Sounds great, Wiz I was seeing it as I would get some more clearance with a thinner part, so thought it was set for smaller needle. I'm now at scarf, one thin notebook paper like .001" or less as my yellow scribble pad is 002" this is after moving the driver shaft right to gain almost/maybe .002" clearance. I have heard on some other machines a small amount of pressure on the needle is used sometimes. It possible that a need to return the driver to the left applying back some pressure or just to zero clearance is best until another part is picked up. Its all good here, good day Floyd

Hey its Friday everyone! Good Morning Adjustment clearances for these 794 type needles or 7x4nw, to be used with the shuttle driver, shuttle and the following hook/blade of the shuttle. ? What are some preferences to these with your machines if I can just Plain Ole ask. I'm going to order another race back with a thinner spec than .144" I have, just to be prepared better for running the 25 needle and over. At the present its a new learning curve for sure, and "sew" I'm enjoying checking it out, this new to me big stitch. With plenty of canvas around here I can chunked up enough in sizes to be a good test, but that's down the road. So going through "the book" and a great pdf for the 441 off the web I'm looking at this beast. I know there are some tips and tricks available to one for adjustment to a degree on all machines, and its understanding these better where I'm going here. To my knowledge the thread age is unknown its 277 nylon and I'm running a new 25LL from the pack in the drawer replacing the 25 tri point it had. Other than the usual look-see at everything, I try to check a bit on the way, an have to sometimes wonder how this or that works in these adjustment ways. I first wondered why it looks that the top thread had extra twist in each stitch "topside" and the bottom is about the same untwisted ( you all know what I mean). So this is the lead in and at the end of the post, 1 coffee and I need another. Later Floyd

Now you see my knots now you don't on my Cobra 4
brmax replied to veritasleather's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Sometimes the install of the bobbin can add tension if its installed to unload in a particular direction, and some operators may use this in a quick check way also. I would be interested in any relationship discussion within this thread path : ) Floyd- 15 replies

Even in just cool looking big thread that's not strength needed, it takes a big machine no matter what. So above 138 thread period your in a big machine class as in X HD. In the same relation but other terms 1/4" above material thickness more than 40 % of the time your in the xhd needs. With either hd or xhd your going to need a speed reducer that actually is really needed for the power boost / low end torque. If you take a look at the sew machine forum area there is a great "sticky" at the top with a machine needs topic, its a pretty good read for study and some better choices to keep you from wasting your time and funds. good day there Floyd

Thinking about making my own saddle, What should I know?
brmax replied to CorporalAgarn's topic in Saddle Construction
Finding a saddle tree that works for ya and that may be liked by others to sell, so its able to produce a decent pattern base first no matter the saddler. So some traveling and testing out sellers of these, probably is the start id say from my thinking. good day there Floyd -
This month the planets must have been right, I met a young fella through a sale item and somehow the item came up from the next State away. Its seems I was just mentioning in post how some things I missed in sales right here in my state. odd! in a way Maybe I think in this young ones future the some leather craft will be locked in for more than just this reason, the order was to take this and sell it so you can continue on in schooling when I'm gone shortly he was told. Along with for his use some older saddles he had used and kept in repair before acquiring this new machine he wanted for a good while to hobby with. Well this then 2 year old Cobra 4 finally parted ways now after and at the 3rd year of college from the uncovering to sell and my luck to see the strategically placed ad and purchase. I hope the interaction with the sale and thanking this fella, now a 3rd year student and part of our military the appreciation I have for his service. If that sale is not a kicker the opportunity to meet this great youngster and make the sale was a home place on Old Historic Rte 66 To his his uncle, rest in peace Thanks Floyd

I need a step up from a 28oz for some bigger hole punches and the like, I think maybe a 48 will do it. Thanks for the tip with the backstory always cool hearing the experience, as it matters in my world! Floyd

GLOCK 43 BLUE GUN
brmax replied to CaptQuirk's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Can you throw some light on that difference with blu and alum if you will, curious! Floyd -
Sounds like a nice setup your working with. About two knuckles slack when pushing on the centered belt for tightness is all you want, though you want at least 1. I think it starts to become easier for the threads to be pulled and/or held back at 2:00 when starting about 3 stitches. After 60yards of seam take a look see ; ) Have a good day with the new machine Floyd

brmax replied to Chief31794's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Nice work there! and ya its getting that time again. Floyd -
Great idea, that's the ticket. I very seldom reload anymore and obtaining some other extras could be a pain finding more than one, thanks for the tip. Will check some of that out next time we go in there. Floyd

Hey that looks like it will work out great, seems to make good sense set in there to. u lucky dog! Maybe just sawzal on the bottom side of the 2x6 and tap them braces off the legs for re-positioning 1 board up that way that old part will still be used for granite support. Its late, just a thought. The granite wow, good score there Floyd

It may surprise ya to know how many people will travel for a day to pick up a machine, I have 3 times so local can be determined several ways to help with your sale. Several things have been on the site here and I have missed or been late to the find, and here in my State so keep this place in mind. Also craigs is a great place to post also a State away is not a big deal for myself or hasn't been. good luck in your sales or buys Floyd

I will say there has been machines advertised here in the last 5 years that would be in my shop if the shipping was not on my part to figure and package the many states away. With heart felt and good intentions It is just not feasible for a buyer to orchestrate this in an area unknown "dollar wise" imo. I have some gravel out front that would be tough rolling anything on / in so unless the truck lift gate can get to my concrete its a no go and I have to get the crawler or a tractor loader and thats a pain. So the deal is small dolly packages best, or a pallet I can pickup at a terminal or better yet drag from the lift gate here to the garage concrete. Sometimes the concrete is just not available for close delivery. For me to travel to a terminal is not that big of a deal but if its on a pallet well its still on a pallet in the truck when I get home. So summing all this up I will take lift gate delivery of whatever if its big, this is an extra charge I know. My last head was shipped in factory box all factory 4" foamed surround, then the fella cover it in 1/2 plywood and rope only a rigger could appreciate. UPS did good, I think it could have fell off the truck 20 times and been perfectly fine. Floyd

Tell me about your "Hot Box"
brmax replied to Dwight's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Some great ideas here for drying boxes, and totally understand its weird finding searches on google methods of all kinds, I find myself doing that. Anyway I couldn't resist so; whos making beef jerky with these. I thought about hatching eggs initially, then the smoker came to mind but considering the flav didn't need to go that direction. That brood heater is to cool, will have to check that out some more. So the hoki smoker still is a viable option, and as mentioned the same protection from drippings. The old fridge or any kinda box easy to move if needed and some insulation is great, with these finds maybe a regular cheap hot plate (one pan ) from some box store. have a good Friday you all Floyd -
I think its a big question with whos doing the work to prepare these items. Its not that easy when it works great imho. And whos taking it to a load dock or will/can they possibly pickup at your industrial spec dock. Something I would look into is do you want shipping insurance and who really takes that cost, but probably the most important is weather the shipment will have to be on a pallet. This we know generally requires an extra lift charge from the height of the truck body to the ground only, and generally needed in residential areas if a big delivery truck even has access close by. I think just shipping the head of a standard hd walker machine will be 200. minimum with insurance 2000k worth. Some cannot or do not have the capacity to prepare some of these heavy machines even taken apart from the table, and some I think I really question how secure the package is. Then there are persons around here I consider experts in this hd packaging like the 3/4 plywood encasement type its secure and adds to a weight, so its a balancing act for your choices. Floyd

Great looking area, really kicks with the use of the wall for inset shelf.(thumbs up) And to add to the chuckle I need to send you a new tape measure. I can tell you about the pencil sharpener, I'm going to try to get a battery powered or plugin style, these dang washout pencils are a pita, I was sharpening yesterday "a lot". They wear about 10 times faster than an ole #2 pencil, as most times I use Tyvek for some patterns, tracing and marking. The stain table you built is a smart idea for sure, good tips here! Thanks Floyd

As many here make gear for professionals and includes firearms I though this tool set was a great help for myself and I purchased it actually with my first sew machine restore and (self teaching what one is etc.) fwiw that can be worth many grins n laughs I know! Anyhow I turned wrenches professionally for 34 and used, bought, broke, and lost many and of all brands then retired and bought this a Wheeler Engineering gunsmithing screwdriver set. It's an investment for when ya need the "right one" , they have the 1/4" hex drive and numbered so this can help in some discussions. good day to ya Floyd

You might find the best fitting drive bit at your local hardware store, these are made more specific to machine screws. So generally getting the proper fitting bit will work great even trashed screws as the cheap screwdrivers like we all use sometimes don't touch the metal the proper bit uses. Lowes, home depot and ace will have a larger drive bit that will fit in the screw, so with this and some counter clockwise twist and pressure- tap the driver on top with a rawhide mallet. I would look them screws up on a machine site for replacement with a part number when that is established here soon, guaranteed shipping is way more than product. But some times we can luck out and get these at ace hardware ? sometimes ? The flip or change over screw drives I give to my kids is the ticket with a large bit, I try to keep one in the kitchen drawer "but" they fly away. good day there Floyd

Anyone heard of this brand of sewing machines?
brmax replied to kubacik's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
That's an excellent point " cylinder diameter" so the circle of items to consider, I don't have a clue of alllll the items to consider so will say as an example putting a pair of gloves for the finer among us on the cylinder to sew a seam. 10.5" circumference and about 3.25" dia for the 1341 machine this maybe the same as the 1342 but some have different options to take a look at. If that doesn't ring think cool cup! good day there Floyd -
It sounds like you may have found another machine for your projects, and a dealer with some techs close to you, that's always great. I know whats wrong with that, and its I'm to far away : ) As for the Boss I haven't used one but thought they used pretty big thread. So with the 1341 having a max bobbin size thread of 138 as the standard it may be nice to keep the other for awhile. But I can see a big 4500 around the corner in your future ; ) So keeping the Boss question I will gladly pass to someone else as ive stirred the coals hehe. Your having way to much fun good day Floyd

Is there another larger needle that may help, or I would begin think the bobbin is wound to tight or dragging. I am curious if turning the bobbin over making it normally very free if this would have an effect you need so the knot can be pulled up center. This may explain in short order without turning a screw, but I'm sure to get some flak on this. Floyd
-
I don't doubt what you seen at the business, earlier in the year I seen clones looked to be exactly as the 1342, including the knob on the top so adjusting the step option. I cannot seem to recall a name on it but I sure was surprised at it with the option as mentioned. Also I remember it was listing under 2000US wherever on this net, so if your looking look for the options. Its a small world nowadays, take a look at the shirt label your wearing or the screw driver in your tool boxes. We all have to go on experience and when a new item is out we hunker around and learn what we can and keep working or tweakin. Keep us all posted, and its always great to hear of new business startups. Floyd
