  1. Shorts Nice job on your holster. Keep up the good work. Randy
  2. Dick, These guys covered hand stitching better then I could. I machine stitch everything I build. Best wishes on building holsters! Randy
  3. Shorts Welcome to the forum. Keep us informed of your progress and remember, post them photos. Regards, Randy
  4. Greg Nice job on your holster and welcome to the forum. I've been using Fieblings Tan kote on the holsters that I want to leave natural. I apply it with a swab. It only darkens the leather slightly. I've attached a couple of my holsters that have been treated with Tan Kote. Randy
  5. Drof Nice job on your holster. My first holster sure didn't look that good. As far as patterns, Mike (Twinoaks) about covered it. I would like to add the following: After I trace the pistol outline onto the file folder, I carefully cut out the outline of the pistol. If you centered the pistol sights on the folder's crease and carefully layed the pistol on it's side, traced around the pistol, then cut out the tracing, your cut out pistol pattern should automatically compensate for the thickness of the pistol. I can then use the cut out pistol pattern on as many new file folders as needed to achieve the holster design I need. Randy
  6. Hey Guys After posting the method I use to build holsters,I found that it is only necessary to outline around the weapon on one side. Once the pattern is cut out, the patttern is the same on both sides anyway. Randy

  8. Srigs, Thanks for the critique. That holster as well as the next 3 holsters are being built for hammerless J Frames. Randy
  9. Temp, Thanks for your kind words. The customer is happy with his holster. Now back to the bench to build 3 more. Randy
  10. Temp, You are improving. I'm not sure of the design, but it's your own design and it's unique. Your stitching looks good and I see it as an improvment over your previous rivited holster. Your method of placing your thumb over the hammer when drawing is the way I myself draw from the pocket with an exposed hammer pistol. I would suggest that you extend the side of your holster to cover the cylinder and front of the holster so the hammer if covered while the weapon is in your pocket. That may save you from tearing up your pockets. All in all, good job. Randy
  11. Crystal Welcome to the forum. It's a great place to hang out. Randy
  12. Scouter Very nice cell phone case. You should get lots of compliments on that one. Randy
  13. I built this S&W J Frame Pocket Holster for a customer. The holsters built rough side out from 6-7 Oz. vegatable tanned cowhide. I dipped dyed the holster prior to contruction using Fieblings USMC Black. I lightly wet formed the holster using my holster press. Randy
  14. Hey Guys Cool Topic! Check this site out. www.wolfgangsvault.com The late concert promoter and owner of the Fillmore east and west Bill Graham's web site. Lots of origional concert posters, ticket stubs, t-shirts ect. Click on the Concert Vault. Theres a bunch of classic rock concerts from the 60's through the 80's. You can listen to the whole concert for free or pay for the concert if you want to download it. Randy
  15. Lou uses a convection type oven to dry his holsters. The convection ovens allow him to maintain low heat. Randy

The Few, The Proud, The Leatherworkers! This old marine sure likes your work. Nice Job Randy
  17. Jim Nice job on the sheath. I really like the design work. Randy
  18. I think all in all you built yourself a nice holster. It's well fitted to the pistol and you did a great job on the tunnel loop design and stitching. Leatherworking is a constant learning experience. I thought about using the microwave once, glad I didn't! Randy
  19. Marlon and Johanna Thanks for the sharpening instructions. I really needed them. Randy
  20. Buff Great looking holster. I wish you were my dad! Randy
  21. Luke, My popularity with the ladies has been on the upswing since I started pocket carry. Opps, sorry Johanna I digressed. Breeza, I build my pocket holsters, rough side out. The hook at the bottom of the holster also helps leave the holster in the pocket while the pistol is drawn. Mortorman, I will have my will rewritten so my Kahr and holster go to you in the event of my demise. The bad thing about buying new guns is having to build new holsters. Ya can't be a holster maker and wear store bought holsters can ya now? I need to start building my customers holsters before I get too far behind. Semper FI
  22. Andy Very cool idea. I once posted a photo of a harmonica case on this forum. Mine only held harmonicas. Randy
  23. Sorry Guys My other photos didn't upload. I'm trying it again.
  24. Since my primary mode for backup/offduty carry is in pocket, I made this holster for my Kahr PM45. Like my past pocket holsters, I built this one of 6/7 oz. vegatable tan, rough side out, and finished in Fieblings tan-kote. I lightly pressed this one with my holster press. I say lightly because I molded around the actual pistol and I don't believe Kahr's warrantly would cover a crushed frame. Also, a real tight mold job makes it harder to seperate the pistol from the holster during draw.
