Dont forget if your a wholesale member you get your one free one a month if you buy one other or something like that. YOu have to bring it to there attention though as you cant get it via online order. My girlfriend is the sale consumer guru but what she basically does is takes the skiver, monthly ad, online sales, and instore sales and basically works out the best deal from all of them depending on what I am ordering. She is great when it comes to that. The best way to order if you cant drive in is setup your basket with all your stuff online then print out your basket, this will list all your stuff with numbers. Then call in and you have your list and applicable numbers to fill your order and make it very easy. The sales associate at tandy usually appreciate this as well, makes it easy from what I can tell.

wolf style rifle sling
MADMAX22 replied to MADMAX22's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Very nice, not that you need reminding but dont forget to post it up. -
Once you slick the edges or get glue or wax on the leather the vinegaroon will not color it black, I use neatsfoot but you can use any oil. Dont worry about making it too soft, itll take some oil to get it back to normal because the vinegaroon really dries it out. When you pull it out of solution let it dry a bit then slick the edges and they will slick up just fine. Really good actually. After it is oiled you can put whatever top coat on you like and it should work just fine. This particular holster if you dont want the white spots your probably gonna have to make a new holster. Sorry man.

wolf style rifle sling
MADMAX22 replied to MADMAX22's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks guys, really appreciate the input. I guess I gotta let it dry a bit more, I find sweetspots sometimes but never can seem to hold it at that good point for very long. Ill try and let it dry a little more next round do some more experimenting with it. I can get you dimensions when I get home and that should give you a rough idea. However the sizes are endless really as too how you wanna play with it. -
Oh yeah wanted to add, dont forget ebay bought craigslist as well if I remember correctly.

wolf style rifle sling
MADMAX22 replied to MADMAX22's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks Jbyrd and yes I need to improve on the beveling. I get most of the little guys smoothed out but the larger underlying bumbs dont smooth out as well. I definatly need more practice with working with the carving/stamping tools. I got into doing work for a while that was simple cases that didnt have any art work on them. And Im allways open to improvements that I can make, thanks -
Working on another rifle sling. This one I was trying for a old style look to it. The dye didnt come out as even as I would have liked but over all Im pleased with it so far. But when I finish (still gotta sew on the padded portion and put it together) Ill probably try to pawn it off on someone at work lol. Got the wolf image online, I drew up the feather and kind of free handed it on the leather except for the outline, and got the wolf print online. I was gonna use my hair tool but I still cant get any good results with that thing, so I just used the swivel knife for everthing, did alot of molding with the the modeler spoon or whatever its called. Ill post another pic when its all finished. Sorry for the bad pics I really gotta get one of those white boxes built.

For me right now ebay is ok, Im selling a couple of things but its only temperary until I get my business license and a website setup. I know what you mean by the fees. If you keep it down to small items that dont go for too much then your ok but big items thats another story. Unfortinatly like everything else paypal started out as a good deal believe it or not, it was one of the first online secure forms of working with money and you didnt have to worry about getting your credit card info ripped off and such. Started out as a good idea. Oh and yes our socialist republic is kind of screwed up to say the least but you all know what, we let it get that way. I feel really bad but in all reality we the people got comfy and didnt feel like taking the measures to ensure that our government made sure we were first on the order of priorities. Instead we sat back, complained, and let them take out money. We let them pass all these damn baby sitter laws to keep every idiot safe. All well its still a nice place to live.

Thats a good job Ian. You got a nice color out of it and good stamping. I like the design with the gussets and the gusset flaps as part of the side D mounts.

Leather electrician's tool belt
MADMAX22 replied to Peterk's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Every tool belt that I have scene for this type of thing is generally atleast 8oz if not more like 10oz stuff. If you want the most longest lasting till the end of time thing then some kind of bridle leather, latigo or something similer will do the trick and put up with allmost anything being thrown at it. You could use vegtan also just like you do for your holsters and such and it should hold up for many many years if taken care of which Im sure he will. As far as replecating the other one just let him know that it wont be all floppy like the canvas one and that it will hold its shape more and all since its leather. You could cut up the canvas one but personally I would just measure all the pockets and transfer the idea to leather with allowances for thickness and such. If you have al stohlmans case making books (three of them) they will help alot, if not you may think about checking those guys out. Thats just my newbish input, but if you can build nice holster Im sure you can build a utility belt just fine. Time to learn some more stuff -
Has anyone here ordered or dealt with these guys, they are somewhat close (about an hour away) and I was wondering if they were worth the trip. They seem kind of pricey on there leather but other stuff is pretty decent. http://www.macphersonleather.com/carving_a...ing_leather.htm

Thats some great info Gary. By chance do you ever have any issues using vegtan with dog collars, heard here that sometimes they are allergic to it.

Excellent work
-
Yeah nice touch on the letters/numbers. Good looking seat so far.

I think its just like if you put the whole thing in a bunch of water, when it dries its probably gonna shrink up some. Maybe oil it real good when its drying or set it on some kind of a jig to keep it from stretching. Maybe, Im still new so, but mos teverything I used with vinegaroon I molded after words while it was still wet

THats a good idea with the book thing, I should start doing that.

Fully adjustable rifle sling pattern?
MADMAX22 replied to jesters1's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Did you happen to find this link http://www.rollanet.org/~stacyw/rifle_sling_home_page.htm I searched all kinds of stuff before getting some help from David. You may not find the exact pattern but you may get en0ough from there to be able to build one. -
Busy huh, those boot cover things are pretty cool, I am interested as too how well they hold up. Looks good though. The wallet is nice as well, good job on the horse carvings and the interior. My only change I would make is to treat the hair on portion like an inlay, may make it a little neater but thats just me Im kind of a inlay nut, started doing it and cant stop lol. Overall great job.
