I recently picked up a Singer 241-12 off of Craigslist and have it running pretty well now with my wife's help. My question was on thread weight, I tried to search but didnt come up with what I was looking for. Right now I'm sewing 2-3 peices of 2 oz to a peice of 4 oz trying my hand at a few wallets. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your kind words. It's actually a shoe for a pony. ['ArtS']Do you mold it first then tool it? Thanks for your kind words. Yes, sure did. ['ArtS']I think you meant eyelet not rivet. LOL! I had rivets on the brain from another project. Thank you, I did mean eyelet.

Made a paper/leather weight for the work bench and put in a rivet so it can be hung up also. Wet molded the leather, carved the clover and finally got my mexican basket weave right to lace it up.

Congrats Ian, your work is fantastic. Best of luck on re-opening the shop. Where will it be located?

Very nice tooling! That pear shading and backgrounding work really well to highlight the design.

My apologies guys, guess I should have been more specific in the style I was looking for which was a solo/sprung style seat. I'm not a big fan of ebay due to some past experineces so I generally tend to shy away from there. But that looks like the only option at this point. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hey All, I would like to ask a favor, would someone mind posting or pm'ing me a seat pan template? I'd would like to try making a seat but dont really want to spend 50$+ on a pan for a trial run. I was thinking of using the template to cut out a plywood section and working with that. I totally understand and apologize if I'm stepping on toes by asking. I'll suck it up at some point and buy a pan if I'm asking to much. Thanks!

A couple of WIP

Thanks Roo! Here's the finished Ipod case. I'm really happy with it other than the lacing. I just couldnt get the corners right and I had to finish this one today. I think I have a mental block against following the instructions on round weave in the lacing book I have. -
Outstanding work, the detail is awesome.

"That's quite a coincidence. There's another leather artist who lives in Pennsylvania, also named James Ammon. He specializes in game boards." That is kooky...anyone else hear the twilight zone music playing? : )
