  1. Great stuff, I love the first seat and lacing is my preferred choice for seats most times. Second seat is great too I just can't stand that band, lol. Tom
  2. Cool look to it, rugged and will only look nicer with the years as it catches on real patina. Would be really cool as a belt. Tom
  3. Good looking birdie Storm!!! Variety is good for the carving skills and to attract all sorts of customers too. Tom
  4. Really a sweet looking holster style sheath. The desert tan looks nice too. The cutting line on the left is not totally straight but not really too disturbing either but if you aim for perfection that's one point to fix. Then again my girlfriend tells me that she likes it with details that let the ordinary people know that it is handicraft and not machine made leather. Tom
  5. Oh sorry!! Yes I meant that I lace them together instead of using snaps. Tom
  6. Very tasty and elegant!!! It has KK written all over it!!! Tom
  7. That belt is sweet looking!! Love the metal parts that blends in well with the textured cowhide/buffalo. Haven't seen this type of leather here in Sweden so I envy you guys that can have it (buffalo or fake). Tom
  8. Hi and welcome to the board Scoutmaster!!!! There sure is a wealth of information to read and look through here but best of all is the generosity when it comes to sharing secrets of the trade. People are very openhearted and helpful so you'll find what you need here. Studying discussions in the threads can be very rewarding since the poster of something that catches on to peoples eyes often get questions and explain how things were done. Tom
  9. That is a good looking wall hanger!!! I agree with MadMax, the hummingbird looks great and I'd love a closer view on it. Tom
  10. Outstanding job on the cellphone holder, love it. Cell phone holders is not very common in Sweden so I never get to do one. Cool belt and spurstrap only thing that comes to mind is since they're themed together maybe the spurstrap also should have had a matching border. Tom
  11. Lovely skull Storm, you know how to make me happy;-) I'd go with all black or natural. The design stands out well and would like good in black if you put some effort and use leather balm or similar and really buff it to a nice shine..oh yeah..I'd love that. Tom
  12. It doesn't take much material or time to experiment with a few on your own wrist and once you get your measurement confirmed you can use that to develop patterns for other wrist sizes from. You can also install double snaps but I prefer to make a single snap (wich I never do nowadays) because two makes it feel to bulky on the wrist. I really prefer to string my bracers when they get a little bigger and also with that method you don't have to worry too much about them not matching specific customers arm. To me stringed also looks better and I use eyelets for the stringing holes. Tom
  13. Yeah, I been nagging alot about bordering and think most times it is needed but there are allways that exception that confirms the rule as well and not to forget everyone has their personal pref wich is fine by me. I picked up my way of thinking image/tooling/designing from a photographers point of view. The skull crew is a little inofficial bunch of members and whenever you post your first skull it seems like there is allways someone welcoming you to the "gang". Hmmm.. maybe we should have a subforum for skullfreaks;-) Tom
  14. Hey Storm!! Good to see you back bud!!! Cool and busy carving but I like it. I think you'll nail it with the paints and antiquing!! Tom
  15. Very cool wallet VonFuct!!! I especially like that it is a borderless design, the stitching is enough to keep the composition together . Very nice work!! Tom
  16. Heey bud!! I'm impressed with the accuracy on the straight lines especially the longer border lines. Easy to fail on those since they are so near the edge. Overall look seems nice too with rounded ends and all. Good job!!! Tom
  17. Yeah there are some good metal bands around here that I like. Never make it to festivals though. Tom
  18. Hi and welcome!! Viking hails from Sweden;-! Sure is the right place to come to for learning. We love pics and it is a good aid when you ask for specific help. Tom
  19. Great looking bracers!!! The borders are neat and I like the shape on the bottom edge. Tom
  20. Great and lovely hat Frog!! The tooling and painting is excelent! Tom
  21. Love this hat Tom!! I saw Froghunter and the others too and they all look great but I really like the "sinister" and "ominous" look on this one. Nice job Tom
  22. This is so sweet you actually got me crawling out of my coffin today;-) Love the shadowing you have swiveled on the chin. Never seen it done like that before. A really good looking seat, I don't know why I like skulls. It's like what Johanna said they are everywhere nowadays so shouldn't be considered obscure anymore and with that loose my interest but I still just love a good looking skull and this one is awesome. Tom
  23. I agree with MadMax. A better pic would be great because it looks very interesting. The most positive comment I can think of now is that the frame is probably shaming this piece. Tom

The post where Shirley describes this braid assumes that you allready know how to make the mexican roundbraid so if you don't know that it won't be much of help to you. This is where I learned the mexican roundbraid: http://www.btinternet.com/~kingsmerecrafts/page100.html Every time the lacin needle comes out from a hole you just skip the going under lace part and take the needle directly into next hole. The start is the hardest part and corners is something I still struggle a bit with. Rounded corners looks best ans is easier to do. Tom

Hey Sis!! That is outstanding and great looking tube. You know I love tubes!!! I can't take credit for the braid, it was ShirleyZ who described this simplified mexican roundbraid in a post and I started to use it because to gives just a good cover as the real roundbraid and I wanted some variation from it (the handles for my fishingrod tubes). That type of mauls scares me. They look beautiful but uncomfortable to me. Why is the head rounded, anyone?? I like a thin handle so I can swing it easily between my index finger and thumb. Good to hear you're wrapping things up and coming home, it's been oh so lonely here;-) Love your container!!! Tom
