  1. Hello, I made this for a good friend of mine from Canada. It is sized to hold a Canadian passport as well as some cards on the other side. I made it out of shrunken goat. Used edge coat and beeswax for the edges. Used Maine Polycord for the stitching. Thanks for looking! Joe
  2. I would just measure it at the widest point. I'm assuming its diamond shaped?
  3. For this holster you could just trim the edges even and then re-finish.
  4. Do you have the option to groove the fold? So it will lay flatter. If you mark where you want the fold and groove to either side leaving a little ridge in the middle it works really well.
  5. Awesome! Yeah I really like it a lot! It has that great smell that you want with leather goods.
  6. I think at least you have a claim against the tannery for the incorrect weight and a claim against the shipper for damaged goods (maybe the tannery as well if the leather was not packed correctly). I agree with the others...give the tannery the chance to make things right. If they are unwilling I would seek legal counsel.
  7. I would say outward with a resolene finish...that's probably how I would do it. Not sure if that's best but....just my .02 cents.
  8. Thank you so much! I love the color as well. I love the idea of laser cut acrylic. It is in my future for sure! Thanks Cheryl!
  9. I second the Weld Wood in the red can. Mine is the gel type stuff and I love it!
  10. I did not like the water based adhesives either. They don't hold as firm and they turn into rubber when dry which makes sanding the edges a real bitch.
  11. Sorry! This is the second time I've done this in two days. Wow I really have no excuse. Your avatar even lists you as female.
  12. I thought someone answered this for you in another thread? He even got out calipers and measured if I remember right.
  13. Self healing cutting mat? http://www.amazon.com/X-Acto-Self-healing-cutting-nonslip-measuring/dp/B0013CKM2A
  14. That's one helluva first project. Great job.
  15. I've never had any problems with dye bleeding when I used aussie.
  16. I'm in Cincinnati and it is really hot today. I doubt it's that hot though!
  17. I'm not a fan of resolene unless I feel like I have to use it. I think the finish it provides is pretty awful feeling. Plus it kills all that wonderful leather smell. However, If you need something as water resistant as possible then resolene is the stuff.
  18. Yeah I guess really all you gotta do is set it out in the sun! LOL.
  19. The guys at my local Tandy who are super helpful and very very good leatherworkers (prob the only reason I still go there) tell me they use a hair dryer to heat up the item and then apply the aussie. They said it penetrates better that way. Having done it both ways I tend to agree with them. But I would say you put it on and walk away for a bit. Then come back and buff it to a nice sheen.
  20. It's Fiebing's Aussie. Yes they sell it at Tandy. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/liquids-n/conditioners-n/2199-00.aspx They call it a conditioner but I use it as a finish.
