  1. If you're in the Winston Salem NC area and can help me out with a very simple project, please contact me through PM. It will requiring punching a couple holes, that's it! Thanks!!
  2. I bought 3 spools of thread from the same place, same manufacturer....same size, same needle (277 and #24) the white and black ran fine...the brown kept dropping stitches. It would be fine for say, 12" of a belt, then drop a stitch, ok again for another foot, then drop a stitch......I change to white and or black, flawless..back to brown, drop stitches....get the picture. I asked the thread people if it could be the thread, they said they would replace the brown, the new spool runs perfectly, knock on computer desk...... I ruined a couple brown belts this way, there's only so much fixing and clean up one can do til it won't pass CQ anymore. I'm wondering if the thread isn't wound right on the spool, it can kink at some point and cause this....I don't know. I just know , new spool, problem has gone away....
  3. Old thread but this problem never goes away......a good buddy of mine who retired from the trades once told me..."you're only as good as how well you fix your .................................................................oopsies"
  4. I can't tell you if they are still alive or not....back when I posted that (a year ago) I was buying from them...then they quit replying to my phone calls and email and orders, so I gave up on them. My guess is that my orders where smaller than they wanted to deal with, but it would have been ok with me if they would have just told me as much.
  5. I couldn't wait to whip one up either...I made it out of thinner horsehide and found the Glock, M&P9, and XD9 (with a little encouragement) also fit.
  6. I picked up the patterns from my local Tandy store today....cool beans is right. Although out of the 7 patterns offered, I think I may only be interested in building 2 or 3 of them.....but as all of WG pattern sets, it's a nice thing to have. He threw in a bikini pattern that's pretty cool too.
  7. Thanks for the info Tex...I'll be making the call to order today.
  8. Nice work, really looks good. School me about the screws, I don't get that.
  9. I was being a bit sarcastic, per usual, but I've had the same results as you sometimes with tans and brown, but never with black.....so I've thought of doing just black too, and avoid the frustration......but now I call it my "antique" look.
  10. Thanks Einar, I used 277, bonded nylon thread with #25 needle on those belts, but lately I've been using 207 with #24, and I'm liking the results/look better. I get my thread from a couple different sources, Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine if what I need is available, and The Thread Exchange. I'm a happy owner of a Cowboy 3500....thanks for asking.
  11. What water marks? I only see character ...want to eliminate? Just do black stuff.
  12. Great minds think alike Steven.....I've used this about a year now and It works great. Comes in very handy in the winter months. The space heater was $12 at Lowes, plastic bin was the wife's....dish tray was too....I still don't think she's missing that yet. Thermostat, what that? When it's dry, it's dry.
  13. No, I re-do on each belt....takes about 10 minutes.....I've never thought about a template.
  14. Here's some I've done
  15. I mostly hear/see it referred to as a "fancy" stitch...here's how I do it....get you one of these thingys, I think it's called a protractor....lay out the stitch lines on a damp belt blank using the sharp end of a modeling tool. I did it on paper to show you...1-1/2" belt......the dotted lines are the main stitch lines....very lightly scribe another about 1/16" parallel to it.....then start scribing the "fancy" stitch line with the protractor. Pictures tell the story.....I hope>
  16. I'm liking the flaps on a possibles bag or ammo pouch.
  17. They are beautiful, but I can't think of what to do with them...any ideas? Show me what you've done with similar furs.
  18. I tried to find if Fiebings had black cherry.....I came up empty everywhere I looked.....closest I've come is mahogany in pro oil....(which is the only thing I'll use.)
  19. Are Bud Lights considered tools???? man...I kinda suck at this.....I used a 936 beveler to make this mess......I thought I would quit while it still looked like an Eagle.
  20. I'll wait for the ruling to come from up in the booth.........
  21. Is that correct.......a hammer would count as one of the two tools?
  22. Tracing the image onto the leather is not considered using a tool, correct?
