  1. My first attempt at a three legged camp stool. Even though the center piece is not centered i am really happy with only my second ever project carving and tooling. since this is for me to use when conducting archaeology in the field i don't mind imperfections in execution of carving and tooling,
  2. very beautiful work, i know the colorado cowpokes will love them.
  3. very nice wallets. i really like the black one best..always like a good basketweave,
  4. Hey all; So this is my first ever project that i did tooling and carving on. The sheath shape i created by laying my K-Bar knife on the leather, tracing it, then expanded the sketch to provide stitching and tooling. The tooling was applied by me just trying out the various tools I have so its not supposed to be really anything professional looking. The skull idea i borrowed from another person on here cuz i really liked it. I carved the skull freehand then tooled it. i wanted the skull to be the color of the leather after i oiled it, but i found out later the resist i used is water based and the dye is oil based, thus the dye went right through the resist. but it still came out looking killer. So please comment, good or bad, it is my first real project other than a sporran, a side pouch, and a possibles bag, all of which have no decoration just sewn leather.
  5. beautiful work frank..hopefully someday i will be this good.
  6. just finished my new sporran and side pouch. they are made from a buffalo hide i bought at my local native-american craft shop. i know the edges are rough, thinking about lacing them next week. but other than that i am very pleased for my very first leather project. the buttons are authentic IRA buttons from the 1916 war against england, that Ireland won for the most part. like everyone else here comments, both positive and negative are welcome

  14. Hiyas All; Been lurking for a bit now trying to garner good ideas for my leather work. Man have i gotten loads of great ideas. Just finished a side pouch and a sporran for my kilt.Made them out of some excellent buffalo hide. Just started on a knife sheath for my K-Bar Knife and a scabbard for my machette. I am an archaeologist so experimenting with stuff is in my blood and I am hoping to get good enough at leather work to supliment my income during the winter months when I am not in the field doing archaeology. I want to say thanks to everyone for letting me watch conversations and view their work, and a special thank you to those whos ideas I have copied, you will know who you are when I start uploading some of my work for critique. Cheers Tadhg
