  1. I've done dye experiments with turmeric and paprika. They went pretty well. I had to use Alum to mordant the dye and it seemed to work pretty well.
  2. I used 2-3 oz veg tan. You could go a bit heavier and I think it would still turn out great!
  3. Yeah man...I've posted some stuff here with glaring mistakes. The only difference is the members who decided to comment were helpful, nice and awesome. You will find them if you keep posting stuff. Don't let one jack off dissuade you.
  4. Here's a link for you: https://www.osborneleathertools.com/product_details.php?pid=95 -- Joe
  5. If you want american CS Osborne makes one exactly like that. I remember you saying you liked american made stuff.
  6. Post it anyway. The hell with that guy.
  7. I agree its not 100% wood. I get that. But it's a decent compromise. Especially for 3D printing.
  8. I use the black "skife" all the time and it works great. You have to kind of tip it up to its point and pull in a diagonal direction.
  9. Still it looks like wood more than plastic. This is a good point. But instead of dismissing it out of hand like Raven...its like a compromise. Sometimes that's the best you can do.
  10. Its exactly as the OP stated. "Wood filament." You said...."There are 2 things 3D printers can print with, and they are different types of plastic. You cannot get 3d printed wood." That looks like 3D printed wood to me even if it does have plastic in it.
  11. 3D printing with wood filament. Quick google search. Maybe you should do some research before you call someone an idiot.
  12. That is awesome. I think you are a bit self deprecating when it comes to your woodworking abilities!
  13. That is intentional. That way when you fold the wallet over, the outside has room to fold around the inside. This helps the wallet lay nice and flat
  14. It's a small world man!
  15. I wish I still thought and acted like a child. I can't remember the last time I looked at something with unabashed wonder. I see that look on my daughter almost daily. I had no clue how good I had it before I became an "adult."
  16. Hey I'm in West Chester Ohio. Glad to see some locals on here. My father in law grew up in Hamilton and my sister in law works for the city. I have another sister and brother in law that live in Hamilton too! Your seats look GREAT! -Joe
  17. LOL....I see who the decision maker is in your house! J/K...the only reason I mess with you is its exactly the same in mine.
  18. Personally, and this is just my opinion...I think you are crazy to try and dye that sofa. I think it will be very hard to get even results. Also, part of the cool is the vintage look the wear provides. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much color comes back after you condition the leather.
  19. Man that really is a cool table. I'm not sure about the cracking though. If that's just the finish that is cracked and the leather underneath is good you have to figure out how to strip off the top finish and then re-do. If that's the leather that's cracked I think you are stuck with it. All you could do is try to condition the leather and buff it back to a nice lustre but the cracks will remain.
  20. This interests me as well! Anybody got a source? Thanks!
  21. Some pictures would really help.
  22. I don't do a ton of tooling but it seems that everyone who does uses mauls rather than mallets.
  23. OMG YOUR HOUSE IS UPSIDE DOWN! You should probably take care of that before trying to fix the sofa!
  24. I was skeptical at first. But of all the wallets I've made this is the one I use on a daily basis. It sits extremely evenly and is very comfortable! Good luck. Post up a pic when you are done!
  25. How much to make me one? If you are even interested.
