New Biker Wallets.
Windrider30 replied to VanDutch's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I like that shape very interesting idea on that! -
Buy one...lol all joking a side a few problems that I ran into which might help you avoid. First even with the leather wet it was a bitch to stitch the nose closed all the way because of tight spaces, so put everything together (leaving one side of the bottom for last) do a saddle stitch from the nose upward but do not pull tight until you can get the needles in and out a little easier then pull HARD to get the nose closed. Also the sunglass lens I used were a little big so what I had to do is encase them in two leather circles then stitch them together, I would make the eye circles a little bigger next time so you can do a double thread mark on them. What I did since it was a little close was used a bit of glue and then just stitched the side pieces to the eye lens, that should keep the lens (cheap plastic by the way) in place. Also the top piece (the mask is actually four pieces, two sides, one top and one bottom piece) and the side pieces are but joined together that was the first time I have ever sewn something like that so you might look into how to do that (I did a kind of saddle stitch, cross stitch and it should hold).

Construction Order For Outside Pocket W/ Gusset?
Windrider30 replied to Jimdad's topic in How Do I Do That?
That is easy to do actually. You cut out both the pocket and the gusset. As well as the front piece and the front pocket. Make both pockets, glue pocket to gusset and to front. Then stitch pockets to the pieces THEN you put everything together this way you are not sewing in the dark -
This was a real bitch to hand stitch to be pefectly honest, getting the last side (bottom) was a nightmare to start it and all the way to finish it, started at the end of the mask and worked upward was still a pain in the ass to hand stitch this one, but I really enjoyed the challange of this one.

Lousy Weather Kept Me In Doors So This Is What I Have Been Up To
Windrider30 replied to Windrider30's topic in Art
Ahh finally finished product, would have been done sooner (should take about 4 hours to make another one from cutting to dying and putting together) but I got a bit of food poisoning that dropped me like a rock!! But here is the finally product has a head strap or optional neck strap..though might need to make that neck strap a bit longer even though both head and neck straps are adjustable. -
Ok so weather was rainny and crappy here so I got bored dug around in my pattern folder on the pc and found this steampunk leather resperator thing so went with a little bit of a wood textrure look, just waiting for the dye job to dry then will put the hardware on and it will be done. Quick and easy little project fun to stitch together.

Leather Backpack
Windrider30 posted a topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
First leather backpack that I have ever done, came out pretty good, straps ugg I hate cutting straps but shoulder staps are ajustable as each has six holes to run though. Draw string is made from kangaroo lace to draw the backpack closed with a closure flap over top body is made from 6 to 7 oz leather, side gusset is 4 oz leather (first side was a pain in the ass to put on second side went like a dream!) took about 2 days from cut to finish. All parts are buffed with aussie conditioner. Thinking of trying to sell this, and a few others for around 250 to 300 dollars. Not totally sure on price just yet. -
What Is The Point Of A Head/round Knife?
Windrider30 replied to Windrider30's topic in How Do I Do That?
Yep Cheryl I did get the info I was looking for, learned about a few things and even learned about a new knife (the Japenese leather knife) that I had not even thought of or heard of, there is a bit of a pissing contest on what is the " better" knife which I did not ask but it is good to know what the whole point behind the head knife is other then to scare the ever liveing crap out of people lol. -

What Is The Point Of A Head/round Knife?
Windrider30 replied to Windrider30's topic in How Do I Do That?
Hmm a lot of information has been given and I thank each person for it, the main question really was what was the purpose of the head knife, to me they scare the shit out of me with that large of a cutting surface, I do not know if I will ever own one, but I do like to know the point behind some of the tools that seem to be " common" even if I do not use them myself. Personally I like the stanly knives as well as the rotery cutter blade. Each blade has it's uses at times, but I have never really seen anyone (other then youtube) use one and was interested in the whole point of such a large blade. As one person did point out the safety factor is actually an interesting one considering you are pushing the blade away from you rather then pulling in towards you...Next question is how often does the blade go dull to the point you need to sharpen it (I can't sharpen a penicil have the time so the Stanely blades make it so I do not have to worry about it)? -
I like it very cool idea!
