  1. I agree that a low pricing strategy will only force you to turn your business into an assembly line to make any money at all. I do this because I love the process and the craft. Plus if you price something at 12 dollars and its handmade people will think it's cheap. If you price something handmade at 100 dollars people will either think its way too expensive or want to figure out what is special about it. Its those second people you have to convince.
  2. I put it in my pocket until I get home where I then throw it in a collection jar.
  3. That is in the works. Gotta up the skills before I can really wow her ya know?
  4. I think I've spent 500 dollars...this month. My wife is none too happy. She's coming around though.
  5. Even in minimalist wallets I'd want to be able to shove some cash in there. I can't really tell if you could fit some bills in there or not. When I'm making wallets, even minimalist ones, I try to have room for cash to fit if you only fold it once in half. Just my .02 cents. YMMV. Other than that the wallet looks great!
  6. So here's my wallet off your template. I think it came out pretty good! I put his initials on the right front pocket and the initials of his wife and three kids on the left. Did some basic stamping on the outside. Voila! Its the Johnny Cash special...black on black.
  7. I'm almost done with my first wallet using your pattern. I made it for my cousin who I grew up with and is like a real brother to me. I'll post it up in this thread once its finished later on today (hopefully...).
  8. I saw this post first on reddit.com/r/leathercraft and was super happy! I'm glad it made it over here too. Thanks again for the free pattern.
  9. Even the piece I soaked overnight came out like crap.
  10. Man that looks great! I tried making dye with coffee but mine came out a weird brown with grey and green tints. Looked terrible.
  11. This is so true. I tried to make a bifold wallet for my father in law and learned that i bit off more than I could chew. I was too caught up in figuring out how everything was going to go together instead of worrying about technique. I then made a simple card wallet and found it was so much easier to focus on the little details that aren't automatic when you are new to a craft.
  12. I vote #1. Simple. I don't ever want to have to tell people something is quality. I want them to assume its quality.
