I use the lavasoft programs and the spy bot searcha nd destroy and they work pretty darn good. I also use windows firewall. I also use this program called ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/help/?v=2.10.618&l=1033 Run it and have it clean out all the cookies and such on your computer everyonce in a while. Now be advised if you have webpages with autologon setup like this forum if you have it clicked to remember your computer you will have to retype your name and password because it cleans up all the cookies. Another thing when you turn on your computer hit F8 repeatedly and this should give you a option to boot into safe mode. Boot into safe mode which will allow only the programs necessary to run your computer (it will look odd because you wont have any video drivers running), now in safe mode do all your scans, do the avg scan, SB, and Ccleaner, then reboot and log in normally.

Another thing, you guys that have websites, who did you go thru to get your domain name and setup your website?-
-
Well I finally applied for my state business license (doing a LLC), mainly to get my tax id number and then to eventually setup a website to maybe make a little money on the side. Ofcourse now Im all worried about the taxes and stuff lol, gotta do some more research as I didnt research enough recently. I helped with my parents shop for 15 years but didnt do most of the paperwork. ? for you guys, did you incorporate your old inventory into your new business when you started it or just start fresh and have youe old inventory for a buffer per say. Whats the best record keeping program that you guys have found that works good for small personal business? Any pointers or big no no's for the type of thing that I am going to be doing? I know there are about 1.2million different ones but anyways.... Oh and one last thing, so if you still sell some stuff on ebay do you use your business name and such or would that be against ebay polisy if so would all the ebay sales be totally seperate from the business adventure.

All kinds of things lol You can mix it with reson, some oil, and make little balls that you use to wax linen thread with if you want to wax your own thread. I rub the wax on my edges to aid me in burnishing the edges. Most seals like snowseal and severl others use a mix of bees wax but Im not sure of the recipes of the wax for these applications.

Looking for a Tannery Riggins, ID
MADMAX22 replied to Kowboyboots's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I had heard of a place up here in the bremerton area that packaged meat and tanned hides from your hunting kills but I think they went under. I dont know of any places other then that in my area. -
New Belt
MADMAX22 replied to Rawhide's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice belt Marlon, good job on the stitching, I still cant seem to get the hold everything and stitch thing. I am gonna wait till I get a real stitching horse for that. I think you would like that pattern on the inside better if the outside wasnt black. I think the pattern and dye job is fine its just with the black outside I think is what doesnt jive (IMHO). It still looks good though. -
Esantoro would be the person to talk to about that one. He also has many pics of the ones he makes, may help ya out a bit.

Thanks Marlon, Ill give that a shot.

new Barge cement, yuk
MADMAX22 replied to Daggrim's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I have been using the tandy contact cement as of late. Seems to do the job pretty good. I did run across the contact cement they have at Lowes (home improvment store) and grabbed a can of that stuff. Not sure of how it works yet as havnt tried it out but it is cheaper if I remember correctly.OK now that I looked the tandy stuff is just rebadged barge cement so probably same issue there. The stuff I got at lowes is Weldwood gel formula contact cement. Gonna give it a try on my next project and see how it works. It was 5.48$ for a 16oz can -
OK so what order are you suppose to go in when you are basketweaving and need to do the edge all the way around. I usually cut the boarder then bevel it then basketweave stamp the area then go along the boarder with a boarder stamp of my choice to finish it off. This doesnt allways give the correct results or looks as good as I wanted. Is it better to not cut the boarder at all and just scribe a line? Should I bevel last?

Have not done it but I would suggest a little heavier leather. Probably 6oz if you can, this will be stronger and will keep some of the weight down. You could probably use the one you allready have for the overall design. Throw ina bunch of your own designs and such and a little bling like some conchos or some lace or something. Sounds like a really cool idea. You sure he wont mind all the extra attention he'll be getting at the shows. Ooops 2-3mm, I wanst reading corrrectly lol.

LOL and you were having problems, man that is very nice, you did a great job. Nice work with the backgrounder as well. When I first started I kept trying to do celtic designs on projects that were way to small and kept getting frustrated and throwing stuff away. I had to go bigger at first and started working my way down in size. Getting better but I also know my limits now so I can slowly push them instead of trying to stampede thru lol.

Thats not a bad idea at all. Strictly a leather related only auction house. When people want something made of leather they go to the leather auction.

Congrats too a great finished product. You should buy a couple of beers for whoever got that triweave stamping done, that is a really good job.

Two Tone Double Layer Gunbelt
MADMAX22 replied to Bree's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thats a very nice belt. I like the contrast you got with the white stitching. Very clean looking overall. Good job. -
Very good job on that one. You did an excellent job of everything. THat was a nice touch using the screw conchos, gives a little extra touch.

MADMAX22 replied to Hedge's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That is a nice gun belt. It seems to have paid off to do the mixing and get that final color. That looks really good. -
elves coin purse
MADMAX22 replied to gesa's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That looks really cool, does the flap just hang over, theres no closure device correct. The finish I like also. -
Finish recipe
MADMAX22 replied to King's X's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Nope dont know but do you by chance have that link. Also sometimes you can use translaters too a extent/ -
You know scissormedic I found the same thing with the ceramic blades. When I got mine I was really surprised at the cutting edge. I had scene a few ceramic knives that were stunning on how smooth and sharp they were. Now after about a hour of getting it dialed in it is great but they could of used a little better finish from the factory.

Great now I have a whole bunch of new threads to look thru, LOL thanks for bringing them back as I joined right after the crash so didnt get to see all the older stuff you guys had here.
