Any idea which Seiko this machine is?
brmax replied to sparky20006's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
If you need a machine I would get that one, and up the street that's cool. Looks like it has had some touch up painting, so take it for a Run! Seems to have a Singer look also so one of the 111-157 experts can explain Good day Floyd -
Kinda splitting hairs here but I think when the hook is a hair past tdc and enough to retain any available slack in the loop its ok. A or one reason is the needle is not pulling a lot of tension as going up but maybe another parts function in time " wow" I'm done. Have a good Friday everybody Floyd

I get a grin from that as still very new to the game person, It may well be true Seiko cloned "but" if true I would easily say better than original. That's just my opinion and can be like shoes everybody has some! Floyd

Some feet have a rougher machine finish and could be cleaned up a bit inside with a wood stick type cotton swab and some oil or similar then rinsed proper with some thinner types. Its likely a good thing for you, the fit that is. If afterwards from above tips tried with cleaning and needle bar checks, are good then the needle hole might be addressed so I picked up a tip and here to pass it along. I found that using an abrasive product for the needle hole mis-alignment in the presser foot can work well. The "tuning" of this part is needed sometimes as many many feet are, that fall in the price range a lot of us use. A cord product I found helping this work is called Mitchell Abrasive and using this with the presser foot "off" the machine in a holder is required and best. I had tried 2 different grits and found it a good decision, and its available several places and likely other brands also but the type /style is very handy for many task. Good day there Floyd

Surely they would have split the group of machines up. I suspect myself would also like to have came home with something. Its easy to understand another big factory buyer swooped up the load. Curious

Seen the wheels also, good eye Mikesc Couldn't resist chiming in "get the wheels also", re sell or keep they will bring as much or more as they have many many times I seen at sales. Or just points for you good day there Floyd

I found the old singer 212, I have has the plate on the bottom of the hook also it is probably smaller if it did match in thickness. I think that one your working on has a bigger bobbin. Maybe a good time to measure as its in the "proto type staging". It sure has my interest especially seeing the threaded holes that I could see being used, possibly a bigger singer or other model big 255 consew. I did notice the 1508 I mentioned didn't have the plate so will take a look next time for results when I put poly in. projects for the new month always busy Good day Floyd

I think your on to something there, as the general search I typed in "budget machines" and 16 pages popped up with 391 results and so glancing over the 1st page I recall 211, 1341, 545, 441 and more so this chart will surely expedite a grouping you could say. But I will say we may very well miss a great deal of historical education, and the need to offer another form of self generated experience. As many things we do in the movement towards the goal, the sometimes unknowns on the path result in a better understanding in further steps. In ways of efficient selection in a professional world we make choices of "new" because many older things have been proven and redesigned in so many ways to be easier and within new materials. It should be drilled that though very good machines of design each may need professional work in basic and could also be at a cost. These cost are most likely first talents of interest and pursued towards professional trained techniques gained at cost and time. This can be seen as another very important and in the same feeling from the Old School and termed experience matters. Good day and lets enjoy this what you started, thanks Dave Floyd

Totally understand Mike, I was turning around looking at mine a 212, it I'm sure has the option in parts books but mine just a plain ole guide. We are in agreement inquiring minds here as members are always interested in the great experience others share. I had to step over and took a better look at a 1508 and sorry! spring has no issue here at this point as it the hook is way past this take up spring in its cycle, I'm seeing its finished its job at needle material entry so slack is now in design ?(I think and ask) Now am I in school? I am running solarfix in that machine so the same action is keeping thread in memory for a 1/2" or the hook gap anyway, but this could very well be the same with some other poly or nylon so I am considering twist in thread also at the moment. I would say the 1341 has many hook aspects of others and I don't know enough to say which but will go on to say the hook has a plate on the bottom and whatever other reasons it does infact help curtail this "post" issue. The hook here has a slightly different thread resting area but with poly it comes out of that machined designed groove and as mentioned kept in check with the plate and so as hook follows through forced back in before the final release. So at this point of my homework interest, My stuff is wacked and or I need another consideration with threads also. Coffee time, and thanks for the run through no doubt always of interest Floyd

Interestingly I watched "ya got me" many rewinds also. I considered in this order initially: Weird new hook style and its lower notch, Then I looked and wondered at timing a bit, at this time remembered some mention of needle turned a bit for different issues talked about in some post. Then considered the needle pushing the thread down? as maybe scarf hole a bit small, it was late. I had also looked at the take up spring and kept saying to myself I think its design "way before me" was to be level across and it does look pretty close to that so I'm up in the air for a couple more video/look n see. Took a look around here and considered the spring/hold down after take-up lever on my juki, like an oil pad on some others, but looked at the singer and no such design so religated that for further study. Today I will commit to a spring further look and if adjustable try it, I do recall some mention of them broke yet looking perfect, fwiw. It seems no matter my other mentions the spring should have some tension and with groove in the needle letting it return somewhat. I'm here with toothpick at the cutting table in curious wait Good luck on your mission Uwe

I cannot either, and surprising you seen one also. I'm not positive where over here it was but a 431 D200A, maybe it was il somewhere that I was looking yesterday, while searching for the other models that have been mentioned of late. All the searching the model information kept bringing up home machines and even on ismacs nothing on the industrial ? But did see straight stitch not sure if compound though I think and still interested. It was a shot that nothing on the singer site above that's really confusing. If I see something will for sure post up, all these that have been talked about the last week keep the interest up. Good day Floyd

Nope cant skip the lesson Chuck : ) although its Friday. I'm sure its a lot tougher on that machine versus one with the reverse lever at a lower point, so one can push the reverse/forward lever a bit and at the same time turn the hand wheel by hand manually to land the stitch. All crossed up arms for a second for sure! but manually not to bad. Good luck with it, and its funny looking at some videos and picking up these tips as mentioned above with, oh! afterwards. I thought it was so cool to learn pulling thread from the take up lever before removing fabric/leather from needle when it and pressure foot was down just made the process a routine. Have a good day Floyd

I have been taking a interest and right now looking at 5 tops the three bolt mounting has the single bolt towards the right and closest to drive belt slot. This particular single bolt hole is factory drilled on 3 tops and I myself drilled on two other tops here with its "center" ranging 2-1/8 to 2-5/8 directly in line with its installed machines pulley centerline. My reason for posting this interest is these motors are at their extent as the bolt dia. is at the end of slot on all 4 servos 1 clutch mount. I had also noticed these motor pulleys are not designed to move or adjust as sliding on the shaft like some stuff. So I may need a mount / reducer that has ability for its machine drive pulley center to be within my tops slot and machine pulley "range". This may be a custom need I am looking into but it seems relevant, and to access the wealth of knowledge for a note takin ; ) Have a good day everyone! Floyd

Looks like they have spent a bit on new stand, clutch motor, table top plus the shipping of 80. minimum I'm sure for the this stuff. So were looking at 300.00 less the machine possibly, all these good deals around yet so far away and its the shipping of the product that is a consideration sometimes so the choosing and waiting time can be tough on interested folk. Good luck there

Best machine for non leather application
brmax replied to stickandtin's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks Eric I will keep my eye out for this model as well, it seems a younger relative to my 212g144, I would think. And with that I would like to get an extra pressure foot, though for using only a single needle for some occasions. If one has a part number handy at a breakpoint that would be cool, would most definitely deserve a pat on the back and! a "you Rock!" Appreciate your help there, have a good day Floyd -
Quite the machine in them thread sizes, now I'm curious on the gear set in the hook area. There is no doubt this series is making good use of the direct servo drives like many of these new Manufactured designs. Really appreciate the heads up on whats out there, now I need to look into the two different pitch adjustments on these, interesting for sure. I recall a few members have the 2810 and may be able to chime in on some of these particulars as well. Thanks again for the information Floyd

Sounds like quite a sale, Interested to see what they look like. Below is a link to this forum at the for sale area http://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/82-machinery-sewing-and-stitching/

Jeff I should have been a bit more clear, these needles " systems" as Wiz kindly is mentioning can sometimes fit in other machines. In that they are different lengths and needle bar adjustment would have to be made in order to be in time, sorry ! They perform better in a production standpoint for some product they need or just the location of the machines mfg. design. Floyd

Eric if you will, can you give some insight with the new 9010 Juki briefly and possibly the older models I sometimes see with interest the 550 or 5550 series. This is really part of the interest in the last month with the Singer 157, appreciated this early morn as coffee is not done : ) Thanks and good day Floyd -

Consew Model 225 Should I buy! Will it work?
brmax replied to n866's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Your here! It sounds great for your projects size mentioned, as turning the piece around for any locking the thread is easily done this way too and several other ways some can mention instruction for. Its worth what you want and have considered to give from your experience in the location or sale type. With that I would consider what usualy members talk about here from time to time, like motors and pulleys and reducers. I think the wallets could go for the standard motor setup but slowed down, though the guitar and belts can easily be on the reducer addition. The machine from my view looks good but lifting the hood and the running of it is a key so at least oil it and if possible ask for test run, no load then fabric and or leather in various thickness. Good weekend find for sure Floyd edit: oh ya like them lights, and I normally replace with the new style bulbs and way cooler on the arm and mine are irreplaceable.
