  1. Your round pouch looks like a great idea for earbuds. And your edge coat is looking pretty good. Question about the laser. Is it a higher end model or one of the 400.00 dollar ones from Amazon?
  2. Woof woof
  3. Can't wait to see you tooling on quality leather. Your stuff is awesome.
  4. The whole it can save money on dye is a valid argument. Not to mention, it does look more buyer friendly in two tone. (Maybe I need one)?????.
  5. For sharpening I use sand paper on a piece of quartz. Sandpaper is cheap.
  6. It looks like it is illustrated well. And it comes with the patterns. I bet you could muddle through it. Then again, they don't look that hard to design.
  7. My splitter is mounted low on an old nightstand. If I don't pull the leather downward it will slice it off everytime. I need to get around to building some benches.
  8. I love my knipknives. Have the clicker on order.
  9. Is it just me or does that machine look like it can do 3 at a time? That'll really speed it up.
  10. There's a lady in Shreveport who does a lot of patch work. She is quick to tell someone when she can't make something work. But, she does have a patcher.
  11. We all shoot in the dark with color. It just is. Buying prefinished leather is your best bet on the colors.
  12. That's too nice to throw keys on.
  13. If these are store bought shoes, they are chrome tanned. They look chrome tanned to me, anyway. This is dyed at the factory and the closest you can get is all you can do. If you look to Maverick or Arcadia's websites you may find something similar. I haven't ordered from Acadia but have had good dealings with Maverick. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me will pop in.
  14. I am just guessing but I think you would need a patcher for that application. Something like the singer 29-4. An expert will be along before long.
  15. Thanks for sharing, and welcome aboard.
  16. That is amazing. WTH happened to your thumb?!? OUCH!!!
  17. Yep. Get yourself a scrap of leather. Cut the groove line. Rub some rouge in the line. Now pull your groover backwards thru the line. This also works for edging tools. If it is really really dull you may need to resort to 400 - 1000 grit sandpaper first. Al Stohlman's leather tools book will show you how to sharpen all of you tools. We all learn after we get interested in leather, that we also have to learn to sharpen. Good luck.
  18. Thanks for the clarification, Bruce. Your sage advice is always welcome.
  19. Wow, I haven't seen any of this in the 3 years I have been here. Glad I never had enough scratch to pick one up. I got lucky on a bargain Heritage splitter. Thanks for sharing the info.
  20. Yeah, my wife destroys mere mortal purses. I may have to build her one. If I start within the month, maybe I can be finished by Christmas.
