Seeking Most Well Rounded Compound Feed Walking Foot Machine
brmax replied to steveleather's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Its not in any way an easy decision it requires a choice, and we all either new or seasoned leather workers will do or have did it. Focusing on shuttle style as again, never put one in my hand, I see 69-415 and 69-277 this adjustment is great but no matter to change thread requires tension and possibly hook adjustment. I'm thinking flat beds here so correct me please if hook is not generally adjusted and where in the range can I be free of it. Where I was heading there is the long and short arm is only a choice for length for projects and I really need to select leather weights or make a tension change. ( basically, I understand leather conditions can be optimized with experience ) I'm really where a cylinder arm is needed but choosing between beneficial use in my present work or more in some desired leather work. For example using 92 thread and changing to 277 for next day needs and then back following day, I'm confident I can do it just haven't yet so a tip here can help. Hope not to screw up the thread here or jack it all up, making the choice with a bit more knowledge sure makes it easier for myself. Good day there Floyd -
Seeking Most Well Rounded Compound Feed Walking Foot Machine
brmax replied to steveleather's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have some of the same considerations, with some flatbeds running 92. So what comes to mind for me is thread change, and that's if the machine will use it "easily". I find the cylinder arms will for the most part or any with shuttle will use many larger sizes, I think as a green horn anyway. But how much of a pain is tension setting and really! can the hd springs ease off enough for say 92 for doing some other task I do. That's where I'm at and seriously interested in your great question, I think it can be a universal question for cyl or flat bed machines. great question Floyd -
Yes Sir, thank you very much Mikesc. Vive la France I and another Soldier had a nice new years weekend in Paris 81-82, Thanks for welcome and great time at the Arc De Triomphe Maleman This machine had good bearings and bushings, with no shaft rust or the like. I picked it up at an estate sale to learn what a sew machine was made of, and with this do something with the knowledge. I listened and searched a lot, ask some questions, but to be real clear this site was and still is instrumental in sew machinery. Some parts were obtained from the net, but primarily I talked to Bob at Toledo Sewing for some information on specs and purchased some notions and got a tip to Singer parts from him so was able to get a few small parts from the factory also. Another member here Greg at Keystone, I was able to get a table top and motor this all worked good through the time I was working up the machine. great support here I wanted to use it in canvas work period, and so set it up for 92 thread and using 135x17 An experience for sure for a retired construction and diesel mechanic, thanks to the site here, lots of stuff in past post. I had quite a bit of time doing all the work, it sews great, though it makes you want other machines as well, so always on the hunt. This machine here is not a walker and has no reverse so with that knowledge this is a top dog for what its made for. I will leave that information up to the pros here on the site, what I can say finally is be patient in your search, this is something I am very good at except for the waiting part, that bites me. good day Floyd

I'm trying to consider the organization of it, like the ability to view these. Sometimes these are viewable to the post as a link without having a membership. And then again some photos are not viewable without logging on as a member. So is the post considering an embedded video where a log-in is required to be viewable. checking to see if I'm on the same page here I do know enough that in some way an organization of these would be needed and that's work and could hurt my one feeling, but I'm lucky knowing I have one because my brother told me, ya know you do have 1 feeling Floyd

Sounds like your on a roll, my 212 is not a walking foot machine but its ability makes it a pretty smooth machine. Went through machine when starting and now its a top dog again. Floyd

Are you familiar with any of the local places for machines around you. Some times a good find pops up now and then on craigs, but with the above tips you have now your ready. Under your location and interest, whats your interest in machining mean, milling and metal lathe materials ? Anyway just figuring a gauge or needle separating width I suppose is the choice now. If you find something just a mention what it is and you can get some more great information, no need mention where you see any. I would take a look at something with reverse, as I'm not sure how best to lock some stiches with out it. Good day there Floyd

Uwe, Thanks! for the excellent video work there, its enough work just explaining and or sharing. So a Big! thumbs up for the over the top work, talking Oscar talk Good day there Floyd

Bob, that is a great write up, hits the points really clear. I say Thank You for the excellent work. I will continue to look through these again as I know many others will benefit the same. At the present using excel is going to be a new. I am a always interested in and find myself a stickler doing an organizing part and like it, or what the outcome is. Makes me grin some with your comment finding more efficient ways, for some essential activities we have to do. Somehow I begin to think some feel the very same in tooling or other parts of these task as I do in this Inventory thing. The pages you share are appreciated. Thanks Floyd

Hi, I was interested how Leather workers here that sell their products, and I'm not sure on the tax kinda stuff in the great north, but anyway how they might use Schedule c tax form 1040 in a business setting. I am starting to work with this in a small business and looking for some more general tips on methods like charts, clipboards, spreadsheets etc. A general startup conversation in the business subject, I'm looking at different pages on uncle sams site to get some information, and this leads to items like I mentioned for myself to get a count of items used in the year, and use it as a value sold or inventory for the new years books. I have a more than a few snaps and most of you know they are different pieces to make up, and so counting and charting of some sort. I believe this is just a example, like rings, eyelets, hides, yards or meter of bridle leather etc. So primarily the interest is in goods sold, though any supply conversation is cool. Good day there Floyd

Hi you all, Can some of you explain any! Inventory organization tips for sch c , like part 3 stuff. I am new here and there, So basic setup is I'm beginning work with quickbooks pro desk version and 2014. I haven't made much of any list, so supply has most/all and it needs organized. I have found the best machine information on the site here 3 years ago and just want to ask here, I know I can get the same, just not sure the best questions, and don't want to screw it up. Thanks Floyd

Welcome to the forum Stoner14! Question does the machine bottom have some stand bolts, I wonder if it has them, probably does. Its possible another pan will work that's not as deep, and reason I Stopped to say, is I find on mine my knees are to dang close. Not like the 1541 I have with its shorter/shallow pan, something Gregg would be able to answer better. I know if I had a pan that the knee lever hole was the proper place and shallow, I would be using it as 2-1/4 is better than 4-1/4 deep. but I just push back, but anyhow any pan is way better than none, hope something comes up for ya soon. I think you will be totally happy when things get all setup, so best luck there Good day Floyd

Random Loops In Stitching, Please Help
brmax replied to NewYorkerInSydney's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have the same model and had the very same issue, I believe mine is taken care of now by more top tension or tighter though before it seemed correct. I ran 6 on the stitch length and had a consistent 8 stiches then a loop that a pencil lead would fit on the topside all else in the stitch looking perfect to me, sometimes they would not be as pronounced but there around 8-10th. I re checked the adjustments it seemed dead on everything and this was a gov warehoused machine never used "none" anyway with no results including trying to understand and adjust the thread pull up tension spring setting. All this time running 92 coats ultra poly and solarfix 2000 though not as much issue with the latter, using new and changing 18-19 needles. I had known from checks a minimum clearance between basket tab and feed dog cover plate, though the spec range as I recall from notes .039+-.004 and mine is .035 with this I did not order a different or thinner thrust washer as I did not no the size needed from what I had in there, bad part was I had the hook out previously but not for this issue unknown at that time (could kick myself). I don't mean to reopen this problem or to barge in here but I cannot say how much this I know sounds exactly like the issue I had and hope done with. The puzzling thing was to me why every 8-10 perfect stitches, If I understood better what the thread is actually doing through all this cycle it would help. I don't know but do know the guys that posted already, totally do. Good day there -
So its not a woven material and I guess that is going to happen to some extent. Probably be a bit better with certain leather points, an unwanted but possible change is maybe a feed plate with smaller hole not so oblong, though Im sure some thing else could help. It has to cut through leather to perform better though im sure of that, patience and one of the pros will give an option. Good day there

Buying A Juki 1541S - I Have A Few Questions
brmax replied to Bonadrag12's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The table/k-stand measures 48"Lx22"Wx30"H, With any tooling that is included (a screw driver) so the v-belt guard on the right side if installed, can be removed so tilting the machine head back for some inspection is possible now that would be great, its like 4 screws. Anyway you already know running the machine as sewing a patch of something is great, but looking at the oil level in the tank when tilting the machine head back is obviously there and just a general looksee for clean metal and not results from a wet area like rust. No matter transporting you will want to remove these parts, As the industrials tilt back the machine can be removed from the table. These are like 50-80lbs just the white part on that one is the in the high numbers. Some of them have on the needle end an inspection door or removable 3 screw cap and allows a inspection, door is nice and 85bucs. Im sure that hatch back can haul the k-stand but take a few small cresent wrenches to remove the thread stand. The motor if a clutch type when moving can be cantankerous as it weighs a lot, a lot. so watch it. Another helper would be the ticket, also I purchased a couple flat moving ? carts from harbor freight a couple years ago for helping the moving of items, these are have 4 wheels and a square frame of simple wood about 16x16 and handy as I have a k stand setting on them now moving around the shop getting a new top installed. hope some of that helps and its a great memorial find, later -
It should not contact the hook, and it would not be a good idea to bend the hook in any way. You will have to move the good hook over a bit, I think they call it the saddle as that's the casting holding the hook assy. You might take a look at some singer post on here they are unmatched on the net . There is a guard on the hook and it also has an adjustment, get some pop corn and do a search you will enjoy it as you have a singer. Good day there

Thanks Gregg I was checking out the parts book last week and usually they are great for showing the different parts. Parts books were a big part of my past and appreciate all of them, yet many time you just have to ask the dealers. Im sure they do illustrate in some other manual, anyway I have a better pic now so I can work through the small stuff. With your help and the bobbin information I can share some parts and that's works for me. The hook guard / bobbin case holder pieces that screw on are a bit different looking as I see in person upclose now. Part number for both of the hooks shaft were the same so figuring that there was some possibility?. I would have replied sooner but left at 7 and went to pick it up, Now it's home and looking to get some 92 loaded. thanks for the tips, and good day there

Morning! Can I get some specifics on the differences in the part itself or themselves and if I can interchange to some extent. The parts are the Hook, bobbin case. I have the Juki 1541S and getting a 1541, I have considered the thought of changing other main parts but I assume the part cost would be to much even if I did the work. So any discussion I would appreciate, Thanks. Good day there

WOW! them pics say a lot to me 1 .........cannot write that......... 2 Bothers me one hell of a lot it wasn't gave to someone instead of sold 3 ..........cannot write that either .......................... Eric Thanks for helping out, 3 cheers !!!

Slow down a bit, keep an eye out around the City edges. I guess a 211 all crated up with plywood and structure might weight that, sounds about right. A walking foot and high clearance with reverse, a servo motor will knock off a lot of weight. good day there

Just to add something there, from right to left is the Hook, basket/inner hook, bobbin case, and bobbin, then the positioning finger. Probably some thread between the basket and hook, the 6 screws holding guards on the hook can be removed and the basket/inner hook can be removed with some patience. In this area you can see and or find obstructions/thread also this is an area that needs oil so the checking and monitoring of that at speeds you use will benefit ya down the road. good luck and keep us posted

Brian that part in the juki parts book is called: bobbin case positioning finger # 214 03704. From the little I know as the series machine is new to me, It helps organize the thread from the hook. Trying to understand the same specific parts a bit more myself, but anyway the "basket/ bobbin case holder" is held in the 12:00 position with a slot that the tab you mention sets in. The "opener" they call it moves the basket/inner hook slightly letting the thread pass by. Good day and the brilliant minds will stop in
