  2. Howdy from SC and welcome to the wonderful world of leather. The fact that you admit have been bitten is the first step. It just gets more addictive and fun from there. Tom

OOPS!! I meant to say I got the book yesterday. Sorry about that. I get alittle A.D.D. sometimes. I agree with you guys, the book is great. Some of the illistrations can be kinda tuff to figure out at first but you just have to keep after it. I think it is one of the best Tool investment I have made. Tom

Your right about that Max. I live out on a dirt road and it gets pretty bad. Guess I need to break out the airbrush compressor and use it to air out the bottom of this thing. Tom
  8. Your right about that. I've read so much last night and this morning that I think my brain is gonna pop. Tom
  9. I got the Bruce Grant book "Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Brading" today. It was 50% off so I couldnt resist. Here's a pic of my first try at putting braid on a bracelet. Tom
  10. Thanks David it's good to meet you too. I bet we could go to any leather shop in the US and sooner or later we'e meet another member of LW. Yep, thats pretty cool. Tom
  11. Nah, fraid not, but I tried.
  12. Yep, I too went to the local Tandy's. Got to meet another forum member. It's nice to put a face to the name. Picked up one of the sides that were on sale. Got a real nice one. 24sq.ft. and very clean. But I made one mistake, I bought Bruce Grants Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding. Now I wont be content till I have read it at least twice and braided a cow. From what I've seen just flipping through it, it looks like a great book. Also got a bunch of other stuff that I "needed". Yeah right. Ya got me, I just wanted it. Tom
  13. Thanks guys. I put a thin peice of leather in there to keep the tools from knocking together. All and all it works pretty good. Tom
  14. Heres what I have so far. I left the cheek bones kinda big so he'd look like the clock were I got the idea. The eyes on the clock are solid black so I put some flames in there instead. It needs some kind of background or something. I'm thinking of putting the local cycle shop name on it. M&M Cycles. They said I could put it in thier shop. Still have to do alittle detailing on the skull. Tom

Thanks guys, and gals. It's not making any noise now but I did go and get one of those chill pads to set the notebook on. You can hear the little fan running quietly in the background but the laptop is cool as cucumber. Not really sure how cool cucumbers get but this thing is doing good. Now. Thanks again, Tom

  23. Thanks everyone. The reason I asked this question is that I am doing the June challenge and want to cut it clean. I know I'm alittle late on this one. I saw some great tools here and I too can always find a reason to whack the demple in the middle with something. I'm gonna try and make the tool I think. Thanks again. Tom Thats a great find. Bet you said YEE HAW
  24. Howdy from SC and welcome. You'll love it here. I know I sure have learned alot. Tom
  25. Is there some kind of cutter? Cause boy I sure can't cut a decent one or a stright line as far as that goes. I was thinking of making circle templates out of plexi glass or something. There in lies the problem. To make a template you have to cut a circle. Catch 22. Help please. Tom
