  2. The guy came back and brought me another one of them so now I have 2 of them. I like the inlay idea. Tom
  3. I ended up with a stain on the darn thing. but thats the way it goes sometimes. The flap is done with Fiebings Sheridans brown. Couldn't get the stain out no matter how hard I tried. I decided I was I was just a dead horse so I gave up on it. Tom
  4. Maybe it was the leather or the glassing, but I rubbed it on, " the Fiebings" and just kept rubbing till till it was all gone and smooth. Tom
  5. I've been using my Dremel tool with with a small 3/4" sanding drum on it. Tom
  6. I agree, the stitching is wonderful. How did you do it? Tom
  7. I got the dog collar done and traded it for this big piece of granite. It's 30 inchs long and 16 inchs wide. Tom
  8. Found out how to spell applique. Also had this flap left over from another project. I'm gonna try and do something with the two of them. This whole thing started cause I wanted to experiment with the glassing method. Which by the way I used on a holster and it made a difference. oops, A.D.D. kicking in. Heres a pic of the Appliques stained with Febings Mahogany. Tom
  9. I cut these out after I had tried the glassing experiment. I just traced the patteren out one peice at a time and beveled then cut it out. I skived the back to thin the edges. I still have some tooling to do on the leaf scrolls but I didnt want to do it till after I sorta molded them. Now I just gotta wait till they dry so I can see what to do next. Tom
  10. Happy Birthday Bruce. Eat some cake for me. I prefer chocolate but I'll eat anything with icing on it. Well almost anything. Tom
  11. I tried it out and I think it did make the flower on the right cleaner looking. Of course the picture I took dosn't show the true effect of using glass on your project. All I know is that I'm gonna do it on the next project. Tom
  12. I hope some one will take pics of the event for those of us who cant attend. And for those of you who can. Have fun and learn something for all of us. Tom
  13. Well I made a slicker out of a peice plexi glass I found in the shed. I believe i got it smooth enough. I finished it off with 600 grit sand paper. It's pretty smooth. It's 2"x5". It was all I had. Gonna try it out later today on something. Tom
  14. The D ring on this one is on the end. The dogs owner wants it in the middle on the new one. This picture doesn't show the whole collar. The new one is 32 inchs. Big dog. Tom
  15. Welcome Jo, I think you'll like it here. I have learned alot just watching these floks. Tom
  16. Yeah your right about the sleep thing. I dont sleep as much as some people. I'm retired so I get to play alot. Tom
  17. I'm still going through my midevil phase. I didn't groove the stitch line cause I wanted it to look roughly made. I was also able to use another bad spot off the side I got. At this rate I'll have that side down to the good stuff in no time. Tom
  18. I found something to do with the Pheonix. I cut the bad spot off a side that I got last week and made a bag out of it and just used the pheonix as the flap. I used a round braid to do the bag and join the flap to it. I'll use an "S" braid to join the flap and bag together. Put on some tabs for the strap and there you have it. Tom
  19. I'd like to see that too. I bet the the whole thing is one heck of alot of fun. Tom
  20. Thats what I needed to know. Thanks guys. Tryying to roll it with all those strands flopping around is a real pain. Thanks again. Tom
  21. Thanks Badlove I seem to to be getting better pics using the tripod and timer. Time will tell. I need to practice more but I think it'll work ok.Thanks, Tom
  22. Thank you Mike, that sounds like what I was kinda thinking. I've been stopping every 2 or 2.5 ft and rolling it like I did with my bull whip. It works really nice but is kind of a pain in the butt. Thanks again, Tom
  23. I'm working on a reata/rope thing and was wondering if I need to stop braiding and roll it every couple feet or should I just do it at the end? Not sure how long it will end up being but I think about 25 or 30 feet long. Tom
  24. Thank you Art, The Lord has truly Blessed us. Tom
