  1. I recently got my new "Hellcat" tattoo and I'm thinking about turning it into my "Hellcat Leathers" logo. What do ya'll think compared to the current one? I would appreciate any advice. All color or just black? Thanks.
  2. A custom collar for a client....they put a deposit down and have disappeared off the face of the earth. Looks like one of my 4 dogs have a new collar!
  3. WTF?!!!! Really? Growing leather in a LAB? Thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss.....read the article and discuss! http://www.onegreenplanet.org/news/lab-grown-leather-coming-to-a-mall-near-you/
  4. I've seen latigo in different weights and it's been awhile since I've made a dog collar. What would you say is the average weight used for a dog collar in general?
  5. Just finished my first attempt at a molded iPhone case......I really hate hand-stitching. I bought a small food vacuum and used that to mold the case. Great and inexpensive tool!
  6. I looked at their website. They have TONS of colors available! The most I have ever seen. I sent John an email. Would love to try some of those buckles!
  7. I'm in Atlanta in-town right near I-20. I'd love to get together to meet. The only place I ever got to chat with other leatherworkers around here is at the Tandy shop in Tucker and I quit going there years ago.
  8. LOVE THAT TRUCK!!!!! Great job!
  9. Recently purchased my first maker's stamp from Philips Engraving http://www.phillipse...her_Stamps.html Here it is in all its glory!
  10. Yeah, I agree.....is anyone there this weekend? If so, please post some pics and let us know what's going on! One day I'll plan ahead and go.
  11. Welcome, Trey! I was born and raised in Baton Rouge! I moved to Atlanta back in 2001 and have been here since. Man, I miss the food and the people there! I go home to visit usually every year at Mardi Gras. Nice to know a fellow leatherworker with the same roots. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
  12. Nope, not the Eco-Flo.....the plain old Tandy stuff....years before Eco-Flo even came out. This stuff.... I went to their website and it looks like everything has been replaced with the Eco-Flo.....even the Cova Colors are Eco-Flo now. Guess it's time to move to Fiebings. I wonder if they have anything similar. Hmmmmm.....time to shop.
  13. http://socialcam.com/s/A7A83KB3 Took a short video showing a wallet I just completed. Black pigskin liner and everything else is thin veg-tan and dyed with Mahogany All-In-One. I love the All-In-One stains and finishes....they don't make those anymore, do they?
  14. Amazing work.....it's really mind-boggling. How many hours did that take you to complete? And may I ask what you would charge for such a wonderful piece? I might have a client to refer to you for an armor job....I just need to know what kind of price range your items are before I send him your way....you might be out of his league. Thanks!
  15. Here's the other pic.....I cut some slivers of deer antler from a deer my brother got last winter and then used my Dremel to put some button holes in them. I need to sand them down a little more, but I liked using them. So I cut some more.....
  16. Made 4 deerskin medicine bags today....first time I've ever tried them. Not bad....took an hour on the first one and now can make one in 25 minutes. Think I'm going to sell some for Earth Day arts and crafts fair coming up. I'll post some pics of the other 3 tomorrow.
  17. Cova colors? Acrylic dye? What should I use for coloring my carvings? I've only used dyes and stains and not painted anything.

I suppose it would depend on the

look you want. Dyes tend to be

      translucent and cova and acrylic

      paint tend to be opaque.

  18. I've never ordered from them and their hides look gorgeous; however, I can't afford those prices....at least not yet. Back to plain old veg-tanned tooling sides for me!
  19. If you use Tandy's ECO line of dyes/stains, you MUST use the ECO Gum Trag, not the regular Gum Trag. It will remove the dye/stain. Note: You can do that to get some cool "weathered" effects....I found that out the hard way.
  20. Your door panel is looking good....I have a particular fondness for "Jinx" cats.....Actually, my next tat is a black cat. I really love those old school Halloween decorations with the Jinx cat. Back when Halloween still had decorations with snarling cats, grimacing pumpkins and green-face witches with warts on their nose. (sigh)
  21. trying to decide on a workbench for my leather studio

Me too! Might might be getting built in exchance for a rifle sling

I am looking at the same thing. The oak woodworking table at Harbor Freight is looking very tempting at $150.

  22. Nice work...on the back cover with the pentagram....the background color goes from darker brown to lighter brown....did you do that by hand or with an airbrush? I'm looking for tips on how to fade a color from dark to light. Thanks!
