  1. While trying to find a foundry that would cast a single part for the Singer treadle base I’m restoring, I happened to call Clarksville Foundry in Clarksville, Tennessee. They've been in business since 1847 and are one of the oldest foundries in America. They do some pretty sophisticated and technical castings, you can checkout on their website here........ http://clarksvillefoundry.com/ So I said to the pleasant lady at the foundry who answered the telephone, (turns out she's been with the company 28 years), “I’m a private party and would like to speak to someone about having a small, single part cast.” I figured no sense wasting my time or theirs if they wouldn't do a single part. Well immediately the owner of the company, Mr. Charlie Foust, comes on the phone. I was stunned the owner of the company would take the time to talk to me. The 6-7 other foundries that I had contacted couldn’t or wouldn’t do that small of a job or just didn’t respond. Considering the age we live in with automatic phone systems and answering machines, that told me a lot about the company. Long story short, the project went smoothly and fast, and the part fit perfectly.......I’m extremely pleased. If you need a single part cast or a number of parts cast, you might want to give them a call. The company sign The part
  2. Fascinating sewing system. Truly admire and respect the intelligence and engineering that went into these old sewing machines........perhaps an example of man at his best.
  3. GPaudler, If Juki copied Singer's parts, then Juki did do 15/64-28, because 15/64-28 was used regularly on Singer machines. I suspect Singer wanted to keep other manufacturers parts off of their machines for a number of obvious reasons. The thumb nut in Uwe's picture is definitely 15/64-28. I know because I had to make one for the K53 in the picture above and had to purchase that special 15/64-28 Singer tap to do it.
  4. Uwe, your part looks similar to the one on my Singer 45K53. The dogleg part itself is 91436, Feed Shaft Lever, and the thumb nut is NN52. I believe other Singer 45K's use a similar looking dogleg part. Is your part above Simanco? Do you know what the thread size/pitch is on the thumb nut on yours?
  5. The seller also has the wax pot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wax-pot-for-British-united-Harness-6HM-/272775402434?hash=item3f82ae53c2:g:M7cAAOSwB9JZdh1J
  6. Perhaps there's something useful in this: http://dixiesewingmachine.tzo.com/MANUALS/SINGERPARTS/7-1 - 7-55.pdf
  7. My hats off and a big thank you to LW member, Jimi, for jumping in and helping a member in need. Those of you who have followed this topic know the treadle I'm restoring is missing the support piece shown in the second photo above. I looked online and on most every eBay site I could find around the world for weeks with no results. I could have jury rigged something, but it didn't seem fair to the restoration of this honorable old piece. Well Jimi was kind enough to take the support off of his treadle, make a mold from it, make a casting from the mold, securely package them and send the mold and casting to me, so I could have the support cast in metal. After all of that time and effort, Jimi only wanted the cost of the shipping. He said the materials are a gift. So I want to acknowledge Jimi's kindness and consideration and post a couple of pictures of his mold and casting......his first attempt by the way. Thank you Jimi. Thank you very much.
  8. That's fine Yetibelle, thank you. If you have any 45K feed dogs, needle plates, presser feet or guides that you're wanting to move, I would like to see what part numbers you have. I'm trying to collect complete sets of the various function groups (dog-foot-plate...guide) if it's practical. If you want to switch to a PM that's okay.
  9. Yetibelle, If you plan to let one of your Singer deck-plates go, I would like to have it. Thanks very much.
  10. That should be helpful. I'd sure like to have one of those machines.
  11. Uwe, Is there a way for a computer guru to "scan" the "List of Parts Complete" in the parts list Wendlynne linked above and put them in numerical order?
  12. Constabulary, they sure look good to me. Impressive results from "scrap parts". To bad that controller company doesn't ship to the US, looks like a good item.
  13. Here's one with wheels that works with a bench stool standing or sitting.
  14. Hi Jimi, Not sure what that screw does. You may be able to see in the picture the screw going through the wheel and arm is "peened" over, maybe someone put that small screw there to secure the longer screw. There are no numbers anywhere on the roller foot. My Singer roller foot has numbers most everywhere. No numbers anywhere on the oil box in the picture above. Best regards

  16. Funny!! Some around here might add "sewing machine". Check out that guys Scariac Controller YouTube....that's a show stopper......insane.
  17. Yetibelle, That's what I call a slick idea. For sure I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Constabulary, that's not a stupid idea, but for sure a lot of work to ask of a person. Thanks for thinking about my problem.
  19. Thanks Jimi. If it weren't for knowledgeable and generous people like you and others on LW, there's no way I would attempt such unfamiliar projects. Good idea, I will have the local welder look at those excellent pictures you took of your part, he may be able to do something. Thanks and regards
