    Leather glue

I have used the fiebings water based glue. It works great. If I find myself wanting to speed up, I use weldwood.
  2. Very cool.
  3. Mine has a cam of sorts. It doesn't work very well. But it does have a simple wooden triangle glued underneath to keep the thread from snagging. Just find a small triangle block and glue it under the wingnut.
  4. Alligator isn't very appetizing, either. It's like stringy, muddy, tough chicken. Muddy like how catfish taste. But these Cajuns love everything about Louisiana, whether it's good or not.
  5. I haven't used any exotics but I have read a bit about them. They are harvested as parts of another industry. Commercially available hides are obtained legally. I'm not sure who's is eating elephants or kangaroos, but people here eat alligator.
  6. Have you had contact with Matchlock?
  7. Wickett and Craig are just as good as H.O. You can buy single hides from them. You won't be disappointed.
  8. I use sand paper on a piece of quartz for my blades. Edge tools can be done just like the groover. Cut an edge, add rouge, and run backwards. Even the punches need some help. Al Stohlman has a book called "Leather Tools How to Use Them How to Sharpen Them". Very good book about 15 bucks on Amazon.
  9. Yeah, you have to sharpen everything when it comes to leather. Two years ago I could barely sharpen a pocket knife. You just have to make yourself learn it. Leather with dull tools is dangerous. I even polish my razor blades nowadays. Makes life easier.
  10. Take a piece of scrap and cut a groove in it. Rub rouge into the groove. Then run your groover backwards thru it several times. You will notice a difference once it's sharp.
  11. Ok guys and gals, I had an idea. This could fix a lot of newbie questions (me included). Please play the game to help us novices along. Post a few really good pictures of your machine. And even different feet that you use. Explain what you sew with your machine. Explain a little about what you like about it, and don't like about it. If you have more than one machine to brag on, by all means, share about it too. If you guys are willing to participate, we will have a great thread to point people like me towards. Thanks everyone. Keep having fun.
  12. Y'all have convinced me. I had thought it was compound feed, but it's not. I will save up.
  13. These machines are so confusing. Thanks Wiz.
  14. So, it has alternating presser feet and feed dogs, but no needle feed?
  15. It looks great. Is the orange leather veg or chrome?
  16. I think I would put this to belts, sheaths, and cc holsters.
  17. Thanks I had planned on a big and small machine. So this could fill the ticket.
