  1. Thanks monica i am hoping to add two turk knots to either end to cover up the connectors
  2. Thanks Grey and most welcome Leder I think that amount of lace will really depend on how wide your lace is.
  3. The bracelet in the photo is 5 and half inches long (just the lace) about 3/4 inch wide that took me nearly 12 feet of lace oaracoed would be cheaper lol the lace it self is about half a centemeter wide
  4. Not finished and this is the very first conquistador braid that I have ever done, wanted to try it...took nearly 12 feet of one piece of leather lace to do this bracelet...and it was still a tad short!!! I am thinking of adding a turks knot to cover both ends up...but first I have to learn how to do a turk's head knot wish me luck!!
  5. Evil milk jugs deserve to go boom and yes may be lighter then a rifle but man that thing would have a bit of a kick to it! Great work all the way around =)
  6. First great work second what in hell pissed you off or scared you as a kid for you to want to carry said hand cannon lol not to mention those shells look to be Teflon coated tips zombie bears beware!!!!!
  7. love those great idea for the on hair hides!!!
  8. Impressive I am sortof thinking of trying my hand at whip making just not overly sure what equipment I would need as well as how much hide I would need!
  9. have yet to try the canvas or denim trick when burnishing normaly use wood slicker that I have, will have to give that ago thanks grmnsplx
  10. Tugadude I did not like the way the edges of the pockets looked so wrapped the roo around them as well, still have plenty of room for cards to slide in. Grmspx thanks for the vid and ugg was hoping there was a way to stop it from wrinkling its not to bad on in the middle where it is wrinkled will give that a try about with the leather being folded next time just to see.
  11. Ok did this project as something to try took a 4 oz leather square and covered it on one side with roo hide, the other side with pig skin. Card slots are 3 oz veg tan leather same as the clasp. Now my question well two is A: How do you get it so the pigskin does not wrinkle when you fold what ever project in half as I did. I pushed all the air out with the mallet and my hand after glueing it flat and tight to the piece of leather. And yet it still wrinkles. Second question is there a better way to do the corners when you are doing a rolled edge as I did here so that there is no real gap, as there are a couple of tiny gaps even though the roo skin is pulled hard and tight. Oh the other reason I did this project well two reason, one never did something like this (the wraping part) and second reason was I figured if I started at 6 am with the pricking iron and mallet (as it is all hand sewn) it would drive the in laws out of my house...saddly it did not, but it was fun to listen to the whining and complaining!!!
  12. Colt thanks for the advice on the trimming. Will give that a go next t8me around
  13. I perfer the dye the way it is, was a pattern that I was going for, actually took 6 coats to get it to look that way which is a pain in the ass, and yeah the magnets were not the best idea, but it was an experement. It actually holds up pretty good with weight in it but they are a bit of a pain to make sure everything is set, not to mention you can not over load this bag, and lets face it people will over load a bag, next one I am using straps and buckles for!
  14. That looks pretty cool never made a quiver and dont think I will, how hard was it to plug the bottom? As for what could be done with the pocket only thing I can say is that the tongue needs to be just a little longer, or you might be able to cheat it a little and put a sam brown button on it as well as the cross over strap to hold it in place.
  15. Full side of the bag finally edge dyed a medium brown same with inside. Not really that fond of the magentic closures that I used as they can be a little fiddley but it does hold a bit of weight, the back pocket is perfect for a 15 inch lap top just do not put any eletronic devices in the front pocket due to the three magnets that are the closure of the bag. More pics to come tommorow.
  16. Ok so this is an experemental bag for me. I will have more pictures of it just a little later as I am still sanding and slicking sides and redying some of it. But it has three magnetic closures, the two side ovals are covers for the snap magnets (one one each side on the upper part) and the middle oval is a disk magnet. I decided to try and use the magnets as I have never done a bag with this time of closure. And this bag actually has four gusets instead of the typical 2. It has two pockets, one on the back and one on the front inside of the bag, with a middle divider. It has ALL been hand sewn together. Will share more photos as I finish this bag. I had to use the ovals as covers for the disk magnet as well as the snap magnet.
  17. As for tandy classes check this out http://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/default.aspx? This is from tandy and a lot of great videos of how to's worth the price.
  18. You need to get over the fear of ruining good leather even people with 20+ years of experience will ruin good leather once in a while (though they will never admit to that lol) tandy delivers by the way as I get most of my stuff from them here in Australia the nearest store to me us about a 4 hour trip. Never had any problems with tandy or the leather that they select for me. 19. Thanks guys for the advice. And the internal pockets are going to be sewn to the front and back side of the front piece and back piece leaving the divider alone.
  20. Ok so going to make a briefcase with two gussets that way the brief case will have a middle divider, the inside will also have a pocket on the back and front inside of the bag to give it more ways to seperate things. The quesion I have is on the middle divider do I want to use the same thickness that I use for the outter leather (6 to 7 oz) or do I want to use the same thickness as the inside pockets (4 oz leather)? Which would be better and which would add a bit more stability to the bag in question? Bag is goign to be 15" across 9" high have not figured out how wide I want it just yet thinking around 6 maybe 7 inches.
