Thanks .... I have used a fair amount of Horween.....mainly chromexcel.....bought directly from Horween, and from Maverick leather.....both equine and bovine. It is a beautiful leather and I will always use Horween, (among others as well). I am quite sure if you give it a try, you will really like it.
Thanks will46er......if I am understanding your question, there are two pockets on the inside of the bi fold. They have stitching, simply to match the other stitching. I do not alive.....and yes, it can be a bit thick, but with this horween chromexcel, it breaks in and becomes very nice.
On Youtube Bruce Cheaney also has a very good, short tutorial on antiquing, a tooled dog collar in this case. Basically......two coats of Tan-Kote or Wyosheen.let dry......Eco-Flo gel antique (Tandy)......let dry for a little bit (he puts it in front of a fan).........then rub in another coat of Tan-Kote which rubs off some of the antiquing on non tooled areas, but keeps it in the tooled areas nicely. After this dries, another Tan-Kote if needed. I have recently used this "system" on a set of spur leathers and it turned out well.......Good luck
Hello All......I have a couple of basketweave stamps up for grabs. Craftool x811, and x500s. The x500s has never been used, and the x811 has only been used once for a small set of spur leathers. They cost $8 each, but I will sell both for $10 shipped in the con't USA.......Message me if interested.......Don
Hello all. I have a veg tan belt blank that I cut from a double shoulder that I am casing ( ala instructions from here). It is in a cooler and ready to tool any time. If I don't get to it and don't start any tooling, can I re-case if it dries out? Thanks.
Wages Silversmith has German Silver (which is actually nickel etc....no actual silver) and sterling silver overlay. They are 100% made in the USA ... don't know if shipping would kill you though.......
Thanks all........I like the soldering iron idea.......I'm looking for a way to seal and conceal the thread ends. I do not like the look of the reversing....what is the beeswax used for re. the thread sealing?
I've bought several oblong punches......all CS Osborne........all sharp right out of the box and have never had to touch them up. Right around $50 per as well.....
I bought a 3200 from Neels and it was delivered regular UPS (maybe because it is a bit lighter) ... driver backed up to the driveway in front of my shop and off loaded on to the concrete......I hand trucked it into my shop ....
