  1. Anyone know of a source where this (or similar) US stamp can be bought?
  2. I've never had that cover off...should I be oiling something in there??
  3. The customer lives an the other side of the state from me, so to get together with the cannon may be a problem.....meanwhile I can't seem to locate one any closer to me, so this project may not happen either. We'll see.
  4. I'm talking with a fella who wants a pancake "just like the one you made for my .44 mag" for his 500......I told him I didn't think he was going to like wearing that gun on a belt for any length of time......I got him thinking a shoulder sling set-up may be the best bet. It would not be for concealed carry of course. We're still in the "design stage"
  5. Fortunately, I know a really cool guy that can do the same for me. :-)
  6. I used to wax my thread just like Uncle Al taught me....but back in his day there was no store bought waxed thread ....check out these folks: http://www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=TTE&Category_Code=waxed-thread
  7. Also, be aware that it's going to take dye differently....do a side by side comparison with the same dye...just so you won't be too surprised when you do a project.
  8. I've been playing around to come up with the "perfect" pocket holster for my 442....I decided this one is it (so far)......I tried the "hooks" and didn't care for them much so thought I could see if I could do without them. This one works out well. I figure the gun doesn't have to fit the holster very tightly......just enough to orient the gun in my pocket like I want, and know where the grip is at when I reach in for it. There's just enough hook at the trigger guard area to aid a bit, but I don't really need it. This one is done in horsehide.
  9. You know, I've been asked for that so much anymore that I'm just making it standard equipment now....you're right, it does look better. A little CB thing that seems to be working well for me.....I usually stitch with the lever right at #4 which equates to 6 stitches per inch. For the keeper I raise is up a smidjun to shorten the stitch to 7-1/2, 8 spi and that seems to work best for me.
  10. I always order 8-10oz Russett skirting from W&C.....to me there is no difference in working with it...I just like the coloring of it so much better than the tooling leather which looks white by comparison. On a lot of projects I leave the skirting alone without any dye and just leave it out to get a sun tan....me likie.
  11. I echo all of the above....nice Sheridan work!
  12. I have one also and like it a lot....on cowhide.....not so good on horsehide.
  13. If you have 2K to spend on a machine, why not get as much machine as you can get for it? My Cowboy....I know, I don't really want to sound like a fan boy, but I guess I am....anyway, my CB3500 takes up roughly 3' x 3' of space in my shop. I thought a Boss was the machine for me too when I went looking for one...then I was introduced to the CB3500 and realized what a wonderful thing electricity is. $1700 out the door....just my take on it.
  14. I've been thinking of trying my hand at making a messenger/man bag out of some chrome....that tan would be nice.......keep me in mind if you decide you want to move some.
  15. I was trying that today and it was working pretty good for me......thanks!! Rg
  16. Talk about a timely post...I was just getting ready to post the same question regarding stitching around "Cape Horn"...I call it that because it can be damn treacherous getting around the tip of belts and making them look good......I pulled it off this morning on these two, but I'm not always so lucky. I was wondering what others do to make an adjustment when you know a stitch or two away that you're not gonna hit your spot.
  17. I would recommend Zack-White...pretty good selection: http://zackwhite.com/xcart/home.php?cat=725
  18. Hey Bullbelts, I stopped by to visit at the last Monroe Gun Show.....you have nice stuff in a cool display!!
  19. Very nice looking work....looks like you're getting along just fine with the Boss!
  20. I don't Not support the skull kulture...I just want to understand it.....
  21. Question about skulls.....why?? I see them everywhere in leather these days. I will admit, I'm usually pretty impressed with the workmanship and carving of them, I just don't get the fascination with them. I'm sure it must be some culture thing, but I don't get it, someone please enlighten me. And don't think I'm knocking it, again, most of the ones I see on leather work are .....well, kinda nice......but when I saw one this morning on what seems to be a ladies purse, I have to beg the question....why??
  22. "nice and damp"???? try getting it WET.......GOOD and wet......dripping wet-noodle wet......and try it again......if you're gonna make it over anywayz, it's worth a try (?)
  23. I wish i knew what you guys were talking about......I have the CB3500 and I THINK those parts you'z guys are referring to are available for it.....but again, I haven't a clue.... It's just me and my edge guide...... (Bob, if you're "listening" give me a call....I believe a lesson session is in order)
  24. I always get quick responses from Bob via email..."Bob" <sewmun@aol.com>,
