  1. I saw that video too, very informative but I have a hard time swallowing the arrogance of WCC. I find it very annoying.
  2. @northmount, What magnets do you use? I ordered a few from kjmagnetics.com and I don't think they are strong enough. I ordered DB1, DB01, DC01-N52, and DD01 thinking they'd be strong enough. I am wanting them to be 3/4" or very near that size. BTW, as a sidenote to all those saying that magnets will erase credit card info from magnetic strip... I have been using a magnetic money clip for well over 15 years and have NEVER had an issue with my cards due to the magnets. It has always been because other cards have scraped the magnet stripe of the card next to it. Yes, I do believe that if you get them strong enough they might erase the cards... but you'd probably not be able to open the money clip either!!!
  3. Thanks. Well my woodworking friend probably wishes that he DID NOT have a leatherworking friend now... I used up quite a bit of his day doing the two projects.... I will still be posting pics of the other project soon...
  4. I might have to give that a try and see what happens. I even have the plastic wrap in the 4" version! Thanks,
  5. Anyone here ever create a leather steering wheel wrap? Are there any patterns or examples of them? Any ideas or direction would be appreciated.
  6. I did some test/Armitage wallet cuts on some 1-1/2 to 2oz lining leather like cutting butter. Then I cut some 4-5oz Herman Oak and it also cut really smooth and was able to cut straighter than ever. So now I have a whole bunch of Nigel's 70cm x 100cm wallet pieces.... guess I need to make some wallets now.
  7. If anyone is interested in buying rotary cutters, JoAnn's fabric and craft stores is having a huge sale. A lot of stuff is 50% off and some stuff you need a 50% off coupon (you can get those by signing up on their website.) I bought one of the cheaper brands today, I will let you know how it goes with leather. I did cut some thin paper like it wasn't even there... I thought maybe I wasn't doing it correctly and then realized it was already cut. It was a package deal... Cutter, mat(12"x18"..no metric), and ruler Listed for $49.99 but was 50% off Thought I would let everyone know just in case you are interested in those.

Bought this at JoAnn's. It was regularly priced at $49.99 but was 50% off! Cha Ching Terry
  9. 35E? So are you a ham radio operator now? My vanity callsign is W5NRA. I'll look for that FB page! Put it in your signature on here. Just some more publicity! I had heard of the Post 9/11 but didn't know what was different about it! Good thing to pass on if you weren't going to use it anyway!!!
  10. Thanks for posting this, I have also been struggling with corners a bit and seen another pic of a corner similar to the one you posted and thought "DUH!" I was trying to get the sharp crisp corner when I needed a sweeping curve anyway... LOL Now where are those donkey ears I set down!
  11. Thanks zulu, most of that workmanship was my friend, as he is what I would call a master woodworker and has the tools to show it! He actually didn't want me to take it home with the base because he accidentally routed too far under the upright and so we routed the whole topside of the base. I kept telling him.. it's OK I'm going to be sitting on that part anyway!!! Yes, I know about the thinner clamps, I had thought about that but will try as is before I attach my leather to see if it is workable for me. If not, yes I will sand those down before I put the leather protection on it. Yes to the leather liners. When I said that I had leather formed and drying, that is what I was referring, they were just not in the photos. Stain and/or sealer is what I have in mind after the testing phase and I will post pics in this same thread when I am done with testing and completion. BTW, it's just pine, so it's not going to be too impressive...Oh wait, the tiny base piece with the bolt through it... that is maple! LOL
  12. I, along with a friend that has a huge woodworking shop, made myself a stitching pony today. I have the leather formed and drying at the moment, almost ready to start using it on a wallet that I started yesterday. Here are some pics of the stitching pony. I also cutout the pieces for a block to hold my stamping and punching tools. I will post pictures of that soon. Terry P.S. Not sure why I can't post them side-by-side...

  20. I just purchased a BK 1lb straight maul from SLC. Very happy with the feel of it and weight. I haven't had a whole lot of tooling experience yet but it does feel nice! Just another newb..
  21. I would be interested in a round knife and maybe some stamps. Is there any leather? PM sent
  22. Hidepounder has a pdf file that you can download for finishing edges. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18101
  23. I know this is old but the comment above about Bar Keepers Friend being oxalic acid intrigued me enough to go look for the MSDS sheet. I need to use it for getting rid of black spots on veg tan from metal snaps. http://www.barkeepersfriend.com/files/file/MSDS/MSDS_BKF_Powder_2015.pdf
  24. Thanks for sharing! No really, thanks a lot for sharing... been struggling with the size of pockets for card holders... and thanks Halitech for directing me over here!!! WAAAAYYYYYY too many threads to read... LOL
  25. I'm actually not experienced more than you.. LOL I seen it it a video, I think George Hurst. It is the widest point and overlaps a little at that spot, anywhere else besides near the middle and you might still be able to see the line that you are trying to camouflage.
