChaChi!
  9. Love the design and construction!
  10. Just wanted to update this thread and say I am receiving much better results after diluting the dye. Thank you all for your advice!
  11. A very clean and nicely done piece. The recipient will love it.
  12. Gorgeous work!
  13. Thanks for the tip Chuck. I've read spraying is the way to an even application of color. Right now I am using a dauber and its taken a bit of practice to apply an even layer of dye. It's been a fun learning experience.
  14. Thanks for the replies. I'm going to dilute the color to achieve an acceptable tone.
  15. Hi all, I'm having a problem finding the color I want. I ordered a bottle of Fiebing's British Tan and the color is more a dark red/burgundy/oxblood color!! Using a dauber and a light coat on veg tan the color contains much more red than what I expected judging from the chart below. I can understand and accept a bit of color variation but the color I received is way too red! I'm not sure if I can dilute the current color down to a respectable British Tan. Has anyone experienced this and can recommend a color close to either British Tan or Buckskin? I don't have access to a brick and mortar shop and would rather not buy half a dozen colors online hoping to stumble on the right one! Thanks!
  16. Agreed, clean simple design. The buffalo head coin snap is a great touch.
  17. Beautiful work.
  18. electrathon I applaud your attempt to produce what a dwindling group of modern high end shoe companies are doing. This art of hand-made footwear is slowly fading away in the face of cheap imports. Keep up the amazing work!!
  19. Very impressive. This is taking leatherwork to the next level. I look forward to seeing future projects!
