  1. Beautiful work! I love that Cheyenne pattern.
  2. I like your craftsmanship.....I'm especially impressed on how you nailed the gun outline with your stitch line. If you ask me, you're a bit over the top worrying about the finish job. All that concern and the holster is gonna live happily ever after under a shirt or jacket......it looks fine.
  3. A drop of sweat.....what a perfect natural makers mark!! .....only thing that could beat that would be a drop of your blood......I say, leave it!
  4. Thanks for the post! I will have a pair of your triple soled canoe mocs someday soon.....as soon as summer sandel season is over :-)
  5. Nice looking rig....you must hand stitch in your sleep!!
  6. Oh, gotcha.....I did that for a while, and while it may look better, I had a problem with it....looked too fake, and it was...stitching on one layer of leather....that's just me. I'm happy to do it on request however.
  7. I believe this to be a good way to sew keepers.....once the leather is ready it takes about a minute.
  8. Bob advised me to leave the bobbin tension alone...any adjusting should be done up top.....just an fyi....
  9. Here's the same method, just a different picture...
  10. My wife was also surprised (and happy) at how quickly the machine paid for itself.
  11. My wife once told me....." with all the crazy things you've done, I can't believe you can get all excited over a sewing machine"
  12. Hays, that's very nice....and very timely! I'm about to embark on a very similar rig, for a 6", .44 mag......... Couple questions if I may...... Does the shoulder strap adjust? I think my guy wants to wear the piece up closer to the arm pit. Also, is a horizontal strap necessary?....since I don't see it on yours, I take that to mean that's it's not. But if it's to be worn up higher, I'm thinking a strap may come in handy to keep the holster to ones side.
  13. Congrats!! I have the same machine and I love it!
  14. He wants this same thing only in black.
  15. How bout..."decocker, go awayer"
  16. Nice Zippo pouch, I like it lots! I've only made a couple and i think I used too thick a leather for it (8-10oz).....I just got a request for one and I think I'll use 5-6 oz this time, and hopefully I'll get a slimmer profile like yours. Is the slot at the bottom adequate in pushing the Zippo up? Thanks, RG
  17. I echo what Ferg has said....looks very nice now.
  18. What sweat shield?/ Did I say I had a sweat shield?? I don't have a sweat shield........It's a safety lever shield!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it's there...you're gonna have to trust me on this one.. BTW..I tried grabbing it during a draw....several of them...and couldn't......must be a good design eh?
  19. Me neither...so glad I have a machine!
  20. I've done em the old fashion way I guess, space them out with dividers, then stab the holes with my stitching awl....push them through, then crimp them with a screwdriver.....it actually goes pretty fast and I didn't fight with em...it's how I did this rig.. The stitching will get better as you go along.......I believe you need to put more time on the edges......but they look good!!
  21. I realize I may have posted in the wrong forum when I saw the "more girlie stuff" thread... http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=33105 Critiques (critiqii ??) welcomed.
  22. In some circles it's not a gun belt unless you call them a gun belt.........but non gun toters like these as well. Two layers of the finest W&C (unless it's horse) steerhide, glued and stitched, 1/4" total thickness. Here's a horse hide one: This one is 1-3/4" wide....I bought this buckle off someone here on LW a couple years ago, finally found use for it. I find that stitching on a machine takes more concentration than hand stitching....one wayward stitch and it can ruin the entire project. Usually my attention span is only about 5 minutes, but I managed about 20 here... Loving this CB3500 machine!!
  23. A second row of stitching adds a noticeable degree of stiffness to a belt, but I guess he better be a REALLY GOOD BUDDY if you're gonna hand stitch it. These are all between 38-42 belt size and are 1/4" thick. I favor 6 SPI.
  24. Kevin, try hard rolled horsehide, 8oz of that should do em.
