Great job.

The 3200 is going to have a maximum of 1\2". It is a good middle ground machine. Thinner items will be better served with a machine like the 227r or 341. There is no do all one machine. The consew 206 is less expensive but it is a flat bed. Hope this helps.

Before I jump in the deep end...
bikermutt07 replied to kaneda2033's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I am not a sewing machine guy yet. But I have done some research myself. The 206 RB is a work horse for thinner goods. However, doing clothing you may want to look at the cowboy 227r or the newer 341 cylinder arm machines. The 341 is the same machine as the 227 but runs a larger bobbin. You are correct about most people running more than one machine. I am planning on one of the above machines coupled with a cowboy 4500 for thicker stuff. Most smaller machines run up to about 5\16 thickness and most large machines are good for 1\2 to 3\4 thickness. Some even run something like a cowboy 3200 to fill the gap in the middle. I'm not familiar with all the machines you mentioned , but the experts love these kinds of threads. They will chime in before much time has passed. Good luck.- 9 replies

No worries.

I believe they are the same machine. Locale would probably be your determining factor. Cobra is in California and cowboy is I. Toledo, I believe. Both are well known here for customer satisfaction. You will do great dealing with either one.

On the market for an Arbor Press - which one should I get?
bikermutt07 replied to Thatone's topic in Leather Machinery
The palmgren press has a 3\8" hole already drilled. It's available on Amazon. The .5 ton has done fine for me with stamps and snaps. I wasn't aware of the ratchet mod though. I will check into that.- 2 replies

That's a cool looking rig. Welcome to the forum. There are lots of experts here that are really good about sharing their experience. I am just a hobbyist myself. If I can offer anything, the stitching needs a little work. Work on getting consistent tension. It will help the stitches come out a little more uniform. There is probably more to add to the stitching advice, but it's difficult to tell in the pictures. Look up leodis Leather and Nigel at Armitage leather on YouTube. They have some great stitching videos. Good luck and have fun.

Another hybrid.

That is a great looking functional piece. But let's be totally honest, I think we are less then a decade away from everyone carrying a purse. We men just have too much stuff for pockets anymore.- 8 replies

Dave I'm only in my forties and can't do tooling. Too many years in construction. It makes my hands hurt and I have to save them for work. We can make plenty of stuff without tooling though. There is plenty more art in leather than just tooling. We can still make cool artistic stuff. Don't be too discouraged.

That's some really nice work. Welcome aboard!
