  2. Hey Guys, I'm just checking in. In the spring , I discovered the fun and addiction of USPSA shooting and haven't had much time to build many holsters. I'm working on a few new designs right now. I see we have some new up and coming holster makers on the forum. Welcome Randy
  3. Bruce, Nice looking holster. I too have problems with Fieblings light brown dye. My light brown turns out maroon and I've had the same problems with blotching. I guess I need to try deglazing a little better. Do you use the dye full strength and if not, what do you cut it with? Randy
  4. A friend of mine would like to build a leather canoe. He asked me what he could use to waterproof the leather. I've been doing leather work for several years and couldn't answer his question. Any ideas? Randy

  7. Drac Great job on those holsters. 99 years ago when I joined the police department the open trigger guard revolver holster was the standard issue uniform holster for many police departments. Legendary US Border Patrolman Bill Jordan, was instrumental in the design of this holster which was known as the Jordan River Holster. I'm sure the name of this holster had nothing to do with the river in the middle east, but to Mr. Jordan's exploits along the Rio Grande River. I carried my S&W model 28 in one of those holsters into the late 1980's when I started carrying an autoloading pistol. Mr. Jordan also authored a book on modern gunfighting titled "NO SECOND PLACE WINNER." Enough of a holster history lesson huh! Randy
  8. I have have always been taught to stitch then mold my holsters. I'm now thinking of molding then stitching a holster to see how it goes. I think with the proper pressure foot, I should be able to pull it off. I'd like to hear the opinions of my fellow holster makers. I stitch with 277 weight thread through my Artisan Toro 3000. Randy
  9. Rhome Nice job on your holsters. I'm sure you will be glad to be stateside again and building holsters. Randy
  10. Kamac, As they say "necessity is the mother of invention." You needed a holster and with limited materials, you built yourself a functional holster. It looks good to me. This forum is a great place for new holster makers to be. I've learned alot since I been here. Welcome to the forum. Now get busy, build more holsters and don't forget to post photos of your progress. Randy
