  4. This is a new item with more info to come soon but wanted to show off this one quick. I use X-Acto knives daily in my shop from leather cutting to pattern cutting to weeding decals and stencils from my vinyl plotter to just everyday general use. The ability to use different blade shapes, quick blade changes just make them very versatile for me. As like most of us, I like my tools and most other things to be nice and a little different then what everybody else has so I came up with this. It's an X-Acto knife with class and guaranteed to be like no other. This is my personal one but I will be working on a few others today and will make this available in my tool lineup. They will come with the square piece of wood. Since the cap no longer fits with the added thickness of the wood you simply place the knife in the hole, which has cork at the bottom to not damage the blade. When using the cutter you simply lay it in the groove so you don't have to worry about it rolling off your workbench and it's always at the ready. Stay tuned for more info and pictures of these cutters. Strap
  5. I wanted to start a thread with all my offerings in one place to make it easier to manage. As seen in a previous post this is my strap pony. Handmade using rough cut cherry lumber which I surface and mill myself. Sanded smooth to 400g and finished with a coat of tongue oil. Much like leather, cherry will darken and patina over time. Not only does it work as a great stitching pony for belts and straps it also works great to hold your piece when burnishing the edges. The pony measures Base- 6" wide 16" long Rails- 3" wide 24" long The pony features four knobs for securing your work piece. Two lower knobs allow the rails to be tilted to give better access to your piece if needed. The rails are lined with cork to not markup your work piece. Price is $70.00 shipped in the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery as each one is made at the time of the order. To place an order simply contact me here or at my email at jwcraftsman@gmail.com
  6. The pictures are showing up ok for me. Is anybody else having issues viewing the photos?
  7. Two of the three strap ponies that were shipped out early this week. All made from rough cut cherry which I surface and mill. Much like leather the cherry will darken and patina over time. Slight price increase to $70.00 shipped as I was given an incorrect shipping quote by my local USPS.
  8. Pam, You can find the downloadable pattern and instructions for this wallet here http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=54776

  10. Over the next several weeks I will introducing/offering several of the tools I make for leather working. First up is my belt/strap stitching pony. Handmade using 3/4" cherry wood sanded smooth to 400g and finished with tongue oil to give the cherry a nice durable finish. As with leather, cherry will darken over time. Not only does it serve as a stitching pony for straps and belts it also works great for holding your piece during your burnishing treatment. The pony measures: Base- 6" wide 16" long Rails- 3" wide 24" long The pony features 4 knobs for securing your workpiece, 2 lower knobs allowing the pony to be tilted and rails are lined with cork so no marking up your workpiece while its clamped in the pony. Price is $60.00 shipped in the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery as each item is made at time of order. Any questions or interest in ordering please contact me at jwcraftsman@gmail.com -Jason
  11. Are you dying and putting finish on prior to cutting your slits? What is the optimal weight leather, I used 2oz but it seemed too "floppy" like it didn't want to hold the braid.

  13. I think that's a great idea!
  14. No advice on burnishing thin leather?
  15. Great tutorial, thank you for taking the time to do this. Have a question for everybody. When using thin leather, 2/3oz for things like card pockets for wallets how do you do it? I'm able to get a decent edge in the leather but it's so flimsy and soft that it just mushrooms the edge and by the time I'm done with all my steps it just doesn't look good. It's so thin it feels impossible to hold it without it just flopping around. I've tried sandwiching the leather between two rulers but still less then desirable results. Any advice or edges just better left unfinished for wallet pockets?
  16. In the very first picture can you tell me what the colors are from left to right? I'm interested in the third from the left but don't know if that's the beige or the colonial tan. Thanks!
  17. Awesome! That is bada$$
  18. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can have custom sized rubber stamps made with my logo to use on my packaging materials, small bags, boxes etc
  19. I would like to add snaps to this pattern how much length do you think would need to be added to accommodate them? Thanks for the pattern I look forward to giving it a try.
