  1. That looks really cool Roger. I dig the design. It really jumps at ya (no pun intended).
  2. Thanks Nomad, actually those second set of pictures answered my questions. Im doing mine a little different but was mainly looking for ideas of how you would put it together. Very good stuff.
  3. Would like to add that while I havnt made any holsters really I do make the mutli tool pouches on occasion and use vine for that and it works just fine. Had a few people use them for a while and no ill reports of rusted multi tools. Just like to add also my recipe for the vinegraroon is using a big plastic coffe jug I put the gallon (little less) of the vingeger in there and added about 3 or so of the steel wool. No need to rust it up first or anything. After about 2 weeks or so it is usable for a nice finish. Now after a little longer it is just a black vineger with a few chunkies in the bottom. It works very well. I can either dip them or paint it on, works both ways.
  4. That is some great work. I like it. I am working on a similer design for my roadliner (yamaha star) for a bag for over the rear fender. Do you have any suggestions on things to do or to avoid when doing that sloped bag style like that.
  5. I like, that US cavalry one has some very cool coloring to it.
  6. Those are really nice, I like both of them.
  7. There are alot of states that are open carry. WA state is one also. WHen I was in VA there were a bunch of cops that got in trouble for arresting or taking guns from people that were open carry because they didnt know any better (know the law if your gonna enforce it right....). Several times people had cops called on them by others when they were open carry. For the OP I have a ccw and carry when I know I dont have to go on base. HARRYB that is just wrong, I cant believe they allowed that to get printed. Thats like something they would do to a sex offender. Im serprised that paper didnt get a law suit against it.
  8. Well had a little boute of lack of creativity or what not but finally got back around to doing some projects. So redid this one and figured that I would post up some pics of it.
  9. Very cool I like it. Good ideas with how you worked it all together.
  10. Hey thanks a bunch guys, Ive been away for a few days goofing off lol. OK so thats what I was basically doing with running back thru and trimming off on the back side of the leather. I just thought for some reason that there was some other way of doing it that I hadnt thought of yet. And yes it is the same for either one piece of leather or like Dave mentioned for the glued layers which is allways what I seem to be into when lacing.
  11. GJ David, really nice finally seeing a finished product of yours that isnt black lol. Bet you were happy when you got that order.
  12. Hey guys I know this is pretty simple beginner stuff or should be lol but I have never really learned how to properly end a lacing job that doesnt have two layers of leather. I know every book I read seems to have the lacing joining eachother at the end and I understand how to join them up to end it but what happens when you dont rejoin the beginning and just end at say the edge of a gusset or something. This is mainly for the double and triple I guess but any others are welcome. I have been just lacing as far as I can then running back under a few laces and cutting it off but am not sure if there is another way to hide that at all. Thanks for any input.
  13. Just because its not the most popular doesnt mean it wont sell. With as many different customs and such out there today everyone is looking for something a little different. When they see something that stands out or may fit a theme as McJeep was saying they will buy it. Also dont forget about all the women that are riding nowadays, alot more then in past years (which is nice because then you can ride solo and still play around lol) they have different taste for there accesories then us burly men do. Great job.
  14. I tried my first W@C leather a little bit ago, went all out and got the good stuff a side. I must say it is the nicest leather Ive worked with. Ive tried all grades from tandy and hand picked them out and some were ok to pretty good but the WC stuff was just amazing. It dyed so much more evenly and took tooling and such much easier. The thing that got me was the dye just seemed to even out far better with it. All in all just seemed like some really good stuff. Ill be ordering more.
  15. The cops arent gonna do anything 99%of the time. Hate to say it but its true unless you live in some really small town and you have a friendship with them and then maybe just maybe they can help you out. A guy on a bike forum I frequent had a bike stolen from him. He saw the parts listed on ebay two days later (could tell because of the custom paint job). So he bought one of the parts off the guy to get his mailing address and such. Took all that to the cops and they were well rather pissed and basically told him to back off or he was going to get the short stick lol. Just try to protect your self and keep an eye out for others. Even if you got his/her address and went to there home if you can find it the chances of that turning out good are slim as the law in this country is more toward protecting criminals then it is the innocent. Use water marks and such and report bad ones is about all you can do. Or not sell on ebay.
  16. I really like that, it is stylish and looks very strong and useful. Good job.
  17. Thats really cool, thanks for taking the time to make that video Ian.

  19. The backgrounding tool was a combo of the E294 series. And thanks
  20. Hey guys was looking around at some sewing machines and came across this in a local shop. Just dont know much about it. The pfaff 3.0 has a walking foot and such. Generally what can these guys handle in terms of sewing leather. Another question, what is a good price for it? Is it worth it to step up to the next model.
  21. True, sorry I wasnt sure if I described it properly but was just trying to use it as a example. That makes alot of sense on how you described issues that could happen with the drill. Thanks for your input. I would like to add that I have tried both and I use the awl method or traditional method. I usually get really good results. I have however used the drill method when I was sewing a multi layered project and I must say using a 5/64" drill gave me a very nice looking stitch just not the same style as the awl does. Ill still use the awl for 98% of my projects. I just like to figure out more I guess on somethings.
  22. Understood thats not in debate. However Im wondering if just because you remove a small amount or cut it which one effects it more. If you cut a small hole even if you push those fibers aside they are still not attached to anything so what good are they doing. Im a more scientific person so sometimes things like this I like having a reason or some proof OTHER then someone saying that it is this way just because he was taught that way by someone else who was taught that way. In most cases the handed down method works the best however sometimes we have a more modern way of doing something that could work as well if not better. Not allways the case but sometimes.
  23. Pardon me but doesnt an awl cut the leather. The only thing that pushes the leather out of the way is a round pointed like a scratch awl. A stitching awl is sharpened on its edges so its like a four bladed knife allmost. This still cuts a hole in the leather however you do it in a fasion so that the hole is slit at a angle and when the thread is drawn thru you are (if the correct size awl is used) filling this slit with the thread. The leather doesnt really close back up. Now is removing a small amount of leather completely or just cutting it make any difference in structeral ability I am not sure but I am thinking if you drill the proper size holes that it wont effect it any more then cutting the same size hole. In theory a round hole would be less prone to tearing then a slit like say from a awl but awls have been used for some time and the things seem to hold pretty darn good so.
  24. I put a bid on it but within minutes it was out of my price range. Looks like a nice piece though.
