  1. Thank you to all those who've gotten the board up and running again! Great job!
  2. I use either white "crafters" glue or contact cement - depending on the size of the project. Let's say, for example, the box is about 4x4", I'd use the white glue: I have a large buffing mit, like you'd buy to wax a car, and I put that on top of the newly glued box, then I put my 12x12" tooling marble over that, and let it set for several hours. But if the project won't fit under the mitt, I'll use contact cement. That's just what works for me.
  3. I've done that same knot! I'm glad you're liking the program - I really like the coloring on your bracelet.
  4. I checked my supplies, and found I was 1/2 right...I did buy the dye at Tandy, but it's a Fiebing's product: Fiebing's Leather Dye, White. It's in a glass bottle, unlike their other dyes, and I can tell you it's STRONG in the smell dept. A friend dropped a bottle in his Tandy store, it broke and he had to open all the doors for a long time!
  5. I do mean dye...I believe Tandy put it out, but it's been a few years. I also buffed it with white shoe polish when finished.
  6. Maybe do the edges with tabs, and skive the leather down, glue the tabs under. I seem to recall seeing a piece by Peter Main with this type of assembly. I don't know if I'm explaining that really well...but I wouldn't stitch it either if it could be avoided.
  7. I kept telling myself I wasn't going to go due to difficult relations with certain people; but I decided I have too many friends who need to meet Ethan, our long awaited son, for the first time! So I will go out and stay with my inlaws in OH, and visit the show on Saturday. As others have mentioned, these shows are invaluable, and anyone involved in the field of leatherwork should go as often as they can.

    Basket by Joe

This is a basket Joe made. He asked me to post the pics for him.
  9. Just got finished setting my shop up in our new home in Hamburg, PA. We moved from New Castle, DE 2 months ago. It was our toughest move yet, because there was a month between when we settled on our DE home, and when we closed on the home here! That was a month with alot of travel with a toddler and 2 cats Anyhow....my specialty is Celtic art, though my hubby is always pestering me to do more leaves and scrolls. I mostly do leather/wood boxes; but will take orders for wallets, folios, wristbands, etc etc. My website, slightly out of date at this point is http://home.att.net/~wildrosecreations/ My biggest piece yet was a shield for a LARPer (live action role player). It was also the most difficult because it had to meet very specific requirements. My second hardest was a WHITE binder for a wedding guest book. I discovered that dying leather white is not something I care to repeat...then again, the silver interior for it wasn't much of a treat either!
  10. I love your work! I've not seen designs like these while in IILG in years past. It makes me think of my trip to Cancun and visiting Chichen Itza.

  13. Had some trouble with the petals on this one - I'd shrunk the pattern and didn't use the right tool for the smaller size. But am still pleased with the outcome.
  14. Amen on the Brettuns newsletter - Joe T told me about them and I laughed myself practically off the chair reading it!
  15. I THINK that they are, I'd had this file saved for a while. I've ordered from them in the past, but it's been a few years ago.

I understand! It's tough when customers as me that very question...sometimes I think they want to know so they can guess if they're getting their money's worth? I guess as you do it more and more it gets easier, but in some ways it's still time consuming no matter what.
  17. Fascinating job! And your work is as always gorgeous

That is amazing work! How long does a project like that take you to complete?
  22. I have been having a blast identifying plants at our new home. I thought I would share some pics that you might want to use.
  23. For the first time this year, I'll be selling at Burnside Plantation's Blueberry Festival in Bethlehem, PA. It's a colonial era event, so I've been trying to focus on more than just Celtic art (my usual). Here is my latest, a jewelry box. As you can see, it's gotten the cat inspection already!
