  1. Hi, Could I please get access to Adult Area, thanks. Regards Paul Name: Paul Greer UserName: Pauly IP Address: 121.214.31.126 Email Address: derfredpaul@hotmail.com
  2. Sorry so long to reply. It was a great idea and I take no credit it was a creative pirate lass' concept -I just made it. I'll explain my dye 'technique' if you can call it that. 1. I dye it with the brown dye with lumps in it that I bought 2nd. hand and has no label. I do this thoroughly, using a cotton bud to get into the deeper tooling. (You may have trouble getting some old ratty dye so you may have to settle for dye without chunks.) 2. Using my index finger I flick off any dry vintage dye bogeys. 3. I may have to wipe them onto my jeans. 4. Then I use black over the top as sparingly as I can, I let the dye on the rag dry a bit before applying to avoid streaks. That's it. I'm hooked on this look and do nearly all my stuff this way. Thanks for the positive feedback. Catch you later.
  3. Hi there, This was a barrel of laughs to make especially since pirates and leather just go together...not to mention rum. So it's a garter worn on your thigh that holds a hipflask. What the photo doesn't show is the pocket behind that holds a hipflask. I tried my best not to spend too long working on it whilst still doing a quality job but in the end I would have made it for $3 an hour. I usually charge more I think I misjudged fiddling time- the time spent just working out what shape to make it. Oh well, wont quit the day job just yet lucky for me it's all just for fun. Still learning so any pointers welcome. AAAAHHHG!(pirate noise)
  4. Looks great, I should make myself one of those to keep my sketches and crazy doodles in rather than having them scattered over the place.
  5. That looks unreal, I want one. Must get myself that backgrounding tool, been meaning to for about 2 years. The color really compliments the tooling.
  6. Thanks guys. Funny...I got a windy storm, I'll just wait for rain or a rainbow.
  7. I never tire of skulls and flames. Looks really good.
  8. Hi there, Seen some great stuff on this site tonight. Here's some stuff I've done lately.[attach ent=12871:starwallet.JPG]
  9. I use beeswax with my ugly stick....this is a stick I picked up at the park which I cut a groove in and cleaned up. It's some kind of eucalypt and the groove works really well on my edges. I haven't seen this done but I'm sure I would have just reinvented the wheel. Works for me and the price was right.
  10. Hi there Phil, I'm also in Hellbourne. Tis a great place just a bit cool this time of year.
  11. I get all my Kangaroo Lacing and all my other leather skins at NSW Leather in Melbourne and found them to have great service and quality. I found the need to ring ahead as sometimes I need to wait a couple of weeks for them to get more stock of what I want. As for customs I used to import kung-fu weapons from China and found Australian customs very approachable and friendly as long as your up front and honest. I'd just email them and ask. Hope you have a great holiday.

    Bookbinding

Thanks I'll be following up those leads. All the best Paul
  14. Hi, I thought I'd make a nice sketch book/diary, a nice simple one but a bit more handmade and special than just a leather cover for a sketchbook bought at the Art Store. Went to the library and and got 2 bookbinding books and proceded to become overwhelmed by way too much information. Worthwhile and rewarding things are often difficult but I need to take some baby steps in bookbinding not learn the entire 1000 year old art of bookbinding (including $1000 of equipment!) Any references or tips anybody can spare would be much appreciated. Thanks Paul
  15. mmmmm brains! Brings out the ZOMBIE in me. It's got originality and I hold nothing else in higher regard; bring on the late nights may we stave off the monotony.
  16. Hi Spider, Just put a ruler on the lacing in my wallet and it measures 4.5mm. it's official size is probably in inches but I don't know what that is - I tend to shop on instinct. It's slightly bigger than or maybe exactly the same size as the holes my lacing chisel makes so its a bit of a pain for me to lace with. Pauly
  17. Great skull and japanese waves. I especially like the texture and color of the background the texture reminds me of gravel - nice n tough. Good on you, nice looking piece.
  18. Thanks guys. You guessed it Tom, I just embossed it with the pointed end of my modeling tool. Sometimes I open it up more with the flat end but I don't think I did with that one. Makes a nice channel to hold dye and its quicker than cutting and tooling. Sometimes it's nice to finish something in one go and move on to the next thing although it doesn't have the WOW factor of the work that takes billions of hours.
  19. Looks super cool. You'll be able to scare the bejesus out of people with that one, may you get a door to door sales person soon. Your work paid off, looks hellish in the best possible way.
  20. Hi, Dug out some photos of some wallets I did last year. I was making one of these every weekend for a while until I got it out of my system. Been enjoying doing less time consuming things this year. bye
  21. That's so original & custom made I love it. The sort of object that'd be nice to have in your daily life -especially if you like 'gators.
  22. Looks unreal, it looks like you've really taken your time giving it a peaceful vibe.
  23. Thanks guys, you rock. It's true Tom, seeing all the great stuff on this site it has already lifted my standards, and I'm learning fast. Thanks for the encouraging words. Pauly
  24. Far out! Pleasure to see such a nice object. It's sure to be treasured and should outlive us all.
  25. Hi all, These wallets typify my stuff, it's always a little rough around the edges as I got a stack to learn. Thought I should post something rather than lurking silently round the site. thanks pauly
