Corsets are not as hard as you may think you can "cheat it" a little and use a 5 to 6 oz leather that way you do not have to mess with the boning. This was the very first corset that I have ever done...hmm might have to start an album here to show off the corsets that I have done.

Internal plans for the bag (so far lol) Two 8 oz leather dividers, foam (will find out what kind when I go to Clark Rubber) that is no more than 1/8th of an inch (any bigger and I have to widen out the bottom a bit more) Will glue the foam to the two dividers, then will glue some roo hide to the foam and wrap it along the top and glue to the other side. Back, front and sides will be padded, glued and covered in roo hide. To give it a nice look, I am THINKING about padding the bottom as well.Orginally the base was going to be 8 inches, but I think with the thickness of the padding and the leather I am going to have to go 9 inches so that everything will slide in and out with ease and not be packed in really tight, haven't fully made up my mind yet, will know when I do the card board mockup. This is still going to be a three gusset bag. height of the bag will be from 12 and half to 14 inches tall, again will know more once I get the card board mock up done.

Yep I had originallythought of the 5 to 6 oz but with the gear (expensive at that) that is going to be carried around in it and the type of people that will use such a bag the extra thickness will not only add that much more protection but durability as well. And yeah I think when its done this bag will weight in atound 3 or 4 pounds when empty. Thanks for the idea on the foam

Me personally I use a 7 spi for most of my projects (unless I am lazy) though thinking of getting a smaller set but as for using a pricking iron and awl I do not believe that is really needed, not to mention ever stuff an awl under your thumb nail..right past the nail? I have twice...wont use an awl ever again!!!

I am looking for something no more than an 1/8th of an inch and avoiding neoprene do to its price (trying to keep the price dwon a little) and yes using 8 to 9 oz will make it a little thicker but I still want a little extra padding for security of mind kind of thing.

The cup was a large and i am pretty sure it will easy fit an even bigger cup. I like this as it makes the cup sit in my hand better

Ok a couple of quick "action shots" this works pretty good though going to have to get some sliding locks will make it SOO much easier and faster to put this on!! Just used a bit of roo lace scrap that I had to lace it onto the cup, just slide the cup into the holder and pulled tight and laced it go ta few nice compliments on it. But the best part...my hand was not cooked holding this as I walked home! Saddly the hot chocolate did not last all the way home, some fat bastard drank it all!!

I am going to use 8 to 9 oz leather for the shoulder strap so I do not think it will need any extra strength but hmm the nylon webbing is a good idea!

The ad I saw on Instagram (yep I follow tandy leather lol they do have some interesting pics from time to time) was 100 bucks (us of course) for a full hide of upholstery leather

The only real issue I have with the Tandy store here is that what they show on the web they some times either run out or do not have, I mean in this day and age tandy should be able to run the store's inventory though the website to show what they actually have! It gets damned annoying and has put me in a bind a time or two with a project for a client I have worked on

over time the strap will be needed as the leather settles into its new life, agreed with @Stetson912 seems a little chunky but as I have never made a stealth take it with a grain of salt lol.

One I live in Australia no trader Joes here lol. But I honestly do not see this bag as something that will be carried around constantly I am seeing its use as a multimedia carry bag for lan parties and what not. The main weight will be the lap top (it does out weight the ps4 or an xbox) which is why I am setting the lap top slot in the middle of the bag, a gaming lap top is still going to be thinner than either an xbox or ps4 so the middle slot will be where the heaviest part is going to be. I am also planning on having a wide strap that will be have a sliding shoulder pad that will be padded to help ease the strain a little. And this is going to be a heavy duty case/bag as all of it will be maid from 8 to 9 oz leather Intersting idea but I think I will stick with one bag mostly for the security issues and makes it a little easier for padding.

I must be lucky then out of the 2 or so years that I have been doing leather work most of my hides..minus the roo hide..I have gotten from tandy and have only had one lousy hide from them. But than again there is only one tandy store here in sydney hell might be the ONLY one in Australia. Now I know the owner said in the past they use to really pass off some shit leather to him but the quality that I have seen is damn good and i have literally spent thousands of dollars with Tandy since I started.

The strapping system I am thinking about would end up in two triangles all three pieces hooked to large O ring then having the shoulder strap hooking to the two O rings. Now running straps underneath the bag is a good idea as well, I am thinking of running the center flap strap from the front under the bottom then bring it up all the way along the back (stitching the whole thing in place) so that its just one long strap with a buckle on one end and the holes on the other. Now I do want to make it so that the shoulder strap can come off, as some people don't like using a shoulder strap that is why I was thinking of hooking the D rings on each of the sides and using these: https://www.tandyleather.com.au/en/product/round-trigger-snaps-nickel-plated to hook to the D rings, but hmm had not thought of running straps under the back length wise either it would make it a lot more secure..I think I am going to have to get 4 large feet for this bag if I do the strap idea so that it will sit above the strapping. Oh and a sketch would be nice to see if I have the same idea in my head as you are talking about. The more that I think about it the cradle idea would help support the weight (as it will be pretty damn heavy fully loaded with an alienware 17 gaming lap top, ps4 and all the a sorted cables, controllers and what not) instead of just a few small bits of leather attached to the gussets with the d-rings looped in. Thanks for that idea I think I am going to get that a go, Might even add two bottoms to cover the straps, hmm not sure about that idea, might have to see how that looks on my mock up.

Thanks just saw a deal off of tandy for a full hide of upholstery leather and have seen a few other tanners saying that it could be used for such things never tried it may give it a go.

Ok running into another interesting "issue' with this design. So far this is going to be a 6 gusset (3 on each side) case. Now this case is going to have a bit of weight to it so not only will it have a handle (heavlly reinforced) but I want a shoulder strap/cross body strap as well. Now with this being a 6 gusset case I want the weight to be distributed as evenly as possible, but lets face it with a gaming lap top, a ps4 or xbox one (making it wide enough..i think to be able to use one or the toher) and all the cords, plus a few games, wallet, phone, cards and what ever else the person wants to stuff in the third pocket, as well as the two exterinal pockets that I am going to be adding, this is going to hold a fair bit of weight. Case is going to be roughly 8 inches depth wide so my thinking is that just hooking the shoulder strap to just one d-ring will not be enough. So could I actually use 6 d-rings, run straps (with releases on each end of each straps) to lets say an O-ring and then hook the shoulder strap to the two O-rings do you think this would help handle the weight a bit better?

Ok word of warning on baking soda, first what you do is you dip your leather into the baking soda for ONLY a few seconds no more than ten, this is to actually stop the vinegarroon from going darker, second any longer and you risk actually burning the leather which will crack it like mad and make it useless, the easiest way I have found is to put the piece some where the air can get to it (preferably outside) for about a week, yeah my last piece took nearly a week before the smell vanished. Edited: Meant to say dip the leather in the baking soda for only a few seconds, the longer you leave the leather in vinegarroon the darker it gets. But you really do not want to leave the leather in the baking soda and water mix for more than a few seconds.

Ok I see a few places saying that upholstery leather is good for bags anf garments. Is this true or is there better leather for garmets and bags?

Yeah i am aware of the not bending well part of the 8 oz thanks for the corrugated cardboard going to give that a try and see. As for v gouging the flap I really want to avoid that if i can. Now just have to see about the gussets so far I am thinking i am gouing to need 4 to six depending on how I separate the three halves as i do not want any free floating dividers I want everything stitched in place.

I know I am going to use 8 to 9 oz leather (still not sure if I will be able to do a double shoulder or if I will have to get half a hide) the question is this, when making my pattern (which I am doing from scratch) how do I take into account the thickness of the leather?

Yeah my fingers have already started to scream and bleed and I haven't even bought the leather yet!!! I will once I start this
