  1. Last but not least. By using the photos I caught that the bevel lines needed to be cleaned up so I used a modeling spoon to do that. If I had looked closer or paid more attention I would have seen it without the photos. But I didn't. Tom
  2. Heres some more photos. I need to figure out how to get more of them in one post. Maybe set the camera a little lower. Tom
  3. Well it's one way. The best way is to ask you guys. Cause your opinions and critiques means the most to me. I thought if it works for golfers who video their swing to analyze it then it should work for this. It seems that I always spot a goof up after I have already put a stain or finish on and then it's too late. Well anyway I took a simple pattern and gave it a try. Well it works pretty good and I thought I'd share the process with the group. I cant seem tp get all the pics in one post so I'll have to add another one. 4. Thank you, all. I could not have have come as far as I have with out your help. So any praise goes to you. Tom

    whip braiding

Those are some really great looking whips. I too have been using nylon to braid whips. Works great and they do crack real nice. Tom
  7. Ok I get it now. Color it the color I want then resist the project and apply the fiebings paste. Thanks. Tom
  8. Thank you. I kinda like it too. The calf skin feels different. I don't think it will be as durable as the pro lace but I still like it. Have to take the good with the bad I guess. How can I get the color darker? Should I leave the Fiebings on longer before I buff it off? Tom
  9. Beauty and function. It just doesn't get any better. You can tell that it was made with care and the love of fine craftsmanship. I too have never used a round maul but after seeing that, well I think it will have to go on the top of my list of "must haves". Tom
  10. Well here it is finished. Didn't come out as dark as I wanted. Where did I go wrong? I put the resist on "super sheen" then put a coat of fiebings Sheridan brown on it and buffed it off. I like the way it fills in the cracks and highlights the basket weave but I would rather it came out just a little darker. I used a calf skin lace which I have only used once before so I punched holes instead of slits. I found out the first time that calf skin doesn't like being squeezed through tight places. Tom
  11. Found it. It's not in the patterns thread it's at the end of the indy bag thread. Sorry. Tom
  12. I made a case for my computer. It's the same design as the Indy bag. Works great. Doesn't have a liner in it yet but haven't found what I want to use so for now I just use a towel till I can find the right stuff. I agree about the sheep skin. Too much fluff. Any ways theres a post of it somewhere on this forum. I'll try and insert a link to it but dont count on it working cause when it comes to computers I suck. Well I cant seem to get it right. Bummer. It's in the purse and wallet thread under "Indiana Jones bag, one piece bag". I also put a pattern in here too in the patterns thread. Tom
  13. Alright, thanks guys. Tom
  14. Have you looked at the knot head web site? There's a link on the leatherworker main page. They have some really good stuff. Tom
  15. Granted it's not as classy as Rolex and my circle cutting skills leave something to be desired, but it's something I do when I cant or don't want to put a makers mark on a project. Such as the face of a check book cover. It just adds a more personal touch. Tom
  16. When you say a resist what do you mean? The only thing I've ever done is used super sheen and it doesn't allow much stain to get in or the Eco-Flo block out finish? Tom
  17. I haven't done a basket weave for awhile so I thought I'd give it another shot. Also thought I'd take a pic of it before I screw it up trying to put a finish on it. I thought I was happy with the finish on the last couple of projects but when I saw the pics. Bummer. I'll just have to keep working on it. At least I didn't get the basket weave all over the border as much this time. I think I need to do something else to that border though. Camouflage maybe. Tom
  18. Not sure what to say. Except that has to be one of the best tutorials I've seen. Oh, and I love the super secret letter circle thingy. Fantastic Timbo. Now I want to try it. Got so many things on the want to list now but thats a gotta try thing. My nephew will love it. Thanks. Tom
  19. Couldn't get the last pic in there cause it said I used up too much space with the other two. So here it is. The light place in the middle is where it folds. Is there a way to prevent this? Maybe I didn't get the stain deep enough. Ideas? Tom
  20. Not sure who's going to get these but I thought I'd make em anyways. I think the liner turned out ok. What do you guys think? Especialy you Ladies out there. Would this be functional enough or should it have some kind of coin pocket or picture holder? These are the patterns I got out of the Lucky Seven book. Please feel free to critique my work. I have an open mind and need the input. Tom
  21. Those are some really nice shoes. They may not be my style but but ya gotta give credit where credit is due. Tell her nice work. Just a student now so can you imagine what lies ahead with her skills. Tom
  22. Good luck Noah, you'll need it in this relationship. Tom
  23. Well heres my stab at it. I'm not going to use 2 tone on this project but I used it just to try it out. The only thing I had to work with. Your right it is easy to work with but I had to get out the book and I haven't done a corner yet. Thanks again for your help. Tom
  24. Aaron is hard to get the two tone to go around corners? I know I have trouble trying to do it with the Mexican round braid. Love the look. I'm gonna have to try it. Tom
