Only liquid accident that i have bern around that was "bad" was helping dad rebuild an all wood chris craft 24 foot boat. The old man mixed then used the wrong epoxy..used cold weather epoxy in the middle of a Georgia summer...instead of the warm weather mix...nearly set the boat on fire...always remember to read labels!!!!

What Leather will you not work with and what?
Windrider30 posted a topic in Leatherwork Conversation
The reason I ask this is A: its always good to learn something different and B: I posted a few pics of a kangaroo leather braided belt that I do on twitter and someone was a little upset that I used roo leather which is fine and good but what wont you work with leather wise? Personally I will NEVER work with string ray..why...simply because its a real pain in the rump to work with and to me its not worth the trouble and the swearing! Also have seen a few projects made from elephant hide, sourced properly and what not, for me I will not use it simply because to me for some reason (and still not sure what that reason is lol) it seems wrong to use it. So what leather will you not work with and why? -
An online blizzard game that is addictive as hell lol

Also selling the big box for 95 bucks, thinking of selling the big box and 6 of the smaller deck cards for around 245 which is a 60 dollar savings if you were to buy 6 of the smaller packers (with buckle and strap which I have set for 35 bucks a pop) and the bigger box your looking at 305 plus shipping, might jump it to 250 for the full set but throw in shipping world wide (normal with tracking) for free...still playing with that idea.

How the hell do you do the dividers? I was thinking of doing a box with a "false" bottom as well just have to figure out how to go about doing that so that it fits nice and looks like an actual bottom not just a piece of leather tossed over top of something lol. Ah the ideas in my head lol. I may even have to start getting back into MTG again though don't have anyone to play around here that I am aware of lol

Love it!!! Though to be honest legally I do not think you are allowed to sell it, copy right and all that good jazz which sucks because those are great!

As there are a lot of pics once again I have chosen to use imgur so here is the link. Stole..er umm improved this idea off an idea that my wife had lol. Orginally she wanted a box style purse and I thought hmm that might make an interesting storage box for trading cards such as magic the gathering or any cards really. So figured I would give it a go to build one with an old design, modify it and go from there. This box I had in mind to go along with the smaller deck holders that I have started to make. The great thing is this design is simple enough that I can easily modify it for almost any size!

You are one of the few people that I know that actually make their own trees! That has to save you a few 100 I would think!

Amazing work!! Is the tree wood or the newer platicsthat i have heard about?

two small projects

I just have problems with my hands even using needle nose pliers mostly just hitting the hole back though and all the holes were already prepunched with a pricking iron, not that hard to figure out where you want the holes to go just a real pain for my hands to try to stitch it. Though did not think about using the curved needle may have to get one and try that though the curve is not small enough come to think of it as I do prefer to use smaller stitches as well as the saddle stitch method so I know its locked in place. Going to try a third prototype later today as I think I have a sam brown button laying around here some where!! -

The sam brown button would be a good idea, will have to try that my next box, the snap idea wouldn't work you could end up damaging the cards pushing on the snap it get it to close. Oh and handstitching is NOT practicle for this small of a box real bitch to do so will have to rethink the design or continue to use rivets which rivets are not hard to set once you have a block of wood or stone you can use to slide inside the box! -

The box is a tuck box with a small modiffaction of extending the lid out to where I liked it box is 2.64 inches x 3.66 inches x 2 inches. I agree 100% with you but the good thing is that is just a prototype to see if I could do it, to be honest as I said getting those damned bottom rivets set was a real bitch, making a second one now (after I hunt down a good templete for a belt strap!) but this one will be hand stitched with a strap and 3/4 inch buckle for a closure instead of the swing arm clasp just to see A: which is easier to do B: which style closure I like. -

The bottom is a bit of a bitch to get riveted in you really need something hard and long enough that you can put in the card holder, making another one today but this one I am going to hand stitch and add a buckle instead of the swing arm clasp to see which works a little easier for me -
Ok a little bored so figured what the hell give these two things a try, The one with the cog on it is a small belt bag steampunk kind of thing mostly for cosplay as it is small lol. Second is for a trading card deck holder such as magic the gathering should hold 60 sleeved cards if the dimentions are right. The box is kind of like a flip box, the bottom was a bitch to set the rivets really need to find a block of wood that is the same shape so I can pound on it, ende dup using several garden stakes to set the rives on the bottom, not a perfect solution but it did work!

Thanks been wanting to do something like this for a while with chainmail the trick was making sure that the chainmail panels stayed off the waist and hips, it moves nice and everything just was worried that the stitching would not last with the chainmail pulling on it

The weight for most of the corsets I make range from 4 to 6 0z normaly I try to stick with 5 to 6 oz veg tan leather, makes it so I do not need to make boning channels. And It is a little better off stiff so that it molds to the person who wears it over time. But to bend the side seams I just soak the hell out of the back with water, bend it into shape and either stitch it or rivet it. Normally I do not even glue the pieces together I normally (if using rivets) punch the first side with how ever many holes I want, then draw a half inch line along the seam on the back of the second piece line the top piece up, punch the top hole, do the same with the bottom then slowly start to force the leather in place lining the side seam up with that half inch line I drew on the back of the second panel I am working with, slowly marking the holes out on the new piece forcing the leather to bend the way I want then rivet the hell out of it lol. Thanks!

As A: there are a lot of pics and B: to large for this site and today my arms are killing me from doing the touch up work on the corset and lacing and all that good jazz I am being lazy lol so here is the url for the corset. A lot of rivets though I do have to get a better picture of the rivets to show off the textrure of them as they are textured rivets from tandy!

Tandy was a damn good price 135 for a 5 to 6 oz half hide

Ok every time I get a half a hide of veg tan leather I always see these marks running along one side or the other, are these from some kind of clamping they use in the tanning process?
